Running- A Surprised Convert
I've always been one of those people who hates working out and running. When they made me run that obligatory yearly mile in gym class as a kid, I wanted to kill myself. And not more than two months ago, a formerly lazy and overweight friend of mine told me that she loved to run, and I (secretly) thought she was either lying or crazy. Actually, no, not secretly. I actually CALLED her crazy!
But it's happened to me, too. Just so I could burn more calories after my other workouts, I started hopping on the treadmill afterwards... starting off with walking/running intervals and working my way up to more running and more time. Today I did 6km for the first time and... I'm addicted. I love it. I can't wait to get back to it.
Who'd a thunk it? I like to run. I look forward to it. And I just went on eBay and bought a pair of too-expensive running shoes so I can keep doing it without hurting myself in my ultra-crap 10€ sneakers.
Wow. I like to run. Since there are so many runners here, this seems like a good place to celebrate it!
Inspiring! I hope that's me, too. :)
karenlyn2, I am delighted that you "get it". Keep inspiring others to join us!!
It happened to me too and I'm as surprised as you are. You may enjoy reading "Born to Run" by Christopher McDougall, it's a very fun, entertaining and surprisingly informative book on ultramarathon running. Who'd have thought that we evolved to be endurance runners? It's not crazy afterall, it's your nature! After you read the book though, you may rethink if it's worthwhile spending too much on running shoes.
Yeah I like running too and that mile in school I think I walked it ![]()
Anyway it is a great sport and doesn't require a gym.
Happy Miles!
