Is there anyone else who would like to take up the challenge of a 120's/110's club. I think that we could use some support too. I found them for the 130's and I was in that one, but now i'm below and need a new group, so I'm starting one. Anyone want to join? It doesn't matter if you are already there or if this category is your goal! I'm 5'6" and at a 126lbs. My goal is my prepregnancy weight of 115 lbs. I currently eat 1,200 calories a day, and burn 1,900. I've been eating healthy, and not really exercising, but would like to start soon. Anyone who wants to join, feel free! Let's all support each other!

Yes, I have always been really regular in the menstrual cycle dept. and I always had anywhere from 26-28 day cycles.  In the past 5 or 6 months they are ranging anywhere from 21-29 days.  I am having them every month just very erratic.  As far as the depression goes, prior to getting pregnant with my daughter I was on anti-depressants but obviously had to go off of them when I got pregnant and have not gone back on them since.  My previous problems with depression may just be resurfacing.  I have had people tell me that weight loss can affect your cycle, so I was just curious about everyone elses experience since losing weight.
I lost a significant amount of weight right after I had my daughter, it was falling off pound after pound. I was nursing her and eating egg whites, salads and mostly fish. I didn't have a menstrual cycle at all, but the dr told me I may not while nursing. I wasn't depressed, but after I stopped nursing her I started eating more and things that weren't so good for me and then I went into severe mood swings. My husband says I'm still like this (moody,4 months after I stopped nursing)

Why is it so easy to take care of your body and eat right when you are pregnant or nursing, vs just doing it for yourself?

I agree, some people must just have a mindset and maybe don't obsess over what they are going to eat each day. I'm not one of those people :) I wake up thinking about what I'm going to eat and go to bed regretting what I did eat!!!
My cycle was a bit off during the first 6 months after I had my boy. I've also had it change a tiny bit when I got really stressed out, but I've always made sure that I had a healthy body fat % when I was watching my weight, or working out.

Normally the menstrual cycle will not be affected by diet/exercise unless you're body fat percentage is too low. Stress can also cause some changes. Still, in the first year postpartum the cycle can be different than usual, but keep your doctor informed of any major changes

I do know that what you eat can also affect how the brain functions, so I'd up the omega 3s, since they are good for that.

I would still tell your doctor. I had never had any problems with depression, but after I had my baby boy, I had a terrible time with it for 6 months. The good news is that the hormones can level out, but I would still seek the advice of a professional about that.
I'd like to join too! I'm currently at 115 and would like to get down to about 108. I run and lift weights but my weight doesnt seem to budge. I'm stuck. My trainer says i should be eating 1600 calories a day for how much i work out. If i'm eating less than that why arent i losing weight? I'm blaming it on the fact that i just turned 44! ugh. any tips on how to lose 10lbs in a month? Is it possible?
I'd say that 10 pounds in a month is way way to fast. It should be more like 2 lbs a month. You don't want to hurt yourself. =\
thanks for the advice! my trainer said it was possible but difficult. so far this week i'm down 2 lbs. and if i can do 2 a month that would be great! i seem stuck but dont want to do anything drastic. maybe if i up my cardio a bit?
I seem to be flunctuating between 123 and 125lbs right now. I know I really need to get back up and start exercising. Running isn't my thing, and my gym key is lost. Does anyone have any effective at home exercises they do that they recommend?

kheather- I can see why you are confused since you have a lot going on that could influence your cyle!  I am not sure if you are/were breastfeeding, but from what I've heard it takes a while to return to your normal cycle.  One of my best also had episodes of depression before getting pregnant and it was really bad afterward for her...the combination of the hormones, the sleep deprivation, not being able to take care of herself, all took its toll.  Good for you for committing to some healthy changes.

ohmyitslea- I always find getting out and running works for me, but I know a ton of people that really like the tae bo tapes and the firm workouts.  What type of activity are you looking for...strength training? aerobics? low intenstity? high intensity?  If we knew more, you could probably get more helpful suggestions.

I am day 4 of joining and journaling.  Yeah-- each day is another small victory!
Hey all I'll join totally. My CW: 117lbs and I wanna go down to 110lbs-ish. So ya I'll join!
Hi All!!!  I want to join too:)

I'm 5'1 and a half!!! And currently weigh 124, want to go to 110 for my wedding. Im in London and its awful with the start of winter- all i want to eat comforting carbs!!!!  Its so difficult - even though my wedding is next year- i really want to lose this weight in 3 mths or so, just so i can begin maintenance.

