For Runners....how many calories on running/non-running days?
I run a good bit. Probably around 25-30 miles per week. I also
do pretty heavy strength training to counteract any muscle loss from
all the running. I've been told by some people that when they stopped
running, they lost inches because when they were running they weren't
eating enough. So this brings me to me to my question...
.....for serious runners, how many calories do you eat on running days and non-running days? I probably eat between 1700-2000 on running days (anywhere from 4-6 miles) and and 1600-1800 on non-running days. On non-active days my body burns about 2000 calories, and I am only looking to lose maybe 10lbs, really its not even weight, id like to lose about 2in off my waist and 1 off my thighs. I'm just afraid I'm being counteractive with all the running. Any opinions, suggestions, experiences with this?

I use that calculater to find out around how many calories I've burned on a run. I aim for atleast 1400-1500 on non-running (sedentary) days but on running days I eat anywhere from 1700-2200 depending on how long I ran. But on non-running active days I aim for atleast 1800-1900..on those days I do some light cardio (ex: elliptical) and do weight training.
I run anywhere from 3.5-4.5 miles on running days. Thinking about eventually upping my mileage but the winter weather is making me stay put.
I run 3.5 to 4 miles everyday. I was trying to stick to 1,500 calories but it just isn't enough. I have upped my calorie intake to about 1,650. Sometimes I go up to 1,750 depending on how hungry I am. I have only been on this schedule for about three weeks. Prior to that I was running 2 to 2.5 miles everyday. 1,500 calories seemed to be fine then, but not so much now.
I've been wondering the same thing myself..I run 6-8 miles a day, around 40-45 per week as well as some light weight training and usually an additional 20-40 minutes of cardio after my run..with that some days I was eating around 2000-2400 a day and I don't know if that was too much?I'm not really looking to lose much maybe 2 or 3 pounds if it happens great if not I'd like to maintain where I'm at..
