Bummer...can't work out like usual this morning...have to drop off a car at the shop with my husband and then have committments at my son's schools...
I hate getting off my routine...glad we have an elliptical...going to have to get on it tonight after the boy's hockey.
Goal today is to stick with 1200-1300 calories in case the workout doesn't happen....
Of course I woke up starving...going for the protien bar or the oatmeal...can't decide.
Good morning and have a great day all!

messam- hmmm well there are a few ways you can improve your food intake and still make it easy. A lot of the time when you consume too little food your body goes into starvation mode. At this point your metabolism slows almost to a halt and your body holds on to every calorie in preperation for starvation. In the morning with your coffee (if you use cream/sugar you should have a fat free creamer and use limmited amounts of sugar) have a low fat nutrigrain bar or cereal bar. You need some food to get your metabolism up and going and you can eat them in just a few bites. For lunch 1 serving of soup is pretty easy to microwave and it helps get some much needed veggies and protein into you. ( I like campbells selects), Yogurt, healthy choice ham or turkey on whole grain bread with mustard, cottage cheese doubles (all of these you can open and eat or prepare in 3 minutes or less!). At snack time measure out the milk and only drink 1 serving and swap the ghram cracker for a piece of fruit. At dinner spagetti isin't too bad if it's a red sauce w/ no meat or chicken, lean ground turkey. LeanCusine, SmartOnes and Healthy Choice all make frozen meals you can microwave, or a good standby is marinated chicken cooked on a george forman grill (cooks in like 5 minutes) some frozen veggis (heated) and a side of rice (lipton has great sides and I use 1/2 the amount of butter and replace the full fat butter with country crock). I admire your choice of drinks, because I can't seem to give up real soda or juice :)
thanks im goin to try that
I didn't see that there was a 150 club. I started a 150's going to the 140 post. Sorry about that. Never started a post before. So I tell ya all what I said on that one. I am 151. I stopped loosing the weight a year ago after loosing 20 pounds from using this wonderful site. Now I really want to start loosing again. Hi everyone.
ltlmsmfft- how about coffee and a granola bar? do u think that is a good combination? i have given up the soda and juice i cant give up the coffee. as for lunch are u sayin soup and a yogurt or a sandwich? or are u sayin all 3? i cant get by with the microwave dinners because i have a 3 year old that isnt tryin to hear that . i tried it about a month ago and she said to me "mommy why dont u cook anymore? i dont want this... so that went out the window. but i think my dinners are healthy because i use olive oil and country crock instead of butter.
hi all i was 148 when i started on 7th jan and have already lost 3 pounds in 11 days im at 145 now i want to get to 120 for my freinds wedding. my tot cal intake is 1300 give or take a little good luck to you all we can do this.
I just joined CC and love it. I enjoy entering my foods and am trying to get a better "grade" every day. I weigh 154 and have been doing this for a week, without any loss. I am not dissapointed but being a previous atkins girl, I am not used to the "slower" loss. I am also a teacher and on my feet all day, plus just joined the gym. I wan to get down into the 40's by February. Any suggestions for some great start up meals. My max intake is 1300, but I have been finding myself going over, hence the nonexistent weight loss. Good luck everyone. We can do it!
messam- I am a coffee junkie too--it is the one vice I allow myself! Home cooking is always better than frozen--the key is portion control. Like Itimsmfft said, start to substitute in fresh fruits and veggies--they make them all precut and washed so they are easy to snack on. Try not to fall below 1200 cals/day because its not healthy in the long run. Take your 3yr old out for daily walks with you--you will both have a great time!
Goals for today!
1. More water!!!
2. Less coffee (yeah, right! :)
3. Yoga tonight for my exercise
best of luck everyone!

messam- granola bars are great for breakfast, just read the label before you buy them as some are kinda high in fat depending on what's in them. for lunch i usually have a cup of soup and one other item such as cottage cheese, 1/2 sand, yogurt, bread with apple butter. it's really up to you. everything is about portion control. your daughter sounds sooo cute. my son gets all upset when dinner is a home cooked meal ( a rare commodity in my house). he looks at it like that's not a chicken nugget....
well i did a full hour spin class last night! i haven't lost anymore weight today, but judging by my sore muscles i'm pretty sure i've lost a little fat and gained a little muscle :) my goal for today is no alchohol! i have my first recovery meeting at church tonight so wish me luck. i'm really serious about this.

ltlmsmfft- good luck. Like weight loss its 1 day at a time. i tried to give my daughter some chef boyardee on sunday because i wasnt really all that hungry she looked at me like i was crazy...
drjizzo- coffee is a staple in my life. cant live without it. im going to try the fruit and veggies. I run everyday because walking just doesnt make sense to me and its great conditioning since im in the military and we have tests to pass. my daughter comes with me everywhere because while i was deployed my mom took 200 dollars of my $ and bought a running stroller... which i couldnt believe she did.. but back to the point..
Well yesterday i wanted to take a rest do a lil core excercises. So i did my 30 min exercise and then sat on the couch. So im sitting there for about 5 and im feeling like something is missing. i decided that that was just not enough exercise for me. so i ran 1 1/2 mile and then i was able to settle becuase my body felt like i had really worked out...
good news though i was going up and down in weight.. i would wake up 153 and go to bed 155. i weighed myself before i went to be and i was 153. and this morning i was 152 so 2 pounds down!!
goals for today
1. eat more. (doing great: had cereal and COFFEE :0) )
2. run 2 miles in 17 minutes
3. lift weights
4. be happy with the inches lost in my waist
5. stop thinking about food..