Anyone else out there in this cold finding this so very difficult at the moment???
Well, if you think it's cold in London, it's even colder in Finland! We just had a huge amount of snow, and for the last few days it's been around -10C or so. That's around 14F. I find the colder weather has me wanting more soups, stews... that kind of thing. Although I can sympathise with you, since I've always been a carbohydrate/pasta addict myself. Good luck with your goals!
mary1627, I was thinking something around strength training and aerobics. I'm not sure, though. The most I've ever "worked out" was on the stationary bicycle, or walking on a treadmill. Those things tend to get boring, though. I would run, but I'm a smoker, so that tends to make things a little more difficult =P
cyberminx-

I know how you feel about those carbs. I think low fat broths with negative cal veggies, and low fat meats are really comforting when you're cold.

I have this amazing recipe/ fast thing from that "french women don't get fat" book. I'm off to try it my self this weekend. It's this hot yummy leek soup (It's a negative calorie food), and the hot broth is so good on those cold days ^_^ I'm sure it's in the recipe  forum, but I'll post it here for you. (you can snack on this soup or the leeks any time you want as well)

Magical Leek Soup (Broth). Serves 1 for the weekend.

Ingredients: 2 pounds leeks

1. Clean the leeks and rinse well to get rid of sand and soil. Cut off the ends of the dark green parts, leaving all the white parts plus a suggestion of pale green. (Reserve the extra greens for soup stock.)

2. Put the leeks in a large pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat, and simmer uncovered for 20 to 30 minutes. Pour off the liquid and reserve. Place the leeks in a bowl.

The juice is to be drunk (reheated or at room temperature to taste) every 2 to 3 hours, 1 cup at a time. For meals, or whenever hungry, have some of the leeks themselves, 1/2 cup at a time. Drizzle with a few drops of extra-virgin olive oil and lemon juice. Season sparingly with salt and pepper. Sprinkle with chopped parsley if you wish.

This will be your nourishment for both days, until Sunday dinner, when you can have a small piece of meat or fish (4 to 6 ounces), with 2 vegetables, steamed with a bit of butter or olive oil, and a piece of fruit.
OK. How do you guys deal with a husband who comes home with hot roundtable pizza just for you?

I was still ok as far as my daliy calories were concerned after the pizza, but it's so bad for me >.< I have the hardest time telling him that I don't whant to eat stuff like that because I do want it! =( I know that things like that are really slowing down my weight loss, even if my calorie count is ok...sigh. I can say no to my self, but I can't say no to my wonderful husband showing up with food just for me.

Any advice?

P.S. I'm so doing that leek thing this weekend now >.<
Avis - does your husband know you are trying to lose weight? My husband does things like that, he'll bring home a pepermint patti or ice cream, when I refuse to eat it he gets upset with me. I used to eat it rather than make him upset, but then I realized I was just hurting myself. He's also trying to lose weight and I think when he has given in to something he feels better about me giving in with him. That's not healthy, maybe you should tell your husband how much you appreciate him bringing home treats for you, but a real gift would be to help you with your weight loss goals and you can both celebrate once you've reached it.
Kick him hard, did he do it on purpose? Kick him even harder.
Well, that could be good therapy :)
Thank you guys ^_^

Hahaha. I guess I can tell him that I just might kick him if he tempts me with bad food. =P

I think he thinks it's cute when I give in and go for his bad food. He is super skinny, and he eats only once a day, if that. When he does eat it's terrible junk food. I think I really have to be tough, and firm with him. I think I should try your advice dpalacios. I'll just tell him that I need him to help me with this.
Yeah just tell him how you feel about it, and make sure he understands and that he won't do it again. ;)
2 things.

Husbands usually don't notice our extra weight like we do, if they are good ones (like mine) they always think you are beautiful!

We are in the 110/120's club, most people get sick when I say "I need to lose weight" they always say "you don't need to lose weight" I'm 136 and stuck, I'm 5'4" and feel that I can afford to lose weight, and the dimples in my butt think the same thing. It is just as hard for smaller people to lose weight as people who are really heavy and we feel the same as they do, unhealthy, can't fit into our clothes right, still wearing long sleeves and pants at the gym! I'm glad we started this group and it seems to be getting more supportive. That's what anyone who has any type of goal needs from their closest family and friends.
