Running when sick.
Questions:
1. Did I get sick because of the temperature difference in California and Israel ?
2. Did I get sick as a result of entering a freezing air conditioned room while sweating?
3. Should I still run today even though I have a really sore throat, running nose ?
You got sick because you contracted rhinovirus (the common cold) from someone.
You can run, if you go *easy*, and *short* (30 minutes maybe, or less). Exercising hard while you are sick merely prolongs the illness, as you depress your immune system from the hard effort, and your body really needs rest to recover.
Thanks for the advice
If it doesn't go away by tomorrow, then you probably just caught a simple cold.
I work with kids, so I get colds a couple times a year. I'm also an avid runner. I will USUALLY run with the cold. I find it actually clears out my sinuses and I feel better afterwards. HOWEVER, I will slow my pace down when I have a cold, and sometimes shorten the length.
If I'm running a fever, then I skip the run. Never run with the flu.
I'll bet you did get it on the plane. The air's recirculated through the whole cabin, meaning that if someone had a cold, everyone was exposed to it. Not only that but the long flight, stress on your body probably weakend you a little so you got the cold.
Run if you can, just go slower and shorter like everyone says. If you start feeling bad at any time during the run, like lightheaded or something, stop stressing your body.
Drink plenty of fluids!
