Bummer...can't work out like usual this morning...have to drop off a car at the shop with my husband and then have committments at my son's schools...

I hate getting off my routine...glad we have an elliptical...going to have to get on it tonight after the boy's hockey.

Goal today is to stick with 1200-1300 calories in case the workout doesn't happen....

Of course I woke up starving...going for the protien bar or the oatmeal...can't decide.

Good morning and have a great day all!

ltlmsmfft - thanks!  I am still learning and working, and have good days and bad.  If you want to see how the weight looks on me before and after, look at my photos in my profile.  There are two of me there with a super chubby face (before shots!) and in the most recent one (in a red/blue/white dress) you can see cheekbones and a skinny neck.

The measurement thing really works, but I only do it every 6 months or so.  I think you could do it a bit more often than that, but do it too much and you may go crazy waiting for that last 1/4 inch.
last few posts were very motivating for me...dumped the rest of the pad thai down the sink (leftovers from last night) ...proud of myself ate enough to fell satisfied, not full..

3 bottles of water are sitting in front of me on the desk....must drink them, before 9pm so I am not up peeing all night like yesterday.

Got a workout in...checked out your pictures hchiddenton...thanks, it's what made me stop eating the thai food and dump it down the disposal.

1. water water water

2. no glass of wine tonight

3. 1400 or less

4. more veggies....less crap
WOW Congrats hchiddenton...  wtg :)

ltlmsmfft - so that means you did break that plateu (YAY), or you werent even on one, stupid scales... lol....I am with you on the scale thing though.. even though my scale is only 8 months old, i think its getting a little flakey....  yesterday morning it weighed me as 157.5  and then this morning it was 156.5   i dont see how i could be losing a lb a day..  I know I have made some changes lately.. (starting the tae bo again last week, starting using my cpap machine which helps me get a better nights sleep, which of course helps you lose weight cos your body reguvenates during this time, started counting my calories here, trying to reach that goal of 1500 a day, which i havent yet, but at least i am getting over 1200 which is better then 857... and drinking my daily amount of water the last couple days..) but could it really have such an effect on my body???  so i basically stepped on and off the scale til finally it gave me a reading of 158...  which is .5 lb UP from yesterday, but i will deal with that, and thats what i entered for my weight today instead of the 156.5 i was seeing..i did make a note of the weird scale though..  ( oh. i also changed the battery in it, which had no effect on what it was telling me...  ) what do you guys think??  should i of gone with the 156.5 or the 158??  and I hadnt taken my measurements for a loooooooong time, so had hubby take them for me sometime towards the beginning of this month.. and was amazed at the inches lost... :) I like seeing that as much as i like seeing it drop on the scale.. I will put it in my journal here in a few minutes..  it will be my first entry :)
Yay Pooh on the willpower :)
Heather (may i call you that, lol..)I just looked at your pictures and your last journal entry, and all i can say is AWESOME :)  you look really great... :)  Your Height helps soooo much lol... I have a friend your height who had gastric bypass back in march, and her doctor has atually told her to start eating more calories a day (something like 2000 i think) because at 167 she is just right.... Some days i wish to be taller lol..  cos at my 5'5" it will probably take me another 20 lb loss to look remotely like that lol...  but KUDOs to you.. and the measurements are awesome too.. dont you just love seeing them?  well, time for me to get my daily workout in, but i will be back later i am sure :)
unicat- for the weigh in.... I always weigh myself in the am AFTER using the ladies room.  I figure I'm going to get the lowest number at that time of day and it helps me stay motivated.  I absolutely will not weigh myself any other time of day to avoid confusion.   It's hard to say which number you should go with as weight fluctuates bla bla bla.  I can't wait to get to the 140's club.  My goal is to be there no later than Feb 7th!
I have a grad class tonight and I am trying to talk myself into getting on my bike for 30 min. (pauses)

I know I'll feel great when I'm done--arrrgh! Get up! get up!

You know, a nap sounds good too :)

Dee
ltlmsmfft.. I DO weigh myself first thing in the morning, after the ladies room, lol..  and it was in this time frame that the scale wouldnt make up its mind.. :(  i got on it.. it said 156.5   i was like "NO WAY" i cant have lost another pound.. got on it again... still said 156.5...  no no no this cant be right, so i kept stepping off it, and back on, lol.. i was in complete denial that i could of lost another lb in one day... FINALLY after about the tenth time (within minutes) of doing this...i changed the battery in the scale.. it still read 156.5...  still in denial..  til after a few more tries it read 158  so i took that one, lol..    and yeah, i can wait to be in the 140s either lol..   i am setting that goal for valentines day :)

Dee get on that bike!!  YOU CAN DO IT :) and i can almost guarantee you will feel better after that bike ride then you would taking that nap....:)  I know i do :)

Brigitte
Dee- GET ON THAT BIKE!!!!:)  You don't want to feel like I did this week, knowing I should have lost more but didin't due to lazy but syndrome.  The only cure for this deadly disease is exercise.
thanks everyone for the kind words - and yes, call me Heather (I am trying to see if I can change my user name...).  I am having a sad day today, and these kinds words are the pick me up that I need.  The measurements are very motivating but at the same time, its hard to wrap my head around what I used to look like - some days I dont really see a difference.

Its hard to learn to eat just until you are full.  I remember always thinking "well I may be full now, but I will be hungry later so I should eat just a bit more".  How whacked is that?  Now I just think, if I am hungry later I will deal with it later and I keep snacks around just in case.

I know I am lucky that I am quite tall.  My sister is tall too, but my mom/aunt/gramma are all 5'1" or so.  I can carry more weight and look decent, which is a blessing.

