Running!

Quote  |  Reply

ok- so I am starting my exercise routine back up and frankly, there is no gyms around me and I have just moved to a new city and have no idea where anything is or know anyone to help.

I am going to start running in the mornings and at night. Is this a successful way to exercise? I've been told yes and no.

I also am afraid of the community that I am in, I am a country girl who just moved to the city so I am on constant lookout whenever I am alone. (especially at night) I dont live in a "gang" neighborhood but  there is quite a bit of violence, what are some other ways to exercise close to home or in my home.. anyone's advice is much appreciated!

Mornings are a great way to boost your metabolism and burn off fat. Who said that running in the morning/night isn't good?
I don't live in a very nice area of London, and I feel safe running because I found another lady to run with.  It's also a great motivator.  There are also lots of running clubs about which organise runs  ;in groups to suit all&nb sp;abilities (although my University one does not suit my schedule unfortunately....).

Most cities have areas parks, running tracks and paths where people run a lot, so finding out where that is in your neighbourhood, would mean that you would probably never be running totally alone.

Running is a cheap and very flexible way to get fit and burn those calories, so I hope you find a way to get out there and pound that pavement safely!

I always carry pepper spray when I run. Even when running with a freind, which is safer too. Good luck.
