I went to the gym today! Really made me feel good. I did 5 miles on the bike and I only lasted 10 minutes on the treadmill before my leg started hurting. Some days I can walk alot and others I just can't do it at all. But I'm glad the bike is something I can do even when my back and leg hurt.
No strawberry shortcake today either! GO MEEEEE!!!! lol :D
I ate good today and I feel great about making it thru the day doing well.
ladyelizabeth - I know all about the sciatic nerve. I have nerve damage (the s1 nerve root) that makes me have chronic pain in my leg, so I can certainly emphathize with you. And it took me a long time to get my metabolism up again. I'm 43 and mine was shot! Mostly from not eating right.
petchy - Wow! Good for you getting a cross trainer. :D
Talk to ya'all later! :)
Good for you!!!!!!! That's the trick-one day at a time. I had been doing good for most of the week until one of the girls at work made baklava. I had never had it, but I have now. Uh oh!!!! I am going to put that on my hit list!!!!!![]()
I can't even imagine how many calories are in that.
Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!That is a great achievement!!!! You are on your way!!!!
OMGosh! Baklva! I love that stuff. They sell it at the farmers market by us. It's just so sweet!!! But oh so good!!! I love the crust!
I went to the gym today and just rode the bike. I shouldn't down play the bike! I really worked out on it. 45 minutes and 7 miles of hard work!!! I kept my heart rate at about 120-130 doing intervals where I pedaled 30 seconds keeping heart rate at 120, then pedaled like a mad woman for 30 seconds keeping my HR at 130. Did I say it was hard work??? I put the bike on level 4 so I'd have to pedal fast.
Lord knows how many calories I burned doing that. I wish I could buy a HR monitor. Just can't afford it. I know it would be worth it knowing exactly how many cals I was burning. Oh well....
ro50bin - you didn't tell us how your day went. Come on....did you do good? Did you exercise any today???
I did well eating today, and I was intentionally trying to eat extra Calories. Because of my moderately strenuous job, I needed to eat a minimum of 1668 Calories (for a 1000 deficit). I ate about 1768, for exactly 900 deficit. What's more, I ate 48 grams of fat (usually reserved for 35 - 50 g), 96 grams of protein (usually 80 - 100 is good), and 180 carbohydrates (175 - 200), and whatever 12% of other was. I ate a cup and a half of macaroni and cheese, for Pete's sakes!
Anyways, my weight's been up for a few days, to 163 - 165, and I'm hoping to see the 150's by the end of the month.
good morning momof2funykids!!! I did yoga yesterday on wii fit and I am doing it again this am. As far as eating yesterday. I did very good up until late afternoon when I ate baklava. So today is a new day!!!!! Have a great day and I will check in after work!!!!TGIF!!!!!!!
Hi wendyb27, how are you doing with your wii fit? Is it helping you alot? I love the way it tells you how long it's been since you have been on. That helps me stay on track. In fact I am headed there now. Have a great day!!
ro50bin~ I LOVE the wii fit!! Yoga is my favorite part, I could do that all day! When you work out, what sections do you do? I usually start with a little yoga, and move on to some strength training and then go back and forth until I complete all of the strength training and each yoga pose. After that, I usually do some of the aerobics, like the Basic Step and some Boxing to finish it off. I'm usually at it for about an hour or so. The yoga has made me so much more flexible and my balance is getting really good. That darn tree pose had me falling over in the beginning, but now I can hold it pretty well... a little wiggly, but I'll stick it eventually. :P
Been a little bummed this week because I only lost a little over a half pound. :( I've been exercising so much more and eating good, so it's very frustrating. I'm about seven or eight pounds away from my goal, but yet it seems so hard to reach! People have been telling me that I most likely only lost the half pound because I've been working out more and toning my body, creating more muscle, which weighs more... my legs are getting more toned and my stomach is a little flatter, so maybe they're right? On the bright side, my boss told me yesterday that I "look skinny"! One of my other coworkers hadn't seen me in a week and commented that I look like I "keep losing weight", so that makes me feel a little better. At least people are noticing. :)
Leo~ Just wanted to comment on your new pic... looking good! I can tell a difference from the other pics, especially in your face.
Keep up the good work!!!
Just wanted to say "Have a nice weekend!" Let us all exercise more, and eat less!!! Lets get those deficits up! We can do this!!!! ![]()
Hi all! Worked my butt off today... so busy at work! Two matted cockers took me literally hours to do, what a pain. I don't understand, why can't people just learn to brush their dogs?? I was pretty busy all day from 7:30am up until 5pm when we closed. I wonder how many calories I burned today... My hubby and I went out to dinner at Uno Chicago Grill, which I love. I was a good girl though, I got the Baked Stuffed Chicken (stuffed with cheese, broccoli, spinach, tomatoes) and for my sides I chose the steamed broccoli and the roasted seasonal vegetables - so yummy. It wasn't that many calories either, and after everything today I am only at 1291 for my total. I feel pretty good about that. :P
Hope everyone else is enjoying their weekend!
