Running in the morning or evening?
Hey guys,
Im just starting running, and I was wondernig what you think is better, running in the morning or evening? Im just looking for opinions, since Im curious. I love running in the morning, but find it kills me later in the day when Im too tired to think straight.
What do you prefer?
I prefer running in the morning. I feel it sets the tone for my day.
all of our bodies are different when it comes to when we should exercise. I suggest trying each for about a week and see when you got the best workout. Of course, you should leave both options open just in case you miss you run one morning or night, you still have the opportunity to make up for it. As well, depending on your day when you get your best workout might change.
However, having said all of that, I go for the morning. It is really difficult to get yourself motivated after a long day and as a result way too easy to put it off until "tomorrow". As well, a good morning workout can make you positive for the rest of the day.
Two runs a week are in the evening after supper.
My long run on the weekend is in the morning.
I prefer later in the day when my body has warmed up. In the morning I feel creaky and slow. And it's not age, I've felt like that since I'm a teenager. Night running is the best for me! People are different.
I prefer in the mid morning after breakfast. Last week I had to go before dinner at 6pm and was pleasantly surprised with the shade, breeze and smiling people at my usual place.
i love running just before dusk...maybe 6 or 7pm. but some days it is really hard to get motivated after a long day.
anyone have any suggestions for waking my lazy butt up in the morning and going first thing? i tend to be slower in the morning but once i've run a mile or two, i finally wake up. i do like getting it over with in the morning and feel better all day....any suggestions??
My mom's a doctor she said something that if you wake up and run ur just making it worse for ur heart. So if I were you I'd do it in the evening....
I prefer running in the mid morning to evening time. When I was younger I ran first thing in the morning and was fine but now I have to have something in my stomach but I can't have just eaten.
I have done some 10K and half marathon and it makes it difficult as I have to wake up @ 5AM or so to eat and so I can be primed for race times @ 8AM or 9AM.
Good Luck - run when you can and eat something 200 cal prior and water and then something afterwards within 1/2 hour so that you muscles can start to recover.
I generally don't have the energy or time to run in the morning (except on weekends) so I run every evening after work. On weekends though, i do try to get up early for a nice, invigorating run.
