Rollerblading...anybody else do it??

Quote  |  Reply
So when I was younger (maybe 15-16 and 75 pounds thinner) I use to rollerblade with friends all the time. And today I finally received the set I won off of ebay...needless to say I am so excited! I checked the calorie burning on it and it seems like this will be a great workout source now, however I am just curious on if anybody else does it? Does anyone else spend time rollerblading and if so what results have you had?

Good Luck and Take Care. :)
alwayz- love the new pics!

Um... I got rollerblades last year.  So far the results have been a lot of dust has collected on them.  It's nice outside... I suspect bloody knees are in my future!
Kina, finally someone who LOVES it like I do!

You burn sooooo many calories in a 1/2 hour alone! I go at least once a week on Saturdays and sometimes I go on my lunch hour from work, did yesterday in fact. You burn a lot so be sure to eat a bit more on the days you go... I've lost about 12 lbs in the past month, give or take on the time and I don't think I could have done it without the roller blading. It's got great benefits. My core feels so much stronger because you're using it to hold yourself up! My legs are more toned too! You use your whole body while doing it.. just try not to go on back to back days, you will definitely need a day in between even if you don't "feel" sore...

I got a pair of K2's for about $80 at a local store, I couldn't wait for the shipping I was too anxious and wanted a good pair, they feel like tennis shoes, so comfy!!

Let me know how you like it, I'm adding you to my friends list!
Pamela, your post really motivates me because I love rollerblading but I love even more knowing that there will be results!  I'll definetly take your advice and eat more on the days I go, as well as taking a day in between. And alwayz let me know your progress as will I with you, Saroful join the fun girl! And err...bloody knee's, darn it I knew i forgot something...guess right after work I'll be heading to Big5 for knee and arm pads. Wish me Luck!

I miss rollerblading!  it was so much fun!!!! hmmmmm

I will stick with running now
l-o-v-e, love rollerblading!!  it totally works your body and you
can def feel the results!  i need to do it more because it helps
out your legs!  now that its getting to be summer, i like to
rollerblade to the grocery store if i just need a few little things
that are easy to carry in a backpack.  its a good way to get
around and burn some cals!
I love rollerblading!! It's fun and it doesn't even feel like you are exercising (at least for me)

I just went yesterday down by Lake Michigan. It was beautiful!!

No definate results yet, but I hope to be going more often now that it is nice outside:)
I bought rollerblades as a teen, and have tried several times over the years to learn to use them.  Unfortunately, I still always fall down on my bum :-( .  So they're still sitting around mostly unused.
Alright Ladies! So my excitment about the roller blades has died down. Yesterday when I finally received my pair that I won off of ebay I was so excited that as soon as I got home I laced those bad boys up and was on my way. I'd say maybe after 2-3 minutes of feeling the wind in my hair my calves, hips, inner thighs, outer thighs, and everywhere else was in INTENSE pain. I mean it was horrible! I couldn't belive that I'd do this 3 hours at a time non stop(when I was 15-16) and here I am only 21 years old not able to go more than 5 minutes without being in utter pain. Needless to say I need to get back in the groove with rollerblading because this was something I use to love to do and now I'm so out of shape that my body was yelling at me. I'll keep practicing a little at a time and I'm sure I'll be alright.
I love it and you feel so good after doing it. You burn so many calories its great.

Just watch for cars and rocks. =)
I haven't been in a long time.. hmm.. I should bust out my rollerblades tomorrow!

I love rollerblading.  I am not and never have been athletic, but this is a sport that even I can feel fast, strong and competent at!

A note of caution to all: pads really are important.  Even the best bladers sometimes fall.  Don't be a slave to fashion - wear those pads!! (I broke my wrist severely in a rollerblading accident, but probably wouldn't have if I'd been wearing wrist guards, so this is an issue close to my heart!)
