Roasted Garbanzo Bean Question
So, I made roasted garbanzos for the first time today. I was wondering, for those of you who have made them, do they all come out really crunchy? I like the crunchy ones, but most of mine came out soft. I was wondering if maybe I didn't cook them long enough?? I baked them at 350 degrees for 45 to 50 minutes. Should I cook them longer next time?
I am going to try them this week actually! But my recipe says 400 degrees for 45-50 minutes. I'd say yeah.. cook them longer ... as long as they don't burn you'll be fine!
What is the recipe? Do you use the canned beans? It sounds good.
Using the canned beans, I would drain them very well, maybe let them sit in a strainer for a few hours.
I bake mine at a low temp for a few hours. Sorta like dehydrating them. Make sure to shake the pan so that they don't stick.
Do you use a non stick spray or just put on cookie sheet?
Toss a little EVOO on them and lay them flat on a cookie sheet. You can let them cool in the oven and it will help with the crispiness. Just turn the oven off and leave them in there.
You didn't roast them long enough. You can re-roast by coating with a little olive oil. I do that by putting 1 tablespoon of oil in a big bowl and tossing them until they are all slightly coated with that small amount of oil. You need oil to give that crunch. They need to be roasted until they are completely dry with no softness at all. If you are afraid of burning them, roast them at a lower temperature for longer and stir every 10 minutes or so.
I love them!
