180's club
The good news is that I weighed in on Wednesday at 156.6, which is a new low.
I'll try to check in more often, if I can get ahold of Internet at my bf's place. At home I have internet, but not at the bf's.
Wasn't here yesterday....Steeler game was on! AND we won!!! YAY!!!
Then my stomache was hurting again. I don't know what is going on with that. Hubby and my son has it too. It seems like after I eat, my stomache hurts. Today is alittle better. Went yesterday and bought Tums and Phazyme (some expensive little pills!) and I'm hoping that is what is helping now.
My HRM is a cheap one ($40) from WalMart. But it works good! I love it! And now I know I'm not eating enough when I walk! That's why I wasn't losing. And when I ate icecream, I'd lose weight. Well, I needed those calories! lol
But my HRM is just a simple one and that's what I wanted. I've heard the polar ones are good too. But I found this one and we'll see if it's accurate. I'm going to up my calories definitely on walking days! lol I burned 800 calories on my walk today and that's way more than google pedometer was telling me.
I would recommend a HRM for anyone who exercises to get an accurate burn number. They are un to play with too! lol :)
Nicci - I can't believe someone had the nerve to ask you that!!! What did ou say to him?
wendy - I sure hope you find out what the heck is wrong! reflux can give you those symptoms, asked my mom (the nurse) if it could. I hope that's all it is.
When he asked me he said 'When are you expecting' and I said I'm not and he said oh.... well have you had a kid recently and I said yes 3 years ago. And then he very politely went into asking me if it was a boy or girl and what was his name. Almost had a smooth recovery lol.
Can you girls go to www.amazon.co.uk and check out the HR monitors on there - tell me whats a good one? I have NO clue which kind to get.
Well, he at least tried to smooth it over! lol
I went and looked at the hrm's and I would go with the Polar F11 in Pink! I've heard that Polar ones are good. I bought one from WalMart and it works great. I paid $40 for it, so I'm pleased. I'm cheap and I won't buy expensive because sometimes expensive isn't always better. Ya know? But....if they had Polar, I'd probably buy it. :)
It's gonna be a rainy day today. So looks like I'll be walking with my umbrella!
Have a good Tuesday everyone!
For these HRM's - do you have to wear a chest strap for all of them?
Hi all,
Hope your tuesdays are ok! UK is still very soggy :-( Am sure that the rubbish weather is killing my motivation for the gym - haven't made it once this week. Not good!
I hope you're all doing better than me!
nicci - no. These are watches. I have just a watch and it works just fine. some people say the strap kind is best. I don't know. I couldn't wear a strap around my chest while exercising! lol
It's still raining....looks like I'll definitely be using my umbrella later! lol
OH - ok.
I read somewhere that the chest around your transmits to your watch so wasn't going to get one if I had to wear that. Do you wear it all day like for 24 hours to measure your calories burnt? I'm very interested in this.
I actually went to the gym today - shock... gasp.....!!! It was SO good.
Hi all!
Wendy~ I'm so sorry to hear about your ER trip!! I hope you're feeling better. Did you give any thought to the panic attack thing? It sounds kind of similar... Also, congrats on the new low weight! :)
Leo~ It sounds like you've fallen (or are falling) off the wagon *tsk, tsk* Do we need to strap you back on? At least you've gotten a new low, congrats!
momof2~ I'm glad you're enjoying your new HRM! Wow, $40 isn't a bad price... mine was kinda pricey, but it has tons of toys on it. I can't wait to get it!
niccimax~ I would recommend getting the Polar F11, that's the one my husband bought me for my b-day. We got it on ebay. The pink one's kinda cute, but I like the Blue Glow, so that's the one I'm getting. :) Oh, and yes, it does have a chest strap that transmits to the watch. I don't think you have to wear it all day, but I'm sure it's much more accurate if you wear it while exercising. It also counts calories burned and you can track your goals & progress.
newlook~ I hate it when it rains all day, blah. It's supposed to start raining here tomorrow, because of the hurricane passing by.
New low weight for me today... 136!!! Only one pound away now! I'm so excited that I actually lost 2 lbs this week (it's been awhile). I've increased my calories and I guess that's made a difference. :D
See, k9! I told you to eat more!!! I'm so happy for you!!!! YAY!!!! Doing the happy dance for ya!!! :D LOL I just wanted a simple HRM, nothing too complicated for me!! LOL I just want to know how many calories I burn. I'm soooo glad I got it. It's great!
nicci - I just wear it while I exercise. And I wear it when I clean the house and do the laundry. I tend to do those 2 things at the same time. You'd be surprised how many calories you burn cleaning your house! lol Good job on going to the gym! It does feel good to get a good work out. I'll be going back when the weather gets cold and it snows since I can't walk in the snow. I can't take the risk of falling with my back. It would be interesting just to wear it for 24 hours on a "normal" day to see if cc is right.
Wendy - how are you feeling? Hope you are doing better.
It rained here off and on (more on) until about 5:00. Went for a walk after it stopped. just burned 240 today. I didn't walk but 1.5 miles today. Tomorrow I'll walk further and do some hills.
I'm gonna hate to start going to the gym and not walk outside when the weather gets bad. I can't walk on a treadmill for very long, but I can ride that bike forever! lol There's something about the treadmill that makes my back and leg hurt more than just walking outside. I guess it's the walking in place on a flat surface.
I ate fried pork chops (the thin boneless ones) today. First time in a long time I've eaten something fried. It triggered more eating though. Ate chips and dip, and m&m's and just feeling crappy now.
