I was wondering, I always rinse my hamburger meat after cooking to wash off fat. By doing this, do the fat and calorie values change from what is listed on the site. If so, does anyone have any idea what they would be? Thanks.

This is a good question...I do the same thing and I was wondering the same thing.

Hopefully someone can tell us. :)

You can reduce fat by 10 g and calories by 100!
Thanks....great info.
Awesome! Thanks a bunch!
Dumb question, but ...

We do this at home, but my husband washes it with boiling water.  Do you all do that, or do you just use hot water.  I'd think the boiling water would melt more of the fat for easier rinsing.
I just use hot water and hot boiling water..
Never mind my question ... I just read the article ...
The link that was posted above, says to use water microwaved for 5 minutes. Thats got to be like boiling.
That is great info, thanks for sharing it!

i have never heard of this or thought of this before. Thanks for asking this question and bringing this to my attention.

that is awesome.....i love everything with hamburger and will be rinsing from now on..!!!!
Doesn't it kill the flavor?
Yeah....I'll pass on that.  That's getting a little paranoid for me.  I eat lean beef as it is, so I don't worry about it.  Anyways, if you're buying the crappy 75% stuff and rinsing it off...yeah, you get rid of fat, but you're still stuck with hardly any meat leftover.  You get what you pay for.
spices, spices, spices. Just depends on what your goal is. I hardly ever eat ground beef and to be honest I have burned my taste buds out with spicy food so I dont notice the subtle flavorings of fat drippings... ewwwwww and I HATE fat!
So...why bother even eating it?  If you drown out any possible flavor with spices, then why not just get the 99% lean ground turkey that tastes like cardboard?
Iron, protein... necessary nutrients? LOL and I actually do buy 99% lean beef, when I eat beef. I dont often. I prefer fish, seafood and chicken.
I don't think I could do this. I don't eat a lot of ground beef either, so I figure when I do I can eat the fat that is naturally in it. If you get good quality lean meat it doesn't have that much fat in it. And the fat is part of the flavor of the meat.
haha if you only eat it for nutrients, find other stuff to replace it.  I'm sure the veggieheads on here have plenty of suggestions.  I myself was a meatcutter for a few years...so you can understand my absolute LOVE of ground beef.  MMMM greasy burger...I could go for some white castle.
I love the taste of it too. I buy good cuts of meat from a local farmer and grind it myself when I have it. yum.
