Goooooo Team!!!! Minnie Me's works for me! What is everyone's background? :)
I like Minnie Me's too... and our slogan should be "In it to win it." hahahahah or Lose it I guess... "In it to LOSE!!!!"
hhahahah
My background: been pudgy all my life... was 137 for 2 years.. once 3 years ago... then I let it slip away over the course of one HORRIBLE relationship.... Now im pumped to take my life back from the sugary retched hands of doughnuts and junk food....

Hmm...I like the Minnie Me's name too.
Background- I've never been particularly thin, but since I graduated high school I have gained 60 pounds! I still can't believe that number! I've lost about 15 over the past month, and am trying to keep it going. I am getting my Master's Degree in May and my goal is to have lost 30 pounds by then. I'm half way there, but I'm also realistic and know the weight gets harder to lose as time goes on- I really need moral support and I think this is gonna be great and we're gonna win!!!

How about SLIMFAST!!! just a suggestion.....
I am 39, and weigh about 193/94 right now (just weighed this morning) I have always struggled with my weight, have NEVER been small - but this is the biggest i have every been. I gained 50 lbs with each child - i have 2 - now the youngest is 5. I weighed this towards the 8th month of my first pregnancy. It is time to shed this weight now. I am seriously thinking about sewing my mouth shut. I just want to cry - NOW i am turning a new leaf - with this as my motivation - for the past week i have been keeping my caloric intake under 1600 and working out at the gym 2 days weight training and 3/4 cardio classes per week. I am eating only healthy foods and trying to keep my portion size down. I really need to do this. One of my problems is i like instant gratification and unfortunately it is impossible to achieve that in a safe manner.
Well team, i definately will serve you all well. I am trying with all my might!!

Minne Me's sounds like a winner. I like that.
I have had issues with my weight since I was a child. I've never found comfort in being the size that I am. It weighs heavy on my self esteem, but two years ago I started a diet and increased my activity. I got down to 170! I was so thrilled. I let it all go when I stopped working and started school full time. Over that time my weight increased to 240. Life hit me really hard last October when my relationship of nine years went sour. I was so depressed about everything I ended up losing ten pounds and when I finally started coming around I decided to get healthy and focus on my studies. I have gotten down to 210 and I am looking forward to working hard through this challenge with the support and love from you guys. I'm ready to take them downnnnn!

I like Mini Me's, but could we spell it right? Mini instead of Minnie....unless that's a play on words for something that I'm not aware of. Sorry, most of my job is spent editing, so it's a pet peeve, I guess.
I've always struggled with my weight. I've been skinny before, but it never lasted long. I stayed ok during high school, crept up in college, went back down with Nutri-System, got married and had 4 kids, and now am about 70 lbs above where I need to be.
That's my story.
Go US!

Hey everyone!
I'm Lisette. I'm 25 and from Toronto.
I haven't always struggled with my weight. I was fine until I hit puberty LOL
I don't really remember when I started gaining - but it was probably the time I hit 18. I was "OK" weight-wise through highschool, even though I was a bit overweight (170lbs). It didn't faze me, as I was more worried about the state of my face (acne).
I really ballooned up after a really bad break-up. I gained about 30lbs just moping about for a long while.
Then, I met my current boyfriend - and all we ever did was eat! Loads of food. After hitting 230lbs, I said enough was enough and I started surfing the web, trying to find out how the heck I was going to lose the weight. I started that weight loss journey in March of 2005. Eight months later, I dropped down to 175.
After hitting that mark in November of 2005, I was happy. It was by no means my final goal, but I was getting pretty darn close. Then I slipped. It was the "holidays" and with family get togethers and added stress from work, I started eating again. All I would eat was pizza. Lots of it - with wings and garlic bread too. I went back up to 200 within a year.
So here I am, 2007 and ready to get RID of all this excess fat I've accumulated over the years.
I wish everybody the best of luck! We can do this team, let's kick ASS :D

Hi team-
I figured Minnie Me was a play on words sort of.....Minnie Mouse is pretty thin! And Mini Me was a smaller version of the same person in that Austin Powers' movie.....up to you how to spell it.
As for my background, I'm 47, and last year was the heaviest I've ever been. I've always been athletic and slim, but in the last 5 years, due to various injuries, perimenopause, and eating wrong, I've managed to put on about 35-40 lbs. I do work out like crazy at least an hour a day sometimes 2 or 3. I swim with a masters program 3-4 times a week, do spinning classes and try to walk during my lunch hours and try to do weights 2 or 3 times after work. I am hoping that this contest will keep me motivated in eating right.

