I can't decide if I'm happy or not...on the one hand, this should make flights cheaper as demand increases...on the other, costs are also likely to rise with demand.

If you want to see Rio as Rio, go before the games. I'm eternally grateful that I managed to spend some time in Beijing before they "cleaned it up" (ie, destroyed a lot of history) for the games.
