Sharky~ Congrats on your 167.8!

momof2~ I wish I could pull of one of your 1 lb/day losses right now, lol!  I'm 141 lbs right now... only 1 pound away from my goal!!!  Urrrgggh!!  It's so frustrating!

Hey everyone~ I feel like I don't want to interrupt the great system you've guys made, I hope it's alright :)
I'm ~185 and 5'4", I really just started but my goal weight is in the 120-130 area by next August. I plan on just going with the flow, whatever feels/looks right. I've been pretty overweight my whole life, but this is my heaviest and it just doesn;t feel good at all. I never really exercised, so it's a good motivator to get me into the mode of a healthier lifestyle. I plan on eating between 1000-1500 calories a day and doing HIIT combined with more moderate but lengthier exercise, like walking and swimming. Maybe some bike-riding too.

In the previous posts, you guys were talking about the wii fit. That sounds so cool! Is there anything you need (besides the wii and the game, of course :P) to use it? Like equipment? Or just an open space?

166.6- At last! My "curse" is over, and the water weight is GONE! YES!

My little brother happily informed me that he exercised for about an hour or so last night. He then had a grin and said, "I'm gonna get bigger muscles than you." And he eats very healthy now, too. He asks for fruits more often than a bowl of ice cream. I'm so proud of him.

Have a great eveningSmile

sharky - Isn't it cool when the family starts eating healthy with you? It's like its contagious! lol  And your curse was passed on to me! Thanks! lol

Good morning everyone!  I meant to post yesterday to update that I was 157.5 lb for two days in a row.  I'm happy with that.  I haven't really exercised much because of the tiresome plane ride I took (total plane time = 3 hours... total layover time = 4 hours).  And then yesterday I went shopping (yay, exercise and new clothes all in one!) and the Olive Garden's soup and salad special.  Bowl of soup = 1/2 The calories of their salad!  Woh... Oh well.  Healthy dinner that evening as well.

Nice to talk to everyone again.

Kiteofnight~  Welcome to the  180's group!!  As you can see, we've all pretty much started in the 180's, but continue to stick around here even though  a lot of us are not technically in them anymore.  :D  At one point in my life I was at about 200 lbs (my heaviest) and am now around 141 lbs or so.  My goal was 140, but I think I may go to 135 (I'm about 5'7").  Oh, and you had mentioned that you plan on eating between 1000-1500 calories/day... your body needs a minimum of 1200 calories/day just to function.  Plus, if you're planning on exercising you'll need to eat more and add that on.  Just think of it this way... your body runs on fuel (calories) and if you're running it and working it more, it needs more fuel/calories.  :D

I absolutely LOVE my Wii Fit and try to use it everyday if I can.  All you need is the Nintendo Wii and the Wii Fit game, which comes with the balance board.  I think the Wii Fit is around $89 or so, but IMO well worth it.  You may also want to get a yoga mat for the floor positions... I didn't want to spend more on the Wii Fit one, so I just got a cheap generic yoga mat at Target for around $12.

k9stylist: Thank you~ I actually am absolutely excited for getting a Wii, haha. Also, I'll definitely keep the minimum of 1200 calories in mind. I live in Florida, so it's really unbearably hot almost 24/7, so doing outdoor activities really, well, sucks. So I like to keep things indoors, if I can. I'm probably also going to get some videos, if anyone has any suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated :)

182.8 as of this evening.  No offense to you guys, but I'm hoping to be in the 170's club by the end of next week.  :)  About 4 years ago, I was at 199, and over the course of 6 months dropped to 172.  Kept it off for a year or so, then gained back up to mid 180's.  I've hovered there ever since.  Every once in awhile, I'll get the bug to try to lose weight again and always get stuck at 181 and give up.  :(  I will NOT get stuck at 181 this time.  Won't do it.  Can't do it.  Refuse to get stuck and refuse to give up.

I am 182 and ready to be at my healthy weight of 128....50 some pounds...wish me luck!