yay! i like the Minnie Me's that works well, i've always thought theres a smaller me inside. As for my background i've always been kinda pudgy, but i was always really active in sports and swimming, I came to college and that kinda changed and things accumulated. I was still eating the same as if I was burning 6000 calories a day. yeah. regardless to say I put on alot of weight because of it. I figure though, its a new year, I'm about to graduate and go out into the "real" world and move to a different country so I don't want to continue my horrible habits. It's been kinda hard so far, but i'm a really competitive person so i think this will help me keep on track.
whohoo! can't wait till tomorrow!
Minni Me's sounds great!
I've always considered myself pudgy, but looking back now...it was obviously an image thing. I was one of those girls that "matured" early. Yeah...so needless to say I was developed and "voluptuous" by 7th grade. I managed to get down to 158 after my son was born, but went back to work and gained 60lbs. I'm just fed up and ready to do something about it!! I'm now 8 lbs down, only 65 to go!!

ok.....who posted that adorable lil' mascot? I LOVE it!
I'm glad you liked the mascot. :D
It looks like The Minnie Me's is officially our team name.
Now about myself -----
Would you believe that when I was born I was under 1 pound? Ohhh yes I was! When I started to walk I wore size 0 baby shoes. Yeppers, I was small. All of my life doctors were trying to get me to put on weight. If they could only see me now!
When I got married to my first husband I was 97 lbs. Sometimes I think, "Oh, those were the days," but I know that was too small. But beleive you me, I sure do feel the extra 100 pounds today! I gained some of this baggage while going through a very bad marriage, and the rest I gained after meeting my second husband. You see, he is a truck driver, and I use to travel with him all the time. Now going into a truck stop and eating greasy truck stop food was no help, but then going straight back to the truck and sitting the rest of the day was no form of exercise. The only exercise I got was when I reached my arm out for a bag of chips or a bottle of pop. You know... those BIG bags of chips and the mega bottles of pop? That's what I lived on for many years. My body blossomed into the beautiful beast it is now... then I decided to stay home and lose some of this lard.
After years of eating garbage and doing nothing but sitting, I am finding it hard to get myself up and moving again. I long to get back to being the person that can move around with out an effort. I can do this... oh yes I can.... and so can YOU!!!!

Hey Team!
It's February 1st! Time to start kicking weight out the door!
Have any of you set goals for the week or month?
I think if we post our goals, we can keep tabs on how everyone is doing and stay on track.
This month, I plan to do 800 minutes of cardio. And drink 2-3 litres of water every day.
So far so good, 30 mins of cardio done and 1 litre of water gone :)

So far I've been managing to lose weight through diet alone. I'm a single mom, who works in an office all day, by the time I get home make supper and finish my homework (my son's really, but feels like mine) I never have time to fit exercise in. I walk a lot, but sometimes it doesn't feel like enough. So my goal this month is to try and exercise at least three times a week and drink 4 bottles of water a day!!
I'm on the treadmill sweating it out every morning for about 50 minutes at 3mph with some incline. But it's not doing anything for my big old gut, so I guess I'm gonna have to hit the floor and use that 20 minute pilates video I have. Other than that I'm gonna keep it moving like K said while cooking and cleaning. I like to listen to music while doing that stuff so I can shake this fat off. Sounds like fun! Staying away from that high fat food and drinking 4 to 5 bottles of waters daily. Hey, when I get burned out on the salads and Lean Cuisines I'm gonna need you guys to give me some ideas! Goooooo Team!
Ohh im good at composing meals, girlie, so whenever you want to do that, you let me know!
Oh yes! I'd like some meal ideas too. I'm always lost at what to make. Being home alone all the time is the hardest thing for me. I just want something fast and easy.
Hmmm, but we don't want the other teams to steal our menu plans! LOL

Hahhah
My most favorite speedy meal is Chicken breast, Spaghetti squash, and either whole wheat pasta or whole wheat rice, or another veggie, like carrots, peas, or broccoli.
The chicken breast, I cook in my George formen grill cause it only take like 8 minutes, or you can cook a few at the beginning of the week and then use them up.
The squash is SUPER easy to make, and really tasty! I use spaghetti squash or acorn squash. Cut it in half and put it on in a microwave dish or plate, cut side down, and put 3-4 tablespoons of water around it, cover with platic wrap and microwave it for 8 minutes, then check it, you might need to put it on for another 2 minutes or so, depending on how big a squash it is. It should be really soft, kinda like mashed potatoes. If its spaghetti squash then scrape it with a fork so that it shaves off in strands that look like spaghetti, top with 2-3 tblsp of spaghetti sc, and some shake cheese. If its an acorn squash then once its done cooking, flip it cut side up poke holes in it with a fork and spray it with that no calorie butter spray (or use real butter, just watch the portion size of butter). Let the butter soak in and enjoy. If you have the calories left over adn are craving something sweet, add a tablespoon of brown sguar to the acorn squash, right after butter spray and mix it in. (Thats IF and ONLY IF you have the calories available! Otherwise it still tastes amazing with butter spray).
I use alot of frozen veggies because they are convientient... and I dont really like raw veggies (except lettuce).

I need meal ideas too. I have to cook for a family of 6 every day, so it's really hard. My husband's been on the weight loss bandwagon too, so it's nice to be able to have something for us both that's healthy so I'm not tempted. But it's hard to please the kids sometimes. I find that it can get really expensive to eat healthy. That's such a shame.
