Like my dad, he's almost twice my weight [only 5 inches taller than me], by the way. Now I love him, but MAN. He yells at me EVERY TIME he sees me eat something. "Aren't you on a diet?" "It's just turkey." "You shouldn't be eating." "But I'm hungry." "So?"
Just makes me so mad >:[ Share your experiences with rude people ;]
This one I laugh about. About 6 years ago I worked with a pretty outspoken lady. Forties, forever single, and in great shape - she ate healthy and worked out all the time. So she asked me in the middle of a busy office if I was getting shorter. I was like 'no, I don't think so', and she then said, 'oh - well it must be all of that weight you've gained that makes you look shorter'. I said - 'yep - that must be it'.
This next example isn't about what is said, but rather what is not said. In the last year or so I've had a few friend / coworkers either give strong hints or blatantly tell me that I need to lose weight. I appreciated their efforts because although I already knew that I needed to get healthier I thought they really cared about me as this is a difficult thing to discuss. Now, 75+ pounds into it they have not said one word of encouragement or given one compliment. I don't need compliments and would rather not talk about it except with my wife, but when just about everyone else is tripping over themselves to congratulate me I find it odd that these people don't even acknowledge it. I don't care what they think as I'm doing this for me and not them anyway ... just thought it was interesting.
I regularly have lunch with a guy who thinks he's always right. He told me one day at lunch that his son has some software that tracks his calories and has a lot of food items available - and if I want to get serious about losing weight then I should look into it. I just gave him a blank stare but was laughing hysterically inside. He has no clue about what tools I use (Calorie Count) and how serious I am. But this is the same guy that thinks if we just limited ourselves to 2 or 3 food choices then we would be able to control our eating - because that's what happens with domesticated dogs.
