Yesterday I went for a 6.2 mile run from 10am-11am.
Everything was great. Hung outside with my kid... did some exercises. Had a shower. Decided to go out with the family for an adventure day. We packed up the car and headed out (I drove).
At around 4pm we were at an animal park and my foot started to hurt. Every time I would put pressure on it it would send a pain up my heel/ankle. It got worse over night.
Today I can't walk on my foot. I can walk on the ball of my foot no problem, but the second I put my foot flat... owie!
Is this something from running? Anyone felt this?
One of my friends suggested it might be Plantar fasciitis. Anyone heard of this?
Could be..sounds like it. Only a dr that looks at your foot [with possible xrays and scans will be able to tell.
If it is Plantars Faciitis, do NOT walk on the ball of your foot...even though it feels better that way, ironically, you are making it worse. There are stretching techniques to help reduce pain [usually done before getting out of bed] and icing..but you should see a doctor first.
Thanks.
So strange that it started to hurt 6 hours after my run. Altho I was wearing flip flops after.. so maybe thats it. Hhhmm. I will stay off it as much as possible.
I had Plantar fasciitis last year in one foot. It felt like a knife sticking up into my heel.
To help it heal, I did the achilles stretch 5-6 times a day for about 6-8 weeks and did my best to NEVER go without shoes with a good padding in them. I don't wear flip-flops so it was easy for me to wear decent shoes most of the time. I got some Dr. Scholl's heel inserts designed for plantar fascitis, which helped quite a bit. I also took advil regularly and stretched my achilles tedon in bed before walking on it in the morning.
If that is what you have, there is lots of good info out there to help you through it. Good luck.
I had the exact same problem. Foot would hurt like crazy if I laid it flat on the ground.
I had this pain for 2 weeks straight but I still went running on it cause I didn't care and it only hurt for half the time. lol
I don't know why it hurt and I never saught a doctor's help on it but it just went away on it's own.
So strange - but my foot feels better after wearing heels to work this week! I swear no more pain.
This is a real bummer as I wear flip flops and flat shoes all the time! DANG!.
I am going to take a week off from running to make sure its rested. I also have a girlfriend in town visiting and don't want to make it worse while she is here.
Thanks for your input and suggestions. I am going to look into the insoles
Are you're shoes providing the proper support for your foot? There many different types out there (high arch, low arch, under and over pronation, neutral support etc.
oops, posted twice... sorry!
