Rookie to the Site!

Quote  |  Reply
Hi Everyone!

I am a rookie to this site but am loving it so far!  I tried Weight Watchers at the beginning of the year and lost about 10 lbs but have gained it all back since.  It is so expensive to join again, and I learned a lot about portions with the "point" system and how much I really SHOULD be eating so I decided to just try and do it on my own.  I am hoping that tracking my weight on this sight will help with my motivation and accountability!!!

So how often do you weigh yoursleves?  Once a week, everyday?  I have never been obsessed with the scale but think it is important now that I am really trying to lose weight!!!  I am hovering around 170 lbs and at 5'5 I would like to be around 145lbs which I think is pretty reasonable!  I am looking forward to using this site as a tool and motivator!

Good luck to everyone and I really look forward to reading your responses!

Hi Megan welcome to the site.

I weigh everyday. I'm 5'4 and started at 220+ and now at 149.

This site is the bomb, it has helped me in so many ways.  People are very supportive.

Good luck.
I'm Jael, welcome Megan.

I weight myself from time to time, and I just started here (well I started a long time ago but now I'm going to do this regularly, instead of forgetting about the site altogether [I'm such a bad person, I know]).
I'm 5'3" & I started at 148 when I joined...and I even gained weight..a LOT. but that's my own fault for forgetting about the site and my health. So now I'm 158 and going to lose until I'm at 120 :P

We can be rookies together!
Hi Meag
Welcome to CC
Hello!  We have similar weight loss goals.  I'm 28 yrs old, 5'7", and I weigh 175 pounds.  I noticed you put me on your friends list, and that is awesome.  I weigh in every Monday.  The is a post called the Monday weigh in club where a lot of people post their weight.  My favorite low cal snacks are 100 calorie bags of popcorn, sugar free jello, and baby carrots.  I have been doing some aerobics, but its hard to get motivated to do sometimes.  I'm working on it.  Happy Thanksgiving to you and ttyl.

Colleen
Hi Megan,

I agree, that is totally reasonable.  I have similar goals.  It makes me glad to see young ladies making reasonable goals and being upbeat and rational about their bodies.

I track my weight everyday.  Im an Engineer so I am fascinated with the fluctuations from a scientific perspective.  Also the fluctuations don't bother me.  If you have a personality that cant handle the sometimes dramatic changes from day to day then keep to weighing-in once a week or even less frequently -- for your own sanity.  If you are scientifically minded then traking weight daily is a fun experiment.  I can see how my weight changes according to what I eat and it helps me to understand my body more.  Its interesting.

Cheers.

Hey!

We have about the same end goals in mind.  I'm 5'5 (almost 5'6;) and have a large frame.  I weigh myself about every week. I was doing it every day but it GOT TO BE A LET-DOWN much easier now, without the pressure of the scale to change every single day.

What is your plan for getting the weight off and keeping it off?

Hugs and Blessings to you,
Hi Megan!

Welcome. I weigh myself every day. I also use the food log, activity log and weight log religiously.

I think this site is the best weight loss tool I've ever run across. It covers all the basis: Facts/Science and tools plus the social/emotional side of weight loss as addressed through the forums.

Best regards,

---Kayvan
I really just want to say THANKS for everyone that has replied to my post.  It is so helpful just to know that I am not alone!

My plan to success is to start eating right and to get my body moving more!  I play volleyball on Mondays and try and go to step class on thursdays...if I can get myself moving and get away from the couch and tv then I think I am doing well!

Again thank you for all of your support!
Hey Meagan, I added you to my friends list too! I am 5' 4" and now at 167 lbs, I was 192 lbs when I started, When I found this site a little over a month ago I was at 172.8.

I started my weight loss journey in February with the help of a great nutritionist. I didn't lose a pound in the first 3 months! I try to stay away from the scale as much as possible, usually only once every 2-4 weeks when I am seeing a difference in my clothes. I try to go by how my clothes fit and how I am feeling instead of the scale, I also use a measuring tape. I have found that the scales can cause a negative reaction in me, I will get upset or disapointed if I don't see changes on the scale, even if I am seeing them in my clothes. If I had gone by the scale only I would have given up in those first 3 months! Or in the months proceeding when the weight loss was achingly slow! if you need any help or advice I am always happy to pass on what I have learned!