Tomorrow will be my 2 weeks of no weighing. I did weigh myself a couple times though. I weighed 175.4 on Aug 27th so I'll see what I weigh tomorrow. Can't believe I ate so much today knowing I weigh in tomorrow! :( We'll seeeee....
Dangit all - I work my butt off t the gym.... eat right..... and I gain 0.5lbs! I HATE THAT! Makes me not want to workout anymore.
I seem to be stuck in the mid 60's. I really want to see the 50's :(
momof2~ Thanks!! :) Sounds like you're doing a great job of keeping up with your walking! Ugggh, snow... haven't seen that in quite a while! It's usually too hot around here to work out outside. I usually use the treadmill and just walk the dog outside... the humidity is the worst part. Maybe in the winter time I'll try running outside since it'll be nicer here then. Don't worry about the fried pork chops and m&m's. Everyone needs a little treat once in awhile. Good luck with the weigh in! :)
niccimax~ Good job at doing the gym! Don't worry about the .5 lbs, I'm sure it's water weight. Your muslces are probably swollen from working out and need the extra water to help heal them. I'm sure it'll be gone soon. :D
Did some weight lifting last night and am a little sore today. Was planning on doing a 25 minute run this am, but I think I'll wait until a little later today. Give the muscles a bit longer to rest and a chance for me to wake up. Gotta get ready to take the dog to the specialist again for her 8-week x-ray on her knee. They've got to sedate her, so it'll take a couple hours and then I get to go to the dentist again, woohoo! :(
Alright, time to fess up! I gained 2 lbs in just a few days! Maybe bc I upped my calories so much all at once. I'm gonna wait to see if it settles. If I gain a couple more, I'll decrease my calories until I start losing again. I still have a plan! I'm not panicing, since I did eat those chips (lots of salt) last night!
Time to buckle down and get serious again. I really want out of the 170's once and for all. I'm just too relaxed about this lately even though I'm still walking.
NICCI - don't worry about the .5 lbs! I agree with k9, muscles retain water to heal themselves. Take it easy!
momof2~ Hopefully the 2 lbs is just water because of all the salt. Now that you have your HRM, you should have more of an accurate idea of what you burn and need to eat. I'm sure you'll get it all straightened out. :)
Back from my appointments. Went shopping while my dog was at the doctor. Tried on some new jeans and discovered I dropped a size, down to a 4!! Yay! I ended up buying some "skinny jeans" and a really cute long sweater dress/shirt type thing. :D
I know I overate yesterday by eating the chips and stuff. I went for a walk today and hubby went with me. I burned 700 calories! :) I stayed within my calories today too! YAY!!! I'm gonna do it tomorrow too! And no snacking tonight either! I have to be strong and just say NO!!!!
I'm striving for 2 lbs gone this week. It's been a long time since I've dropped 2 lbs in a week. I have to get to losing again. :)
Hey everyone! I'm sorry I haven't been on here. I just had a bad couple of days. I was not watching what I was eating and eating too much. I also wasn't exercising and I just fell apart, which has bumped me up to 188 pounds. I'm not discouraged though. Today I got back on track exercised and ate a healthy breakfast and lunch. I know I can keep this up because I feel so much better when I do.
Well I guess it was water or TTOM or something - but I'm down to 163! New low for me. Have another session with my personal trainer today.
~momof2~ thats GREAT that you burnt 700 walking! Holy cow... stick with that!
~melody~hope your days are getting better - keep checking in on here I find this site a great motivation to keep going.
~k9~ size 4!!!!! Look at you!
~wendy~ how are you feeling??
Hi all,
Hope you're all having a good Thursday.
Have been off the gym for a week (laziness more than anything) and have put on 3lbs :-( :-( How come it goes back on so much quicker than it comes off. GRRRR!!!
Melody_anne - Well done you for getting back to the exercise - am def getting back to the gym tomorrow.
confession time......again! I did so well yesterday and did the walking and had a good burn and what did I do???? ATE!!!! I ended up with only a 300 deficit at the end of the day. I really messed it up!!!! I'm back to the late night eating AGAIN!!! I did so well for a long time, then BLAM! I'm off the wagon and eating at night after hubby goes to work. Honestly, I think I feel anxiety when he goes to work at night and I eat. What can I do???? I don't do this when he's home at night. Geeze! :(
momof2~ No more late night snacking! If you seriously feel the need, why not try popping a bag of 100 calorie popcorn, put it in a bowl and sit down and snack on that for a while? Otherwise, maybe a small bag of some baby carrots? Just a thought.
melody~ Glad to see you back! At least you're back on track now and are exercising and eating healthy. :)
nicci~ See, I knew it was water weight! Yay! Congrats!
newlook~ Don't give up on the exercising, you can do it. Just think about how good you feel after it's done! I always dread doing it, but feel GREAT when I'm done. :)
I got my HRM yesterday! I tried it out on my treadmill Couch to 5k workout last night. I knew I had to run 25 minutes straight and was thinking I'd burn a ton of calories, so I had to give the HRM a try then. This is kind of interesting...
Total Distance: 4.5 miles, Time: 1 hour & 4 minutes
Calories Burned: 589 (treadmill), 376 (HRM)
As you can see, there is quite a difference between the two! I was amazed! I'd have to say that the HRM would be much more accurate because it was measuring my heart rate and I was wearing the chest strap with the transmitter. I was a little disappointed to see that I only burned 376 calories for an hour on the treadmill, 25 minutes of which were spent running continuously. Well, at least I have an accurate idea of what I am burning now.
Is jump roping as good an exercise as running?
In terms of calorie burning, moderate jumping is about equal to running a 10-minute mile, although calorie burning is always a function of time... Read more