I like reading when people can go out to eat, choose the right foods and still enjoy their meal and stay within their calorie limits. Good job!!!
I'm still not eating at night.....big deal for me! I ate all good foods for the last 5 days. I gotta keep this up!!
Check in tomorrow! :)
Sorry I haven't been around too much. I've been working hard (being overworked?) and gaining weight despite everything I've been doing (700 - 100 deficit and burning lots and lots of Calories). Days I have a 500 or lower deficit, I end up gaining more weight, and I feel like I'm in an endless cycle of gain-gain. :-(
Lowest weight (in June!) - 162.4
Weight ranges this week - 164 - 168.
grrr
Hey - looks like you all have a great support system going here, mind if I step in?
I went to a few weddings this summer and after seeing the pictures of me I was so depressed, so here I am vowing to take diet and excerise seriously.
I'm 24 years old, 5'4'' 180 pounds and started my diet/excerise routine at the beginning of July.
Here goes nothing!
cobolander~ Welcome!!! This group is great! Feel free to ask any questions, we're all here to help each other out and motivate each other!
What is your goal weight?
146 today!! It felt good because both yesterday and today I wore shirts that used to be tight on me and I was always self-conscious to wear them, but no more!! :P
cobolander - Hello! I was asking myself the same question when I read your post.....your goal weight? How many calories are you eating/day?
Well, after eating all that "bad" stuff (strawberry shortcake,chips,...) I had gained a few pounds. Today I weighed in at my lowest weight (before going off the deep end). 177.6!!! Hope it stays gone. Hate it when it goes right back up for no apparent reason.
Haven't been to the gym in a few days bc my back has been hurting too much to go. :( Hopefully it'll be ok enough to go tomorrow.
What a crummy day its been outside! Raining off and on and it was humid earlier. That seems to be letting up some now. It's finally going down into the 70's tomorrow. Can't wait for that! I hate 90 degree days!
Have a nice night! :)
At this point, any weight loss is good to me!! As for an overall goal, I'd love to get down to the 150s.
At this point I am very out of shape (earlier this year I quit smoking, but still notice shortness of breath when I work out) so I haven't taken my excerise beyond walking and various work out videos. Yesterday I actually walked almost 4 miles without being completely winded. Hopefully I'll start jogging a mile or two in the near future.
I am trying to eat 1450 calories a day, which is proving so difficult. I am a snacker. A friend of mine on weight watchers told me that it OK to snack on fruits and veggies (she told me that a ton of different kinds of veggies are 0-1 point, whatever that means). Any thoughts on this? Is it okay to go over my calorie amount as long as I am snacking on fruits and veggies?
In other news... did a good workout and am hoping for a nice drop in weight. My workout was as follows today:
- 10 minutes on the treadmill @ 3.3 mph (just a warmup)
- 3 sets/12 rep Chest Press @ 40 lb.
- 3 sets/12 rep Seated Row @ 40 lb.
- 3 sets/12 rep Seated Leg Curl @ 50 lb.
- 3 sets/12 rep seated leg press @ 80 lb.
- 2 sets/12 rep "pull downs" (don't know the name) @ 30 lb.
- 10 minutes of stretching.
- 10 minutes of cooldown @ relaxed pace.
I had a good day today! I ate within my calorie limits, went to the gym and got in a good workout (7.5 miles on the bike and worked out on the machines), and stayed away from the cookies hubby says he bought "just for me".
cobolander - I was thinking 150ish for me also. 1450 is a good place to start. Stay in touch and keep us posted on your progress. I did WW for a little while, lost about 10 pounds and then stalled. So went back to calorie counting and have been losing since. I include fruit and veggie calories in my count. I think you have to include everything you eat. You could stop losing weight if you don't count them. Make sense?
Well, 'Nite! Check in tomorrow!
Hello everyone! Had a good day again today!!! I'm on a roll!!! Took the day off from the gym. Yesterday made my leg hurt pretty good today.
Went to the mall with my kids and bought me a strawberry smoothie. It was 90 calories of Mmmmm Mmmmmm Good!!!! :) while they ate salty pretzels with cheese!
The bad cookies are still int he kitchen! I was tempted to eat one but I know as soon as I do,I'll want another. And I just can't do that and have all my good efforts be washed down the drain. And besides, I'm so close to fitting my fat behind into a size 12!
Hope you all come back tomorrow! I'm lonely here by myself. :(
Will I lose weight if I eat the same food over and over?
You can lose weight despite eating the same food day-after-day as long as you eat fewer calories than you burn. In fact, eating the... Read more
