Wendy~ I tried the 'couch to 5k' program for the first time today. Wow, it kicked my booty!!! I was drenched in sweat by the time I finished it, but I DID finish it. I'm not much of a runner, never was. I just decided to try it to challenge myself and see if I can do it. Plus, I figure it'd be really good exercise and it'll switch it up a bit. Was your fist time doing it difficult?
Momof2~ Thanks! Uggh, I hate ttotm... mine will be coming along soon. Don't worry too much about your goal date, just eat better and keep trucking along! You can do it!
Went to the beach again this morning... was very nice & relaxing. Then I came home and did the first part of the Couch to 5k program and some wii fit yoga poses, along with some jackknifes and the plank. :P
k9, it is hard for me too, but not impossible- before I started I thought I would be huffing the whole way through- i have never been a runner either, but I find with the alternating with walking I can catch my breath before the next run. . and I sweat alot too.... if you google 'couch 2 5k' and go to the one that is 'cool runnings' there are links to download podcasts that follow this program. I found the time goes much faster, and it is so much easier to just focus on the beat of the music and not have to watch a timer or stopwatch. The program says 3 times a week, but I am going to try to to everyday or at least every other. I took a couple days off from my dvds with the weights and the wii fit.. i got a little sore doing too much at once..
momof2, the movie sounds fun.. last one I saw was 'Kung Fu Panda' with my boys. it was cute.... ttom for me too.. ugh.. I wish it was over! Dont worry about hitting a date with your goal.. you'll get there! Think of how far you have come already and be proud of your success!
I try to focus on how much I've lost already but I can't help but think that I should be at 160 by Friday and I won't be. I thought it was a good goal date. Oh well.....I've been having trouble dealing with the new me lately. The attention from men (car beeps and waves and whistles....) is something I haven't had to deal with in a long time. It's weird now.
I posted about it and I'm getting alot of responses. I guess it's pretty common for us to feel like this after losing alot of weight. I'm thinking about going to see someone about it. I don't know what kind of dr to go see though. Maybe I'll go see my dr and he can refer me.
The movie was nice. My hubby has been taking me out like this more and more lately. It's nice to spend some time with him alone on a "date". :D
momof2~ You have lost over 60 lbs, you should be proud! That's a HUGE accomplishment! Have you measured yourself lately? Maybe you're losing inches rather than lbs right now. I know it can be creepy when men beep and whistle (and obnoxious), but it's their creepy form of a compliment, I guess. Just ignore it. It's kinda backwards for me... I got a lot more beeps and waves when I was a little bit heavier and now it's rare for them to do it.... maybe they think I look like a boy (I lost a lot of my chest & butt), lol! :D
K9 - I measure once a month on the 28th. Last month I only lost a total of 3 inches. :( Once in a while that happens. Maybe this month will be a big number. And you do NOT look like a boy!!! lol You look great woman! :)
I'm up again today. I hope this stops again soon! I did this before where I kept gaining then I lost like a pound a day for like 2 weeks and now I'm gaining it all back. This is nuts! lol I'm not getting upset over it. I'll lose the weight when it comes off, and until then I'll just keep doing what I'm doing. :)
Took my 15 yr old son school shopping today. He is so much fun to be with! I loved it! :D He was so happy to have all new clothes. He even put on a new outfit when he got home and went downtown to show it off! lol He was all smiles when he left out. Makes me feel good! :)
Momof2~ You make me smile! :) I think I'm just sensitive now because I lost a lot of my chest and my butt! I'm not as curvy as I used to be, but much more fit now. 'Only lost a total of 3 inches' - ONLY!?? That sounds pretty darn good to me! Three inches is quite a bit, way to go! I'm going to weigh in tomorrow morning... not looking forward to it too much because I'm anticipating that I'm going to be up a little. My totm is due soon and I'm sure I'm starting to retain water... uggh. That's so cute you took your son shopping... I would have thought he'd be getting into that age where he doesn't want to do anything with his parents, lol. I know when I was that age I didn't want to do anything with them. It's good that you're spending time together and he was excited with what he got, that's so cute. :D
Wendy~ Did the Couch to 5k again tonight for the second time (week 1)... it seemed a little bit easier this time. I think I pushed myself way too hard the first time and was running at to high of a speed. I notched it down one tonight, and it was a little bit better. No sense in killing myself right away, lol. Also did about and hour and 20 minutes of Wii Fit. :D
It's hard to get use to our new bodies, isn't it? I say ONLY 3 inches because I'm use to losing much more in a month.
I make sure I do things with my kids. Sometimes they get busy with friends and my daughter is 21 and goes to school and works so it's tough to spend time alone with her. But my son knows I like to spend time with him. It's important. We talk alot too. My hubby and I have always done things with them.
I would love to able to exercise like you ladies do. Makes me mad that I can't! Oh well.....I do what I can. :(
momof2~ It's so good that you make an effort to spend time alone with your kids and that you actually talk to them. :D
I'm weighing in today at 139.8... up ".8" from Friday. I had a feeling I was going to be up a bit... I know the good 'ol totm is coming near! Everyone take cover!!! :D
Weighed in at the lowest I've been all week (Since Sunday) at 174.4! YAY!!! I was way up, I think bc of the chinese and junk I ate afterwards. But good to see the low number again. Now I'm really thinking I can see 169 soon! I CAN do this!!! lol :D