My goal for today is to finish drinking my giant bottle of water (1.5 L) before I leave work, and to do my cardio and weights even though I (emotionally) feel like crap today.  Thanks again everyone for the kind words! :)
aww heather, you look great!  I know what you mean by "how i used to look", but you are headed down that road towards your old self right now!  I was having one of those days and I was im'ing my bf and we were talking about our weight gain and she said "i have to love myself the way i am so that somebody else can love me"  I responded with " i don't want anyone to love me right now" and i meant it.   She sent me a message saying " I love you just the way you are" and I know she meant it.  So just know that people love you even when you are down on yourself.

Well even though this weeks weight loss was slow for me, when I checked the thread for my team (Green team #2)  for the biggest looser challenge, I realized my name was in the TOP 10 BIGGEST LOOSERS for all 3 teams for the first week!!!!!!  I have to say this has boosted my confidence for the upcoming week.  I know I won't be on the top 10 for the last week but, I think I can do it for this week!  Wish me luck.
aww Heather :( sorry you are having a sad day, but you know, you finish that water before you leave work, and do that exercise and you will feel better..  the exercise will get those endorphins going which has a tendency to make your mood better :)  I dont know why you are sad today, of course.. but i do hope this makes you feel better...

and it is hard to learn to eat til you are full.. my biggest problem is that growing up my mom always made us finish what was on our plate... so especially when i go to a restaurant i have a hard time stopping when i am full cos i paid for that plate and i "have" to finish it.. BUT.. i slowly started telling em to bring me a go box WITH my food, or even before my food, and when i got it i split it in half..  ate half and boxed half...  took it home..  then would eat it the next day..  then i started thinking...  going out to eat is a treat for me...  and it may blow my diet for the day, but i dont want it to blow it two days in a row, so i would throw it out...  lately though my daughter (she is 5) has decided she wants what mommys eating, so i give her half of mine.. :) then i dont feel like i am wasting that food...  and if she doesnt eat it all, oh well.. :)

and you dont need to change your user name, when i slide my mouse over it, it says your real name :)

ltlmsmfft - WTG on being in the TOP 10 BIGGEST LOSERS for this week :) that is AWESOME :) I am sooooooo Happy for you :) and if you work hard you could be on it next week too :) YAY :)  LOTS OF LUCK :)

Brigitte

Got another question for ya'll :) lol..

so okay.. i have lost 50 lbs.. right?? lol..  what i want to know is about extra skin and tummys....  right now, the only "extra skin" (stuff thats hanging...) i have is basically on the underside of my upper arms.. bat wings, yay.. :(   my tummy has rolls, and kinda hangs down?? but i am trying sooo hard to get rid of this belly (i have a really hard time working those abs out, do you??)  and i want to know about extra skin there??  anyone got it??  is there anything we can do about it?? or to prevent it??  I have been using Nivea skin moisturizer with Q10 in it??  basically on my tummy, thighs, rear, sides, and upper arms.. am i wasting my time?? lol.. is there something i COULD be using??  that would help with the elasticity of my skin???  Anyone??
unicat, I know exactly what you are talking about. Mine is from my daughters, but the results are the same--loose skin. I like avons super shape--works nice on your butt too, but nothing I have tried has magically gotten rid of it. There are some real pricey creams out there, but I haven't tried them (I'm too cheap). I think unless we go the surgery route, we are stuck with it. Anyone else? I'm curious too.

Oh, and thanks for the encouragement guys! I did get on that bike for 30 minutes! :)

Dee
unicat & djrizzo- my son's grandmother is morbidly obese and she has looked into all the options for the loose skin issue (in the hopes that she will be thin again) and she is a pretty thourough researcher.  For the most part surgery is the only option.  If the loose skin is more mild skin firming lotions may work.  The other thing is it's more important what you are putting IN your body as opposed to what you are putting ON it.  Go to the local health food/vitamin store and ask one of the workers what's best to take.  Sadly a-lot of this has to do with genetics and how much elacticity you have in your skin.

I stuck with the exercise yesterday and lost another lb!  I also got some quaker instant grits for breakfast at work  (I figure I really shouldn't eat a skinny cow ice cream sand. or no pudge fat free brownie for breakfast every day).  Oh and I lost another lb!
It's nice to see some familiar names in here. You all seem to be doing great, and your a very supportive group. So I'm am very happy to announce that I am now in you group. 159 this morning!!!
Welcome waterphoenix!!!!  It's nice to see the formerly 160's group trickly down into the 150's :)
yay! a new member! I am hoping to trickle down myself soon--the scale bounces between 150 and 148, so until I get it consistently below 150, I'm gonna stick around for a few more days!
Welcome waterphoenix....It's a great group.

Happy to say i drank all my water yesterday....yippee for me.  Got up and worked out at the 6am jazzercise, so I feel i am off to a good start.  Going to whip up some egg beaters and veggies and be good today.  It will be a challenge.  My son turns 9 today, but instead of going out I am making him his favorite spaghetti and meatballs and a big salad.  So I'll eat some pasta and a big salad.  I purposely didn't buy bread and I'm making a brownie pizza for the kids for his cake.

1. water, water, water

2. behave myself with the food today, save it for later, in case the brownie keeps talking to me.

3. bite it, write it and plan for it.
poohct, the first bite of the brownie always tastes the best--so one is all you need, right? :)

My water bottle sits on my desk, but until I see someone else's post of waterwaterwater, I forget about it! So I just guzzled about half of it, yay!

I really hate grading papers, by the way--(im at work)

I did 20 min of yoga this morning before work, and i have a good soreness going on in my legs and bum! Love the burn!

Stay strong everyone!
