Rotisserie Chicken?

Quote  |  Reply

Hey guys, I today I was wondering about Rotisserie Chicken. My mom bought it for dinner tonight. My question for you is, is it healthy? If it is how much should I eat of it? There is no nutrion facts on it unfortuanally. Meat ussualy has a 3 Oz per serving which I heard is the size of a deck a cards, but I can't really measure that out without ruining the whole chicken ahah. So how many calories would be like in a leg of the Rotisserie Chicken? Also I heard that if I should take off the skin cause that is were a lot of the fat is. So would I be saving calories by taking off the skin? Thanks in advanced :D

I eat rotisserie chicken all the time, and I'm not sure of the exacty calories but I usually only eat the breast and without the skin, so I count it the same as a normal boneless skinless chicken breast. If you do eat the legs or other dark meat it is probably going to be a little higher in calories, but still good for you!

My absolute favorite thing is shredding up the breast part and putting it my own greek salad (peppers, onion, tomato's cuccumber, olives etc.) with light fetta cheese and calorie wise greek dressing. So so yummy.

Thanks for the reply :D

I apprecate it. So the breast is bassically everything but the legs? I only said that cause its easy to break off ahaha.  That salad sounds really yummy! I will have to try it out sometime. Also could you give me an estament on the calories? About 250, right? Also does anyone else know of some good sides to go with it? :D I was thinking baby carrots. Thanks again.

Yeah the breast would be everything but the legs and wings. Should be around 230 cals for 140 grams (which is about a cup chopped) of the breast.

Brown rice and pretty much any steamed/raw vegetable or salad would be excellent sides.

Take the skin off and it should be okay, the fat is between the skin and the meat but it tends to stick to the skin, if you pull that off the fat will come off as well. Roasted chicken is listed on calorie count.

What I would be worried about most with rotisserie chicken is the added salt.  Taking the skin off would remove much of the calories from fat plus some of the salt.  If it was one of the little rotisserie chickens I would estimate that just a drumstick of that would be about 3 oz.

Healthy? It's chicken..........It would be unhealthy if the product said "made with 100 % chicken."

I LOVE rotisserie chickens and probably pick them up every other week at least.  Aside from just eating them as is, I shred the meat for sandwiches, soups, quesadillas, casseroles, salads . . . you name it.  Quick and easy.  I take the skin off too and count it as regular chicken breast.