Hi everyone! Been gone awhile.. going out of town, chasing the kids around, keeping busy... Been doing ok with eating, but slacking on the exercise again. Trying to get it going again. I seem to have plateaued for now. I have been weighing pretty consistently between 165.8(my lowest) and around 169. Havent seen 170 for awhile now, so thats good. I'm hoping with upping my activity again I'll see a good drop soon. I am starting my exercise dvds again, I used the wii fit today (it said my last session was 18 days ago- o dear) and I am considering starting a running program. I have never been a runner, but I have been reading some other forums about the 'couch to 5k' program, and been thinking about trying it out. It starts out alternating between walking and running or jogging, and increases the running/jogging every week, so by the end of 9 weeks, you will run a 5k. I just wish I had a treadmill. I feel kind of emarrassed running around outside.

Sounds like all you are doing well. Congrats on all your recent successes. K9stylist, good for you- 141! thats fantastic!, and Leo, wow! out of the 160's now! That is wonderful too! Sharky, we are about the same range! Thats great your little bro wants to get fit too! And momof2, almost out of 170's! very close also.

Welcome new people! This is a great place for support. You can stay as long as you want and its nice losing with people who have all started from around the same point. Tell us your stats- age, height, location, etc... I am 34, married with 4 kids and 2 dogs, about 5'4", and I started out end of April at 186 ( I was probably closer to 200 over the winter, but didnt have a scale then) I live in Minnesota.

Kiteofnight, you will love the wii fit, it is fun and keeps track of your progress for you too, which is nice to go back and look at. As far as videos, I have gunnar petersons Core Secrets, which is a workout with an exercise ball (I like it). I also have the Firm Transfirmation series, which is about 4 or 5 dvds with workouts that combine aerobic moves with hand weights. ( this one I only do once in awhile, because they are hard to follow and I get frustrated-  they move from one move to another very quickly, and I am not really coordinated, so I have a hard time.) I also have the Firm dvd with resistance bands (this one isnt as difficult to follow) and I have Jillian Michaels 30 day shred (another that combines cardio and weights, and abs too)-- this one totally kicks my butt! It is very easy to follow the moves, but very intense workout. If I were to recommend one, I would say the jillian michaels one.  Good Luck, let us know what you choose.

ohtobethinagain, Good for you with your previous weight loss- you done it before, surely you can do it again.. You can stick around here if you want.. most of us are out of the 180's now too.

Esha-lynn, welcome and good luck! I am aiming for the 120's too. I put 123 for my goal weight, but we'll see. I wont be crushed if I dont reach it, all I really want is to be healthy and fit. I want some muscle and alot less flab!

Hopefully I can stay on task for awhile now.. we probably wont be leaving town as much now. Kids go back to school in about a month, and my YMCA will open right after that- I cant wait! It will be so nice to join a gym, and maybe get a trainer, take some classes. I am so looking forward to it!

Well, have a great weekend everyone!

Kiteofnight~ No problem.  :D  You'll love the Wii Fit, I know I do.  As far as video suggestions, well I don't really have any.  I'm not a very coordinated person, so I have a tough time doing most videos... I look ridiculous, lol.  The Wii Fit is actually something I can follow (except Basic Step - I suck!).  I live in Florida too, so I know how hot & yucky it can get outside.  ;)

Welcome ohtobethinagain and esha_lynn!  :D  This is a great group!  We've all started in the 180's, but most of us are still hanging around even though we've gotten past them.  Good luck!!  :)

Wendy~ Glad to see you back!  I was hoping we hadn't lost you!  I've heard of the 'couch to 5k' program, but I'm not much of a runner... I debated about trying it, but decided I'd rather not.  The most running I do is when I'm doing the Basic Run on the Wii Fit, lol.  I'm getting pretty good at it though.  :)

Leo~ Congrats on the 157.5!  I hate plane rides...  I'm so nervous the whole time.

I was so close to my goal on Tuesday (1lb) when I weighed myself, that I decided to go ahead and weigh myself again today... I was happy I did because I'm 139 today!!!!   Yay!!!!  I've passed my original goal of 140!  I'm soooo happy!  I'm down about 43lbs now and going to make a new goal of 135.  Today is also my 5-year wedding anniversary and we're going out to dinner tonight at the Melting Pot.  I've never been there, but everyone tells us that it is really really good.  I'm looking forward to it and to wearing my new tiny black dress I bought just for tonight.  I feel a little better about wearing it now that I know I've made my first goal.  :D

