Roll Call (OPEN) Small Group (Approx. 20) Age 30's-Plus to lose & stay motivated through June 15, 2009
I did my best with a group for motivation and challenges back in August. I pretty much fell off the wagon and I am ready to start anew in 2009.
Please consider joining this small group (Approximately 20 people) who are in their 30's-Plus to lose & stay motivated through June 15, 2009.
Week 1 - Introduce yourselves and thereafter, weigh-in and a new challenges each week.
I will try to go and weigh myself today but the kids are all home sick :( AND I ate so so so so much yesterday for the Super Bowl - and i'm not even really a sports fan - but I am a fan of food. :) I'll weigh-in tomorrow if I can't get over there today to weigh in (I weigh on my parents' scale as it's much more accurate, consistant, and doesn't wiggle around.)
Hi all,
I exercised yesterday and today so I feel like I am almost back on track for this. The Super Bowl did me in. Did I mention I live just north of Pittsburgh and Super Bowl was bigger than New Year's here. Ate waaaaaay too much but I hope all of that overeating is out of me. I really want to get back on track. Will weigh in on Friday.
Jen
Jen - do you live anywhere near Ford City? Kittanning, McGrann... ?
that's where my Dad is from, that's all :) I'm down in North Carolina
Stephanie, I live outside of Mars which is southwest of Kittanning and Ford City.
Where are you in NC? I did an internship in college in Chapel Hill and thought it was just a beautiful area. We have gone on vacation on Topsail Island which is also a very beautiful piece of NC.
Go Steelers!
I did good last week exercised 3 times a week and streteched did low intensity work outs twice. So I achieved my goal of 20 minutes of exercise a day or more. Anyone else tried to workout?
Yet, I went for my weight in today and no loss whatsoever. I did not over eat at the superbowl or over the weekend, guess that I need to pump up the exercise. Ohh Well, I willkeep trying.
favoritebook, you met your goals of working out this week. Great job! Don't get discouraged by the scale, you may have a better week next week. It seems to work that way for me sometimes. I will have a great week then a not so great week. And then out of nowhere, I will have another great week. It's hard to figure sometimes. I just say, stick to your goals and you can't go wrong. And it may be that you want to up your exercise if you think that will help. It never hurts to refine our goals...in fact we all need to refine our goals sometimes to be sure they are realistic and attainable and something that keeps us going. I try to up my workout when I can just because I figure that as I lose weight I have to push myself harder to burn the same number of calories. I guess that is one downside of losing...but it's not really a downside:)
sounds like the Superbowl did a lot of folks in. I had to refrain from exericise because I overdid it last week and injured my knee. It is feeling much better now, so I hope to go to the gym tomorrow. But mine is a lesson hard learned--go slow and steady as many of us have too much pressure on our joints as it is.
Despite a major M&M relapse, the Superbowl and no exercise, I still managed to lose 2 more pounds so I feel encouraged.
Ah, I was done in well before the superbowl.. although that weekend couldn't have happened at a worse point in my backsliding! :) I would have had to report a GAIN and that was before superbowl weekend.
I ate horribly Superbowl Sunday and weighed in against my better judgement on Monday - I was at 157.6. It was enough to make me run to the gym yesterday morning at 5:15.
I weighed in again this morning - just to see if my efforts to rid of the water weight had helped and it apparently did... 155.4.. PHEW.
I am back - and if ANY OF YOU see me fall off the radar, feel free to PM me and tell me to get my rear in gear! ![]()
Thank you minlyn. I will readjust and keep working it. So far so good this week Went to the Gym twice and exercised at home once. Not bad Hopefully that helps. Food wise I am avoiding temptation and staying away from anything salty or chocolaty. But is taking alot of will power this week. However, my very tight clothes are speaking to me:) they say dont eat or we will break!
Smiles
I totally f#$@$^%$ed up yesterday. Someone brought donuts to work. I ate FOUR. Caloric total was 3400 by the end of the day. I will have to work hard before my weigh in on Tuesday. Sheesh!
dont be discourage, we all been there. Just forget the past and work at it again! It happens to all of us. Everytime I hear a bad of chips open I have to run the other way or else the bag is GONE!!!
