RIP Dr. Tiller
I really don't have the words to describe what I'm feeling right now that won't get censored. I've been fearing that this might start to happen again.
For anyone on here who might work at a clinic: please be alert, review any safety procedures you have, and stay safe.
Meh it's pretty hard to sue for incitement - especially with all his disclaimers about vigilanteism.
He's just a big mouth POS.
I'm sure there's a lawyer somewhere you could shove his disclaimers down his throat.

And give him a reason to play a righteous "I'm only speaking my opinion and the evil leftists are trying to silence me because they know they're wrong and I'll continue to be brave in the face of opposition" martyr? (You know he would...)
Of course, ignore him, and he'll still claim to have won the culture/opinion/truth war, because the leftists have no answer.
Alternate media outlets just needs to expose him for the blowhard he is.

Of course, some people who've been agitating for exactly this outcome in public should now go on their show and report that their campaign against Tiller has met with outstanding success.
What are you talking about? Are you saying that O'Reilly asked for people to kill this guy? You folks are nuts too if you believe that. There will always be a dissenting opinion. Look, about 70+ percent of folks are against late term abortions. O'Reilly is one of the 70%. He brought this up on the show many times, because it was in the news when the doctor was facing charges a couple years back, and has testified many times about late term abortions.
Their are three (maybe four) doctor's in the US that will terminate a pregnancy late in the term. Tiller had a salary of roughly one million a year, while terminating these pregnancies. Of course he will talk about this during his show. That's what news commentators do. It's ridiculous to think that the doctor was squeaky clean. Did he deserve to be shot and killed? heck no. And maybe if you actually watched his segment (the article you comment referenced was two days ago) last night if you are so offended by O'Reilly's comments you would hear what he has to say about all of that. Our you could could continue with your ignorance. Whatever floats your boat folks.
We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them - Albert Einstein.

agree.
no crazi - I have no doubt that Roeder was quite capable of this heinous crime without O'Reilly's encouragement - I just think he's an ass.

You are one hundred percent correct.

He is a bit of one, isn't he? I like it. :)
Hmpfh. You don't have to pull the trigger to sponsor domestic terrorism. I absolutely believe that infusing the public sphere with hate-fuelled rethoric of violence like O'Reilly does legitimizes violent action in the minds of his listeners.

Conservative hate-talk holds no interest for me. I place such as he roughly a half step above the Westboro Baptist Church.
incitement of violence is pretty clearly defined by case law as being direct speech that takes place immediately before a violent action
so, o'reilly didn't incite this murder
now, there's a section of the patriot act, which has been upheld in court, that prohibits "material support for terrorism" and in most of the cases that have gone to trial, the "material support" was people exercising their right to free speech or free association. in that sense, o'reilly could be on the hook if anybody wanted to pursue it, which i seriously doubt.
i don't agree with that section of the patriot act.
Interesting point Melkor. When it's a Muslim Jihad - conservatives are all about bloody vengeance and hate, but when it's a Christian 'Holy War' all's fair.
Hypocrisy thy name is William Coulter O'Limbaugh.

O'Reilly went after this doctor way more than was necessary. He kept this dr's name in the news. He made it a personal vendetta. O'Reilly invaded the guy's privacy and was inciteful. O'Reilly didn't just put out an opinion. He went far beyond that. Do I believe O'Reilly is as guilty as Roeder? No. Do I believe people liek O'Reilly are at least partly responsible for his murder on moral grounds because they perpetuated hate? Yes.

Oh, please. Anything placed on the Daily Kos is automatically discounted. I would not be getting my news from them. But, that's just me.
Faux News isn't much better.

Yet you listen to Fox News and like O'Reilly.

Oh, come on melkor. I may not agree with how O'Reilly goes about spouting his opinions, but they are his opinions and he is allowed to spout them if he wants to. I did not see one clip...ever...of O'Reilly saying that Tiller should be hunted down and killed. People are responsible for their own actions. Roeder is responsible for his own actions.
I think Nomo said it best, and I agree as well.

This news has me fuming, and most media isn't covering it.