So I'm new to this whole message board thing, but am getting frustrated with my weight loss! I am at 155 and am 5'9" tall. I have been tracking what I eat for a few weeks now (lost 2 pounds since then). I have 3 kids and just want to get back to my pre baby weight... or at least close! Pre baby weight was 135, but I was much younger. I'll settle for 140-145. Strange how all that weight shifts, though!
I eat between 1300 and 1500 calories a day and go to the gym before work and burn about 500-600 calories there.
My husband is on board too now and we are trying to change our eating habits to a healthier lifestyle. It's good to have another place to get support.

I eat 6 "minni meals" a day. here is an example for one day, which was yesterday... In the morning I had two slices of whole wheat toast with jam (no butter), and a class of milk, some mornings i eat grapefruit and 2 egg whites (heated up in the micro), then for the 2nd, I had an apple and half of a turkey sandwich with spicy mustard, then the 3rd I had a half a can of tomato soup, and a little salad with a tiny bit of sprinkle cheese, and bacon bits with low cal dressing, then 4th some fresh veggies and low cal dip, and apple sauce (with no sugar), 5th I had half a grilled chicken breast with steamed brocolli and a glass of milk, and 6th I had yogurt with frozen strawberries, and an orange.. It will vary though.. I try to get all my important food groups in.
Hey messam!
I have a cure for the back and forth you notice with your scale--your weight is different depending on what time of day you weigh yourself! Choose a time (am or pm) and do it at the same time--I always weigh less in the am, so that is when I hop on the scale! Also its fun if you wait a week in between so you see some progress--women just naturally have day to day fluctuations because of those darned hormones!
Have fun! Dee
Have fun! Dee
I too weigh myself everyday in the am after using the ladies room. it makes me feel good to know i'm getting the lowest number possible! I might try to wait one week for fun just to see the bigger drop in numbers.
Wow, this forum helped me yesterday. I love reading what everyone is writing. That way I don't feel so alone with this struggle. I stayed within my calorie limits and went to the gym yesterday. I woke up this morning and have finally shed some weight! I went from 154 down to 152. It has taken two weeks, but I am so glad that I did not give up because I wasn't seeing immediate results.
Goals for today: Stay within 1300 calories. Drink a lot of water. Get to the gym. Finish my report cards :).

Sorry...I have been out of it...So busy, and so happy I can finally get back to post.
Actually had a bit of a bad week last week, gaining back 2 I thought I lost. I found the bright side and got rid of the 2 again. Trying not to obsess about the number, after all, I did lose 4 lbs. in 2 weeks so it averaged out well.
Weighed myself yesterday and my goal is to not get on the scale until Tuesday...it's so hard, but I know I get number obsessed.
Going to my Jazzercise workout today. I was so proud yesterday, I actually got up for the 6am class because I knew that I would miss my regular 8:30 class. I would like to start going to that class more often, though by 10am I was ready to hit the wall....I don't do caffeine in my coffee, so by 11am I was drinking tea.
1. No scale
2. More water
3. below 1400 calories
4. No eating after 8:30 pm
there is some wine in my future tonight though and I really will try to keep it to one glass...going to a friend's house...I'm driving so I can keep it to one...for every wine...one or two waters...

Friday! I love it! I have behaving myself pretty good so I am going out for the best wings in the city of Buffalo! I'll eat good all day so when I get to the wings I wont blow a gasket on the calories!
argh! I haven't dropped any weight since Wed. and I'm a little frutstrated. For the ladies it's that "time of the month" and I never seem to loose weight right then for a few days. I think I must be retaining water and bloated but, I never feel bloated like the girls on the commercials. Anyone else out there deal w/ this too? Oh well I guess I've recognized this pattern over the years and must accept it. The other bad thing is I just started going to a meeting on Thurs. nights and didin't realize it would last so long. It went from 7pm-9:30 and I made the mistake of not eating dinner before I went. When I got home I was really hungry (and not a big fan of skipping meals) so I had a healthy choice pizza. I think eating so late contributed to the temporary plateu.
I have been doing ok this week, easing back into a regular schedule and eating pattern after vacation. My weight is actually falling - today the scale said 151 (but the other two times it said 152.4 so I will go with that as the official weight!). I have been going up and down from 153 - 155 for months so this is all new to me.
I worked out yesterday with 40 minutes cardio and 20 minutes free weights and some stretching. I have been tracking all my food/calories and even measured stuff yesterday (I probably eat more than I think since I rarely measure anymore - I have to start doing that again).
Goals for today - drink more water, stay within 1300 cals, track my steps with my pedometer, go to Pilates class (60 min), eat more mini-meals during the day so I am not starving by 5pm, no snacking tonight after 7pm. (I am a BAD late night snacker!)

I'm now in the 150's group, at 159lbs. I started 11 days ago at 165 and have lost six pounds, just counting calories and I went to Jazzercize twice. It feels good to be losing weight and eating healthier.
ltlms..... The same thing happens to me. I always lose nothing or even gain about that time. The best part about it is that I'll then lose even more the following week getting rid of the bloating.
The hardest thing for me is that a week before, I get the munchies! I still plateau or gain even if I curb my cravings. Next week will be better!
