Romantic get-away part zwei!
Ok, so i caved and book the hotel, (more bad news after my last post), but anyway. I was thinking about bringing some of our own food, so we are less interupted and inconvienced by having to put clothes on to go eat. Problem, (i'm just full of them, eh?), my guy doesn't like sweets, chocolate or anything dessert like. He also doesn't like cheese so cheese and crackers is out. And I am not a huge fan of seafood/shellfish. He likes fruit, so I'm thinking some berries and peaches, but that's not really filling and we'll probably need lots of energy... So any ideas on food that doesn't need to be heated? I'm sure there is a fridge in the hotel so theres no issue with storing it, but other than sweets, what else is semi-sensual? Thanks for all your help!
Fruit is great, but you will need a meal. Do you own a crock pot? You could prep all the ingredients and place in a zip lock bag for say potato soup, chili, beef stew or whatever you like and then throw it in the crock pot to cook for 4-8 hours. It is small and can be hidden in a duffel bag easily. Take a box of cereal for bfast a small jug of milk and a cooler for all your ingredients, eat cheese and crackers for lunch. Some potato soups are very good with a glass of wine. I use freshly grated parm cheese in mine. Some fresh cut bread and butter too. You will save a small fortune eating this way.
That's a great idea! I dont have a crock pot, but I do have a very good large thermos. I never even thought of that. Thanks so much!
Edit: Double post.
bottle of tequila and a bag of dorritos...just sayin'....
wicked...and to go the extra mile, I'll get some ivory for our bubble bath ![]()

Your quest for an cheap inexpensive (lol) getaway reminded me of my all time best cheap weekend. It was for 3 days and 2 nights at a really nice ski resort here. I spent 17.00 (total all days included) for the hotel and lift tickets for 2 adults and 2 children. I took my crock pot, a cooler and the food cost around 50.00. It would have cost over 1000.00 for food, lodging and recreation. Wow I still can't believe I pulled that off.
well done...last time we tried to do something inexpensive (two night camping/hiking excursion) we ended up 500km away from our campsite in a hotel with ordered food. our $150 weekend ended up around $600 with gas and all...and we got rained on...but it was still relaxing and fun! I'm hoping to do better this time... kathygator-Limes are also cheaper than doritos!
:)
Go to an Italian restaurant (at lunch if their menu is less expensive then) and take out an antipasto platter. Marinated artichokes are always sexy. Wait ... well, at least it'll be filling.
Is jump roping as good an exercise as running?
In terms of calorie burning, moderate jumping is about equal to running a 10-minute mile, although calorie burning is always a function of time... Read more
