Please consider joining this small group (Approximately 20 people) who are in their 30's-Plus to lose & stay motivated through June 15, 2009.

Hoping for some responses.

Hello:  I am  5 ft (that is it) 140 lbs, 41 yrs old and Female, with very little time, and this sounds great. Will help me get motivated to loose the weight by my Birthday in June.

I started Calorie count in October but has been hard to be motivated. Have not joined any groups in the past but I am ready to try something new.

Any idea what days you want to do the check ins?

Oh my gosh!  Hi and thank you for your response!  You are the only person who responded.  I too, have a birthday in June.  Mine is the 17th.  I am 46 years old, 5'4" and want to lose 60+ pounds.  I was at 191.2 two days ago but now I am at 194.  I am not sure why my weight went up but one thing I know for sure ... it is not from lack of exercise or counting calories because I have been disciplined in both areas.  I have been very good this year!  he he he Okay, I know it has only been a week into the new year but it is a good start.  I really, really, really, want to take it all the way until June.

I think we should check in no less than once a week.  As for the weigh-in day, you go ahead and pick the day.  I am open to whichever day you choose.  As we keep the thead going others may join but we'll still stick with that day.

My idea of this thread is to keep it simple.  We have a timeline, which is June, and we should use the thread as accountability and support.  Some personal challenges, suggestions, advice, and just to vent would be great as well.  Exercise hours per week and body measurements would be a good thing to add as we get going.

So what do you think?

BTW ... My name is Karen.

By the way, I think tuff_n_nuff will be joining us.  I sent her an invite.

I'm off to Vegas for tradeshow ... will reply on Sunday

Well maybe we should call this the get fit by your June birthday hee hee hee. I'm a June baby myself and have a goal to be at my goal weight by my birthday. So I'll join too.

My high weight was 212, I'm currently 171.8 and want to get to goal of 135. I'm not sure it's possible to get there by the 5th but am giving it my best shot. I'm participating in the biggest loser 9, the exersize challenge and the deficit challenge. This group will bring me full circle to help me meet that goal. I weigh in on Mondays currently but will post that weight on whatever day you choose.

Happy June Birthday! This is great! I think we can all use the support so that we can achieve our goal and have something to celebrate on our birthdays. I like posting on Mondays that will keep me motivated during the weekend so that I dont splurge in calories and mess up the prior week.

Hello ~ I'm Stephanie and I'll join the group, too. I was just thinking that a challenge might do me good right now so I'm in for the 4th person joining up! :)

  I'm 32yo, 5'5", and weighed in Jan. 6th (Tues) at 238 lbs and I'm a size 16/18.

My goal is to be about a size 8/9, which should also be around 140lbs for me. So, I have 98 lbs to lose to reach that goal. I dipped down to about 225 back in the Fall but have since inched back up again! I will get measurements this weekend sometime as well.

Obviously,  I won't be losing 98 lbs in the next 4 1/2 months, lol. But when I'm active and steady with a healthy food diet I tend to lose somewhat easily. We'll see what happens!

I'll check back in on Monday if not before .. Good luck, everyone! :)

  ~ Steph

just bumping for anyone interested in joining up!

Hi -

I would like to join the group too.  I am 43, my b-day is close to June Laughing July 14.  I started CC back in March and have lost about 50 lbs and have stalled.  I need to get a jump start as I would like to loose at least 40 more but that is probablynot going to happen for my b-day.  I would settle for a slow steady loss. I had a hysterectomy in April 2008 and have recovered well.  I would love to be part of a support group to give and get support and the occasional kick in the bottom if needed.

Jen

Well, it looks like I'm down only .5 of a lb, lol

Starting Weight: 238 lbs
Week 1: 237.5 lbs

Just wanted to see if I can join in? I'll be turning 30 next month.

Good Morning Girls, well I guess it's almost afternoon here lol. Anyway I just wanted to say hello. It's my weigh in day and I'm down from 171.8 to 170.2 so it's a 1.6 lb loss this week. I've been working out every day and having a nice deficit as a result.I am so disappointed that I can't lose the coveted 2lbs per week. I guess it's just not going to happen for me that way. On the bright side I do notice a big difference in my clothes so I  think I may have put on a little muscle and toned up some. Anyway I've got 35.2 lbs to go to goal.

How is everyone else doing?

