Hi,

I have been lurking in the background of these forums for months!!! I started the summer wanting to drop a few lbs - well about 20 - to feel good in my summer clothes! Well after a few weeks i gave up - i didint think it was for me! I sarted to look for drastic ways to drop my weight - like massive calorie cuts and stopping meals - stupid i know but i was desperate! Of corse none of it worked!

Well in the last couple of weeks i  have managed to encourage my OH to set up a mini gym in our home and i have been using it ever since. Mainly on the bike, weights, sit ups and on my trampette (which i love and really recommend) but i started to get a bit ambitous!! Yesterday i came on here and read a few theads about running..... I have to say you guys on here totally encouraged me to run - start slowly and add little by little. So last night my boyfriend and his dad put together to buy a running machine. I cant wait to go home and get on it - i know its not going to be easy but reading all the threads on here about it i feel totally inspired.

So to put an end to my ramble i just want to say a big massive THANK YOU!!!!!! you have all encouraged me to learn to run!! i am determined and i WILL do it!

Very true! Often I'm running and loving every second. Sometimes though, every single step I'm chanting "why I am doing this? I hate this. Why can't I just go back home. I'm throwing away these running shoes"

Good days and bad days. Good days are fantastic, bad days suck but that's like anything else I guess

And go buy yourself a good pair of sneakers.  There is nothing that makes running more horrible than the wrong pair of shoes.

Good luck and have fun!

Yes, running was scary at first I thought man this is gonna be hard. However, little steps take you long ways. I started by walking, then jogging, finally running. I like to do interval of fast walking jogging and fast running I burn more calories that way. Also a must to stay motivated and mp3 player with your favorite songs and preferably upbeat tempos.
