Running 2x a day - is that good/bad ?

Quote  |  Reply

I have started running for 25mins in the morning (6:30am-7am) and then again when I get home from work (6:00pm-6:30pm).

I'm really enjoying it and feeling great.

Is this too much running or exercise in a day?

I would say, just from your description... no...  Most peeps don't run twice a day unless they are trying to get in some really high mileage weeks.  If that is working for you, then I say run with it (pun intended!).  Just listen to your body and watch for sharp aches and pains.  Follow the 10% rule if/when you start to add more minutes.  At a minimum, if running is your only exercise, two days off a week is a good idea.

Have fun!

Hi there-

I do that as well.  I run for about 30 minutes in the morning and 45-60 minutes in the afternoon.  I feel great!!

Well that totally depends on your build, really. If you're on the light side, have at it. If you're heavier, you're gonna kill your poor joints. When I was really thin I could run for hours. Now it's 30 minutes or bye bye knees. Also, see age Cry I just turned 40. The old gal doesn't work like she used to

I do the same thing as well...run very early in the monring and then again in the late afternoon. I think it has trained my body (specifically my legs) to speed up in recovery and get used to doing it every day. I feel great.

Thanks

I'm not heavy per say - but I'm no feather weight either lol.   I don't want to kill the joints so maybe will try pushing for a bigger run in the morning and letting them rest a night (means more time with my family too).

A friend of mine didn't run her first marathon until she was in her fifties.  She has a leaky heart valve.  She just completed her first 100K (62 miles).  You are still a young lady :-)