I think I wore myself down and caught something... I feel really sick today. I had a hard time getting out of bed this morning because my stomach felt sick. I'm having a lot of flu-like symptoms.... and the chills - I hate having the chills. I stood in the shower under the hot water forever because it felt so good. Luckily it was slow at work and I only had to do two dogs, so now I can sleep and rest up.

momof2, congrats on 174.4! Thats cute about your son.. my kids always like getting the new clothes and things too. We did the school supplies today, but will probably wait til next week or the week after for the clothes.. just wish it didnt cost so dang much! Sure adds up fast, especially when there are 4 of them to shop for!
k9, thats great about the 5k thing.. I tried week 2 last night, and it wasnt too bad.. there are fewer runs, but they last a little longer. I managed alright though. Sorry to hear you arent feeling well.. Hope you feel better soon.. it sucks being sick! Get some rest.. maybe some tylenol or something would help?
k9 - sorry your aren't feeling well. Hope you are feeling better by the time you read this. Maybe you need some rest and your body is letting you know to slow down.
Today was a good day! Didn't eat badly and I walked. Couldn't get any further than a mile, but atleast I walked. This darn leg just won't let up. It feels fine until I get to walking, then it hurts more and more the farther I walk.
wendy - Couldn't imagine buying for 4! I'm not done yet! Still need to get shoes, and he wants another pair of Dickies. And I'll get some more shirts. I'm glad I don't have to buy for 2 of them now. It is so expensive!
I am feeling better so far today... I'm getting ready to take my dog back to the specialist (where she had her knee surgery) because she's due for her 4 week check-up. They're going to sedate her and x-ray her leg to make sure all the screws and the bones are sitting correctly in place before the bone actually fuses back together completely. Hopefully everything will go well.
Wendy~ Wow, you're on week 2 already! Way to go! I'm nervous to get into week 2... I've still got one more time of week 1 left though.
Momof2~ Congrats on walking the mile! At least you do what you can, so you should feel good about that. :D
Hi everyone! I weighed at 165.2 this morning! My lowest yet! my ttom is winding down, and with the running and everything, I am hoping it will continue going down now..
I found a site that you can map your running route to find out how far you went.. mapmyroute.com.. I went 3.32 miles last night! I did the week 2 with podrunner, and then ran through 3 songs and walked through 2 songs, and it took me about an hour. I figured I ran for a total of 20 minutes, and walked a total of 40 minutes, and since I move faster when I run, I figure I must have run at least a mile and a half.. I find my endurance is building a little- slowly, but I can tell a difference.. But, I am kind of sore today- my hips and shins are bothering me a bit.. I might do my run using my gazelle tonight if I am still feeling sore- running can be real hard on the joints and shins..
k9, glad to hear you are feeling better! Wow, your poor baby! How did she end up injuring her leg in the first place? I hope the leg will heal well.. I dont think you should have any problem with week 2.. You run 90 seconds instead of 60 seconds at a time, and then walk 2 minutes instead of 90 seconds at a time.. so actually, you walk longer too.. and there are 6 runs intead of 8! So actually, it almost seems a little easier than week 1.
momof2, good for you, eating well and your walk! hope your leg feels better soon.. it really sucks when you cant do what you want to do.. Maybe you could use an elliptical or something at the gym? Supposed to be low impact on the joints.. And you said it sister-- it is so expensive! Just the school supplies yesterday were about $120! I try to go to second-hand stores too, especially for my youngest, to save some money on the clothes- like 'Once upon a Child'.. I dont know if those stores are everywhere, but it is like a big garage sale- they buy peoples clothes and kid items, weeding out the ones with stains, holes, damage, etc,, and then sell in the store. I bring our old stuff there too sometimes, but didnt this spring, because I had my own garage sale. My youngest dont really seem to mind where I get their clothes, but my oldest boy and my daughter really want to go get brand new, and it adds up.
Hello! My dog's x-rays went well... it all looks like it's healing properly. She's really out of it right now though, poor thing.
Wendy~ We think my dog actually hurt her knee chasing after a squirrel in the back yard or playing frizbee. It doesn't sound like week 2 of the Couch to 5k will be that bad. You're turning into quite the runner! Congrats on the new low of 165.2!!