Thanks for all the recommendations/words of welcome. :)
I don't own a Wii as of now, but I do have a playstation, so I think I am also going to get DDR, just to be able to incorporate something active and fun that I can do whenever. I don't expect to lose any real weight with it or anything, but nonetheless.
As for videos, I think I'm going to get Turbo Jam, as I've heard really good things about it. Anyone here have any opinions on that?
I'd also like to get some yoga videos, and I have no idea where to go from that. Anyone here have any they like?

k9, thanks for the welcome back! oo, so jealous-- 139!!! I am so happy for you! Happy Anniversary, and have a fabulous time out in your tiny black dress, sounds great. Hope you have a very romantic evening :) Take some pics and put em up :)

kiteofnight, My kids do that DDR at school in gym class. I think they like it alright. I've never tried turbo jam, but from looking at the commercial anyway, I thought it looked too difficult for me. I am really quite uncoordinated and clumsy so I have a hard time learning moves unless they are simple and shown in example slowly before I try it. That is the problem I had with the Firm dvds- they just jump right on in it and fly from one move to the next without any demonstration. I feel like an idiot stumbling and staggering around the room while they look like a professional cheerleading squad! After many times I start to learn the routine.. but gets frustrating. I dont know if Turbo Jam is like that or not, but from what I saw in the commercial I thought maybe not... also, a little expensive for my liking as far as dvds go- I think when I was checking it was at least $60 or better.  I bought the Jillian Michaels 30 day shred on Amazon for less than $10. There are 3   20 minute workouts- level 1, 2 and 3.. and I am still on level 1. It is very easy to follow- pushups, jumping jacks, sit-ups, squats, lunges, and the like.. shows each exercise in example  and  I can follow it no problem, except that sometimes I feel like I might die before the set is over, and I sweat like a pig! As far as yoga, I have only done it with the wii fit. I 've never tried a yoga video. I plan on taking some yoga classes when our Y opens next month though, as well as some weights and cardio too!

Wendy~ Thanks!!  We had a good time!  It was yummy, but pretty expensive for what it was.  I put some pics of me in the dress in my gallery & a couple different pics too.  :)

k9, wow! look at you gorgeous! Love the dress, and your shoes too! I love the pictures together with your progression too.. You must be so proud! you really look awesome!!

oh, I just wanted to add, I decided to start the couch to 5k.. I did my first 'run' tonight.. mostly a brisk walk with short spurts of running.. and it wasnt nearly as bad as I thought it would be. My daughter even followed me along on her bike.

Thanks Wendy!  :)  Maybe I'll have to give that 'couch to 5k' thing a shot...  there's a website, right?

k9, I googled 'couch to 5k' after seeing it in the forums here and there are a few websites for it. It explains the program and gives helpful tips for starting out, etc. There are also links to download free podcasts that you can use while you run. I did that, and I must say, it was very helpful. The music helps you keep pace with the beat, and it changes for you from the walking parts to the running parts. And, they have a whole set of them to use for each week of the program, and for some of the weeks they even have 2 or 3 different selections.

Wendy - your kids do DDR in gym class? Wow, I wish I went to their school! :) But I know what you mean. I tried to follow some workout I saw on Fit TV today and found myself stumbling awkwardly through the steps. And you're right, it does seem expensive. I'm going to try to find it on ebay or something for cheaper however in the mean time, I will definitely check out those Jillian Michaels tapes. For now, I'm just aiming for the Wii Fit. It's just nice to be able to do something active on rainy days (such as this one D:). Anyway, good luck with your couch to 5k plan!

Welcome to the new people! I'm sure you'll love it here!

Went to see The Mummy last night! What a good movie with alot of action! Nice night out with hubby, kids didn't want to go! I couldn't believe it! lol

k9- You looked so nice in your dress, and I agree about the shoes!  What a big difference in your before and now picture! WOW!

I've been hovering around 175 lately. I was down to 173 and gained 2 bc of ttom. Now I just can't get rid of those couple pounds. I've been eating bad though. Chips, cookies, candy bars,....Need I say more?

But this is a new week and I'm buckling down now. I have to get below 170! I can and will do it!!! :)

My original goal date is coming up on Friday. To be 160 by 8-15 (hubbys b-day) and I'm not going to make it. :(  So sad.....
