Bummer...can't work out like usual this morning...have to drop off a car at the shop with my husband and then have committments at my son's schools...
I hate getting off my routine...glad we have an elliptical...going to have to get on it tonight after the boy's hockey.
Goal today is to stick with 1200-1300 calories in case the workout doesn't happen....
Of course I woke up starving...going for the protien bar or the oatmeal...can't decide.

i also dont know what a person your age should be getting in caloric intake each day...
hey ltlmsmfft - thanks to your prompting, i did my measurements for that home body fat test tonight :) i was pleased with the results :) according to it and your little acceptable body fat percentages for women scale i am now in the acceptable range :) yay :)

Hey Kyran, you sound almost exactly like me! I want to get down 20-25 pounds too, and I'm 155 right now...used to be 145 most of my life and I'm 18. I'm trying to do it by June...and I'm trying 1200-1400 to try and get there quicker. Exercise is REALLY important though, even if you're bad at it. There will be days where you have too many calories and if you exercise frequently your metabolism will speed up. Be sure to do it 4-5 days a week...for 20 minutes but then work up to 30, which really ISN'T that much time out of your life.
Unicat...do you need to work out an hour a day? I'm doing 30 minutes and run 2 miles on 6.0-6.5....it burns about 200 or so calories. Is it better to go for a whole hour because running that long is wayyy too intense for me.

Hi everyone. I'm 159lbs. I fluctuate between 156 - 160. I'm 5'11. I've been running since about August when I weighted about 166lbs. I've gained about 3 pounds in the last month. I hope its all muscle. Well anyways. HI.
Good morning all...got in the 6am jazzercise, so that was good. Scale went up a pound so that was not so good...trend is still okay though...trying not to get caught up in the number, as usual. Still "obese" according to my scale...hahaha.

How do you find out your body fat percentage if it's not on your scale? Is there an easy way to do this at home?
unicat & poohct- I'm sorry.... I wasn't trying to make anybody feel bad about their body fat % I kinda thought it would help to focus on a smaller number than the actual pounds. I think we are all doing great and staying motivated!

I am 152.0 again this morning. Yesterday I drank 2L of water and did 40 minutes of hard cardio. I didnt do weights becuase I had to run out afterwards and was running short on time.
I was going to give myself a day off from working out tonight, but since the scale is being mean to me I am going to get in 40 minutes of cardio and weights tonight after work.
I need to stop snacking at night - that is my only real downfall these days. Its like I just cannot stop, I ead 2 cookies, then some peanuts (I dont even like peanuts), then another cookie, then some mini rice cakes... sigh. I am my own undoing...
I agree exercise is super important if you are trying to loose weight. I think you can loose just by cutting calories but when you exercise you can loose more and keep it off. Plus you are doing something good for your body and improving your fitness and health. Its easy to sneak in a few minutes here and there if you can't dedicate a chunk of time all at once. Take the stairs to your office or classroom, go for a walk on your lunch break or after dinner... Ask a friend to join you and gab the whole way, and the time will pass quickly. Once you start sneaking in bits here and there, it is much easier to set aside 30 minutes a day to do some cardio. Its worth it!!!! I have arm and leg muscles now and a toned stomach, even cute little ankles (Have always had chubby ankles...)

Welcome kyran and bryce! Glad to have you aboard! Keep in mind that slow steady weight loss is the healthiest way to do it--you are more likely to keep it off. Exercise will speed up the process, and everyone is right--you will start to feel better--toned, better moods, etc.

I have a 30 minute Pilates DVD and it's a rather mild workout, but if it's 5 days a week it should work, right? I also have some barbells and I found exercises here: http://exercise.about.com/cs/exerciseworkouts /l/bltotalworkout.htm
At this point, I am really looking forward to warmer weather , because I plan on doing some biking (hopefully every day). I also LOVE rollerblading, but I can't do it for too long (flat feet).

its fairly simple.. all you need is a fabric tape measure... your pc, and your body :) you have to take your hip, calf, thigh, and wrist measurements for it... and it calculates it all.. i cant say how true the answer is, but if you look at my journal page entitled home bady fat test you will see my results..

well dee just push past that tiredness :) how many extra minutes are you going to do?? are you striving for that 50+ minutes of cardio?? I just did my ddr, and because i am down to 154.5 today, it took me 55 minutes instead of 50 to burn my 300 calories on it, ugh.. lol.. and i am sweating too.. lol.. i also did those "sitting crunches"(guess they were more like "standing crunches") while i was doing the ddr (first 30 seconds of each song.. 36 songs) so i got 36 of them in :) hope it helps this tummy lol.. gonna do em when i remember while i am just sitting here, doing nothing else, lol.. now its time to shower and clean house, lol...
ltlmsmfft---you didn't make me feel bad either...I think it's funny the scale says I'm obese. I certainly don't feel that way. I am feeling great and healthy lately and starting to look better in my skivvies if I do say so myself. Hubby is agreeing as well :)

question about egg beaters - anyone use em?? it says that 1/4 cup of them is one serving.. is this enough for an omelette?? i want to have one in the morning with some onions, mushrooms, and bell peppers... i have planned my entire day for tomorrow already... and just wondering if i am going to need more than one serving of the egg beaters or what??
unicat---I love love love egg beaters. I usually use 1/2 cup...saute veggies w/a little olive oil or pam or a boca or veggie burger or all of it...make an omelet w/egg beaters and a little low fat cheese. I love it. I tend to be a "quantity" eater so I like more of them...I like to see large plates of food in front of me...still haven't kicked that habit yet!
Speaking of kicking...can someone kick my a$$ please. I just got into the candy again. I think I'll make a cup of tea to stop the chocolate thing I have going on. No control...you'd think it was Friday. I think I got up too early and have that hazy feeling and am trying to eat to compensate. Drink water Drink water Drink water.... :)

okay pooh heres your kick in the ass... where is this candy you keep getting into?? and why is it there available for you to get into?? get rid of it.. if it belongs to someone else.. tell them to put it somewhere else, that its not so readily available to you... .my husband is a BIG candy eater, and i put all his candy waaaay high up in a cabinet where i dont see it on a daily basis....
