I run because:
-the wind on my skin and in my hair feels wonderful
-the muscle burn reminds me how STRONG I am
-my lungs burning reminds me why never to pick up smoking (ew!)
-proves that my stout little body can kick any of those lazy, junk-food-eating sticks in my school's butts if I had to race them!
-gets me into the zone: where worries and issues leave, and all that's left is the ground under my feet, my muscles working together to propel me forward, my breathing, and rythm of each step.
-fantastic work out
Now I just need to find the time to run as often as I used to!
I run because...
- it gives me great "bang-for-my-buck" - calories burned/minute
- I love that my abdominals firmly hold me up (and I know that comes from proper running form)
- it feels like a "workout" and it's sooo good to finish it
- I've never been an athletic person - it makes me proud that now 7k is my short run and I can easily run 10k (maybe a half-marathon is next???)
- it has helped me see how strong I am, both physically and mentally
i run because i have no excuse not to at this point. its sort of a guilt trip thing because i hate it lol
...... I'm being chased! ![]()
I'm more of a weight training kind of person. Give me a little more time on working on my jogging style and maybe I'll come over to the other side by this time next year!
I run because...
- it burns a lot of calories
- I feel great after I run
- I get a little tasty treat that night because I wouldn't want my calorie deficit being too extreme, right?

- I love the way my legs look now that I've been running and working out regularly
- now that I run regularly, I can actually run to catch my train on those days I'm running a little bit behind and when I get on the train, I'm not panting hard enough to cough up a lung
- because I never was a runner and now, with 40 literally just around the corner, I can run a couple of miles without stopping, and that makes me feel really good about myself
I run because....
~ it makes me feel fabulous
~ tones and shapes my fat calves
~ the music on my iPOD jazzes me into keeping the bpm
~ it helps me vary my cardio between bike/elliptical/stairmaster and treadmill
...so I can eat what I want!
I run because:
- When I hit a good pace on a beautiful day on a scenic path, it clears my head and makes me so at peace with everything. There's nothing to worry about but the next step.
- Now I can run and play with my kids without getting winded - something that using the elliptical and stationary cycle never managed.
- Of the sense of accomplishment when I finish a run.
- Of the tee shirts from the 5Ks. =D
- Of the endorphins. ;)
- It's a great calorie-burner.
- It does wonders for my cardiovascular system.
To be honest I don't run often at this point - but I'm hoping to get into it more with the warmer weather.
I want to run because it is such a raw true form of exercise. No equipment. No blinking lights. It is a natural movement that gets you outside the gym/house/work. It moves you to new places or gives you a new perspective of familiar places.
It releases stress and makes you feel accomplished. It is measurable and can actually be useful.
However if you aren't enjoying your runs - maybe it is time to try something else new? Roller blading? Biking? Swimming? No point in forcing yourself to do something you aren't enjoying. Our exercise tastes are allowed to change with time. :)
I run/walk because:
I run because
I listen to good tunes on my ipod while watching sportscenter with closed captioning. Which is what I'd be doing even if I didn't run. So why not spend the hour running. It's easier when your occupied, LOL.
1 hour running with sportscenter= 730 calories burned= maybe a wee little "treat" tonight after supper?
1. I ran because I didn't have the coordination to do anything else.
2. I ran for Team in Training
3. I ran because it was reminded me of bieng in the states
4. I ran because my brother and a friend asked me to
5. I run for inner stregnth, when my mind said you can't do it, my body said, you just did!
6. I run when I'm stressed
7. I run run when I'm mad
8. I run when I don't want to
9. Mostly, I run because it's just fun.
Because I want to run further, longer, and faster than I did yesterday!
i love running because
its the best excercise, i like listening to music and letting my mind wander, i feel great during and afterwards, i feel stronger, it makes my legs and bum look fantastic, it burns more calories than any other excercise (in my opinion), its easy, its free, and fun!
p.s.
i only like running outside
treadmill is too boring
because i am forced to! MILITARY pt test makes me complete 2 mile in certain time requirements...... i suck at running so i have to work up to being decent enough to pass the test each year (every 6 months now)
also i do it when i can b/c it is the best way to burn burn burn the cals
it's mandatory according to the military, lol but it does makes my butt lift and my thighs and calves look great!
I love listening to the music that I only allow myself to listen to when I run.
Running helps me clear my mind and no matter what mood Im in when I start, I finish my work out in the best mood!
I love trying to beat my records and when I run its easy to keep track of my distance and the number of calories I burned
Its easy to get into-if I am not in the mood I start out walking and slowly increase my speed and before I know it I am running!
I run because I need to...
It feels great when you finish and after awhile you can tell that your heart feels healthier, and more importantly, YOU are healthier..
I also love to sweat, I go out there in a SWEAT Jacket and I finish with a puddle of sweat...I know it's gross but I absolutely love it...
Also I run at a regional park its about 6 Miles up hill and at the end i have a killer view of the Bay Area...It's awesome...
See ya, keep running..
BECAUSE I SIGNED UP FOR MY FIRST RACE IN MAY, SEVEN MILES!![]()
I want to run (starting the C25K program this week) because walking is too slow.
I am competitive. Now that so many people are walking for health in my office I have to up the ante.
I want to catch that really sexy guy who runs by me on my walks.
I want to be thin enough my thighs wont rub together.
I want to out run the lose dogs in my neighborhood.
I want to get my son to be more active and I hope he will see that if fat old mom can run, he can too.
I want to be able to catch the ice cream truck.
I want to run to work on "walk and bike to work day". I could walk it, but it is 11 miles. It will be faster if I run
Running makes me feel like a super hero.