My Stats

Challenge Begin weight >> 171.8

Week 1 >> 170.2

Thanks Karen! And Hi everyone =)

I'm Stacey and I turn 30 next month so I'm really trying to focus a little more on my goals for me.  I injured my knee in April 07 and lost 10 months before they cleared me a year ago to full duty.  Complications and medication regimen helped pack on the pounds and before I knew it I was 190 lbs.  My scale weighs you 5# less then you actually are (some people would love it) so it's a really hard thing to swallow that I got that close.  I'm only 5'3" so it's really a lot of weight to carry on such a small frame.

I'm small boned and I know how bad it is for my joints.  Already had one scope job on the knee and I was lucky.  The extra weight is just going to destroy my joints faster so getting my life back is my gift to me.  I'd gotten down to 147 pushing myself too hard with running this fall and I gained back to 166 with the holidays and activity taking a nosedive.

Looking forward to hitting my goal range, and should be able to by challenge end.  I'd like to be somewhere around 110-125 (depending on how toned or lack of toned I look) so I'm a lot more confident on family vacation this summer.  I love my family but haven't seen them for a year and having the extra weight off would take a lot of stress out for me.  They do a lot of fad diets and complain about weight so I don't want to fall into that.

So that's a little on me... and I really can't wait to get to know everyone here better.

Challenge begin weight - 166 (1/7)

Week 1 - 160 (1/12)

*and the 6# loss isn't a huge concern... I'd stopped eating smaller meals more frequently and got into the too low calorie cycle and my body was really hanging onto everything that went into it.  I was so bloated!  Been back trying to correct that.  Didn't lose anything the 1st week and last week those 6 just fell off

Hi All - I would love to join - I need the motivation... and the accountability.

I am Angelic - but most on the boards refer to me as Diva... either works... I am 5'5" 155 and working towards a goal of 135.  I am fastly approaching 34 (March).  I started CC in June of 2007 at 190lbs.  Weight loss kind of stalled in Oct of last year.  So hoping a new challenge and new buddies can help to keep me motivated to get the last 20lbs off.

??? though - what day is weigh in?

Week 1 - 155 (1/13)

I'd like to join too please.

I'm 32, 5'4" and currently 158lbs. I started on CC in June 2008 at 185lbs and even reached 154 the day after Christmas. But I have pretty much been stalled between 158 and 155 since last October. I have been off the calorie counting wagon for a couple of months now and really need to get back on. It's been all the holiday treats, and the cold weather that have been hampering my progress. My ultimate goal is to be a healthy 135.

Week 1: 158 (Starting weight)

Hello Everyone:

Just wanted to check in and post my starting weight. I am glad that more people are joining.

Week 1 136lbs

My goal is 115lbs.

Iam in New England and it is very cold about to get colder here. So I have no motivation to go outside or do anything, really. I think this is why is so important to me to get some motivation going. My goal this week is to create an exercise routine that I can stick to. Any suggestions and please do not say walking I dont own a treadmill and there is no way I will walk outside this week! LOL!

How did you do, Karen?

Well, everyone else has kind of told their weightloss journey stories so I'll add a briefing of mine, too. As I said previously, I'm 5'5" and 32yo. I am currently 237.5 as of yesterday which is important to hold on to that .5 lb for me. :)

I was never really overweight until I got married and had my first baby at 21yo. (We have six children.) My biggest all-time weight (non-pregnant) was 292 lbs in Jan '05 after our 5th child.

After her, I worked down to about 240 in May '07 but then became pregnant w/ our 6th child. Last Jan '08 at delivery I was 282.5.

I've worked it down to about 225 in Sept, but have since put these 13 lbs back on over Fall and Christmas. :) So now I'm back and hoping to lose the extra weight throughout the year and be about 140ish by next year.

That's it for now I suppose! Any tips I might not know about I'd love to hear :)

It is great to see the group is taking off!! I am late!!! I guess really late! I have had a few battles lately.  I had an awesome first week and lost 4 pounds - Yippee - right - well not so fast!!! 2 pounds found their way back home and that freaked me out!!! I suppose it is be3cause I have started lifting at the gym and now this week I took 2 classes at the gym.  Nothing like being the fat old woman trying to keep up!! Now if inspiration was something I needed - there is one woman there who can work circles around me and she is 50 pounds lighter than me and are you ready???? She is 72 years old!!!! Hello!!! What too me so long to figure this out???   Breathe!!! At least I have finally figured it out! Right? Lauri

Hey Tuff - glad you found your way on!  Hi to everyone else too!  I hope you are having a bright sunshiny Wednesday... I did make it to the gym yesterday.  Really excited about that.  I didn't work out as hard as I could have but it was a workout none the less...

Maybe I will go home and shovel to get in more exercise! :)
