Can I fit on a Roller Coaster now?

Quote  |  Reply
Ok, I have lost 78 pounds as of today! I am taking my son to Disney on June 16th! I was up to 360 pounds, size 32 and could no longer fit on roller coasters. I am now 282 lbs. and at a size 24. Does anybody else know if I may be able to fit on the coasters yet?

I don't know about Disney, but we went to a theme park last year that had signs (and a piece of their wesite) that said that guests over size 18 might have difficulty.  Check Disney's site to see more, or give them a call.

How tight was the fit when you tried previously?  Good job on losing the weigth.  It sounds like you are significantly smaller so my guess is that you would be able to fit this time around.
That's a good idea, if it's not on their website you can try calling ahead and someone should be able to give you a definite answer.

Ha ha! This is exactly one of the factors that motivated me to lose weight! I want to hop back on coasters, and I knew I was just too big to get on one. I think I'm ready now. I'm down to about 220 lbs at about 6' tall.

Congratulations on losing so much weight! If you're fairly tall, I'd think you'd be able to fit okay... it depends on where you carry your weight. You should be proud of yourself anyway, whether you fit into a roller coaster or not...

Thanks for the congrats! I am proud of myself! I am 5'10 so hopefully I will fit, if i can remember correctly i was a size 24 in high school and fit on rides. Most of my weight is in my stomach. Soooo. My goal was to fit on the rides with my son! I will keep my fingers crossed!

As someone who spends a lot of time at Disney, I can tell you that you shouldn't have any trouble with any of their rides.  If you're planning to visit Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure, though, Hulk, Dueling Dragons, and Dr. Doom might present issues.

There are two great sites you might want to check out for additional information:

http://www.disboards.com/  A forum site about WDW, as well as other Orlando and Disney parks.  The people there are very friendly and knowledgeable about Disney.

http://www.allearsnet.com/tp/rid_trip.htm  A site that has trip reports from people who report their height and weight, and what if any trouble they had fitting into rides.  They also give helpful tips like pulling out the safety belt before sitting down (I find that this helps me.)

I think you'll be fine.  The only places I see potential problems are the the big, upside-down monster coasters, which Disney has very few of.
