I ruined everything...

Quote  |  Reply

Ugh. Had a friend come in town and didn't realize I was meant to be his tour guide around Manhattan. Haven't eaten out in so long and ate both lunch and dinner out today -- Chinese and Italian. I left most of the rice on my plate and at least half of the pasta but I still feel like a cow. And then I get home (only to change before going out again...) and start munching on some Quaker Crunchy Corn Bran. I feel like I've awakened a beast. I am so mad at myself -- why didn't I just order that damn side salad tonight instead of the pasta???? Why am I still unable to control myself when ordering at a restaurant? I mean it's not as though I got a cream sauce or anything, but still -- there were healthier options. I feel like such a failure.

One bad day isn't going to kill you. You're in this for the long run... don't let one bad day get you down.

Chin up.

Don't feel that way!! Have you been generally good with your calories lately?? See today as a reward, you can't possible stay 100% good all the time keep in mind the 80/20 rule. 80% of the time, healthy eating and 20% splurge :):):) I know the guilty feeling, but its unwarranted!! Tomorrow is a new day, just enjoy what you ate today and realise that in the long run, it won't make much of a difference and will make it a lot easier to stick to your plans... being to rigid on your diet only makes losing weight more difficult!! :):)

Thanks very much for your kind words, guys. I think the problem is that I HAVE been good -- for the entire time since I started (a little more than a month ago) and haven't slipped up calorie-wise at all so this feels huge (no pun intended) to me. Either way, I really and truly appreciate the support. This site has been such a Godsend -- you are all amazing.

Just try to keep your head up... one "bad" day isn't going to ruin the whole idea. Everyone deserves to have a day every once in a while that's not MAJOR CC-intensive.

Exactly. I had one of those just the other day, it feels huge, but if you look at it in perspective you see that you slipped up 1 day out of 30, not bad.

You should be proud of yourself!!! Congratulations for being good for all that time and try to treat yourself more often! What's your favourite food which you think is "off limits"??? Have that once a month. If you cut out all the "bad" foods they just become a temptation.

=] keep up the good work.

It's never going to be the end of the world.

spoil yourself once in a while is not a big deal.

just the next day or the next couple of day, keep control of the food , and do more exercise to consume the extra meal.

be positive, no big deal. life goes on. :)

I fell of the wagon about 3x feeling like this eat time before I finally realized.......... its ok!  You will lose the weight!  If you can't have fun and enjoy yourself while you try to lose weight then whats the point?  Chalk it up to a great time out with a friend and just try to have a good week this week.

Really - life is tooo short to get hung up on the little things.  Keep a smile on your face and keep plugging along :)