. I feel like the kid at a party that sits in front of the food table and does not leave until the chips are gone or the cake is cut. Point is we al been there but I am with you curse the donuts and the potato chips!
I completely understand. I'm in Louisiana in the midst of Mardi Gras season and my co-workers bring king cake to work a couple times a week. I LOVE king cake. I just try to convince myself that its the nastiest thing in the world...that doesn't usually work becuase I know its not. We're throwing my sister in law a baby shower this weekend so I am preparing myself now to not eat cake and other fattening stuff. Cake of any kind is my weakness...especially cheescake. Thank God its suppose to be 72 degrees here this weekend because I think I am going to need all the workouts I can get. Have a good weekend all....
minlyn - what is a king cake?
as a former Nawlins resident, I can personally vouch for the fact that you need to be glad that you do not know what King Cake is--right, minlyn?
Yes! You are right. Be glad you don't know what king cake is. It is a pastry that has a cinnamon-roll-like dough that is shaped like a ring with icing and sugar sprinkles on top. They are sometimes filled with fruit or cream. They usually have a little plastic baby inside so whoever gets the baby gets to buy the next king cake. It is delicious. They usually come out right after Christmas and stay around until Mardi Gras, which this year is February 24th.
I was able to pass the king cake this week but I didn't do so well yesterday at my sister-in law's baby shower. We had so much good food and cake that it was difficult to be good. I actually gained a half pound this week. I am so disappointed. I didn't think I did that bad this week. I worked out six days out of the seven and counted all my calories. And I really didn't do that bad yesterday...I didn't think. I'm hoping it's just water weight. I guess we'll see how next week goes.
Hello everyone: I am sorry to hear that King Cake is so delicious. But, I am certainly glad that is one temptation I donot have to fight:)
minlyn, you should be proud of yourself that you work out six times last week. That for me is half the battle having to get out and do the actual work it takes to get rid of the calories.
I worked out only twice last week. Tough week, sick, plus work and weather does not help. Anyways, I worked out today and I am glad to say I lost one pound 19 to go. maybe because I was sick but who cares a pound is a pound Yahoo! :)
You know is about 19 weeks to June 10 (my Birthday) I still have a chance to loose this 19 pounds!
Where is everyone? Is it a bad week? It's been a couple days since anyone left a post. I guess you can tell I don't like silence:) I'm having a hungry day today. I haven't eaten dinner yet and I only have 300 calories left for the day. I guess it's lean cuisine tonight. I'm hoping to have a good weight loss this week since last week didn't go so well. Well, I just thought I would break the silence.
Hi everyone: Sorry to hear you were having a bad day yesterday minlyn. Hope you are doing better today.
I am doing good today. I achieved my goal this week to go to the gym 4 times! I did it! I also actually worked out for 45 minutes each time! Eventhough, I have a fracture arm!
I feel quiet tire but excited and am already planning my next week goal. Exercise 5 times next week. Anyone with me?
Is going to be hard been a holiday on Monday and all but, maybe people can get out and bike, ski, dance depending on where you are. Or just play tag with the kids that counts as exercise right. I know I jump rope with my ten year old the other day in the basement and boy did he beat me. We had a contest for who can jump more times in a row and he can do 70. (meanwhile my tongue was out on 20)
Anyways, Happy Valentine to You all.
Any one has exiting plans. I am staying home watching old movies and my husband will cook!
That's great that you accomplished your goals this week favoritebook. That's awesome you worked out despite a fractured arm. I think I probably would have not been as disciplined. Way to go! And, yes, I am having a better day today. I am up for setting a goal to work out five days this week. Anyone else on board?
I didn't realize Monday was a holiday. Being in Louisiana, they consider the following week a holiday for Mardi Gras and I get off of work for two days. Monday is a holiday for me, however, in that it is my first anniversary.
Hope everyone has a good weekend!
Great that you are joining the challenge. Anyone else working out next week come on we only have four months to June! :)
Congratulations On your anniversary Minlyn!