k9, thanks! Glad to hear your dogs leg is healing alright.. poor girl! I did 2 exercise dvds this morning and then an hour on the wii fit- yoga and strength. I am still kind of sore, so I'm thinking I may need to do my run on the gazelle tonight.. I thought I would really dislike running out on the street, feel embarrassed like everyone is watching- but I found that isnt the case at all.. I really have come to look forward to being outside and getting the fresh air on my run, so i really hope this pain doesnt keep me in too long.
ohtobethinagain.. sucks when the scale dont move., I know it.. but at least not going up! Have you tried switching up your exercise or zig-zagging your calories (eating more calories some days and less some days)?
I'll join this group. Just broke the 180 mark last week....yippee! Down to 178 and counting. Glad to join ya! My daughter moved out last year in January at the age of 17 and depression set it. I managed to get up to 184 and I am sick of myself. I was a 12 and I refuse to buy a whole new wardrobe. Anyway, thanks for starting this group.

I haven't been on for a while - and am sorry to say I still def belong in the '180s' group. Have been hovering around 182 now for weeks but have just kick started the gym again and trying a new healthier eating plan so am praying for some good results.

164.2 this morning! down a whole pound, ttom over, yay!
I was stubborn and decided to just do my run outside last night.. just had to get out, kids were driving me nuts! It wasnt too bad though.. I did the same route as last night with the extra loop for a total of 3.32 miles again. I felt it in the shins and hips and a little in the knees too when I got back, but did some extra stretching and took some ibuprofen before bed and feel ok this morning. I take all the kids to the dentist today, so that should be a load of fun ;) I can catch up on all the latest magazines anyway..
Welcome iamvictorious! Sorry to hear about your depression, hope you are doing all right, try not to be so hard on yourself! .. wow, daughter left at 17! Is she doing all right? so young..Congrats on your recent loss! So what are your stats (age, height, goals, etc) I am 34, married with 4 kids, live in Minnesota, 5'4" and started out at 186 at the end of April when I joined CC, but was probably closer to 200 over the winter, but didnt have a scale then. I put my goal weight as 123, but we'll see- I am not really so concerned about the #, just want to be healthy and fit. Anyway, stick around here as long as you like!
Welcome back newlook! ~thanks! I have been on and off a bit this summer too- with all going out of town and being busy with the kids, but just pick yourself up again and get back with it. You will get there, just stick with it... thats great starting the gym again and getting a new healthier eating plan, I'm sure you will start seeing results soon with that!
