Hiya, originally I started in the 190's but am now at 176. Just wondered if there was anyone else who wanted to chat and swap inspiration/tips etc or just fess up about binges/sticking to diet/exercise etc.

I'd like to go to 147 so maybe some of you will join me!

Hello Zulupomm - I'm at 178 today but my lowest has been 174.2.  I suppose I qualify!

I started at 198 in January and have since then been losing weight.  For most of the month of March I've plateaued, but at least I'm consistently beneath 180.

I'm 20 years old, 5'4, and female.

I actually frequent the 180's club for support as well.

hey, guys! so i have been counting calories for the passed month and a half and have lost about 12 pounds. i'm 18 (19 in ten days), 5' 7" and went from being 185 to 171.5 (today). i'd love to have someone to lose with who's in the same boat as me.

i guess my main problem is restaurant eating and just eating healthier foods. i'm pretty good about portion sizes, but i'm really working on trying to go for the salad on the menu instead of half of the cheeseburger. for the passed two weeks, i've hit a total diet plateau. in the past, those have really discouraged me but i just decided to keep trying and wait it out and i saw amazed to find that my weight has pushed passed it today and i've gone down a pound, which was really exciting!

so what are you problems and what are your strengths?

Hi guys. Unfortunately I no longer qualify for the 170's club. I m at 189 since I regained 15 lbs over the winter. :( I did that last year too and relost it. Now it's on again. I been stressed over a breakeup. My weakness is using food as medicine. Feel bad? Eat something. Bad Habit! I know. I am a pretty regular exerciser, though. So that's good.

I wish you all luck. And I'd be SO Happy to be back in the 170's . So.. give me a few weeks :)
Hello Yoliechula and Maremilk -

Maremilk - Looks like you and I are around the same boat, but I've been on a plateau since the end of February.  I am soon to post my current chart in my photos.  However, we're about the same age (I'm 20 now), and I lost a lot of weight and then I plateaued.

Yolie - I see no reason why you can't be in this group!  As long as you are motivated to have a healthy lifestyle, you're in.

Today I've had painful PMS cramping, and so I haven't been hungry.  I actually ate about 100 calories for breakfast and 400 for lunch, so I suppose I'll be fine in the long run.

What do you all do for exercise, if I may ask?

hey guys, as of March 31st i'm in the 170s. as of last monday im 175.5, so i should be here for about 2 more weeks (=

i started at 211 and i started CC January 11th and all together have lost 35.5 lbs.

i'm 5'4" and 21 years old. i haven't hit a plateau (yet!!) and the weight just seems to be melting off every week haha. this is probably my biggest motivation.

as for exercise, i've been busy with school recently so i haven't exercised since my birthday (february 10th) so i've been losing weight through counting calories alone.

hey, leopardrayne. i found this site on another forum and this talks about how to beat plateaus by "zig-zag" dieting: http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calc ulator.htm

when i hit my plateau i cut my calories even more because i figured i must not be cutting enough. well, i didn't lose weight at all. i stuck to it, though. then this previous weekend i went to applebee's with a friend and ate an entire appetizer of hot wings and blue cheese for a total of 3090 calories that day. it really bummed me out that i'd slipped, but i didn't hold it against myself since i'd been doing so well. incidentally, according to that site, eating such a high-calorie meal probably helped me break my plateau. apparently you need to vary your caloric intake day by day to make sure that your metabolism doesn't lower AND you should never cut more than 400 calories a day. for example, if you eat 2000 calories one day, don't go below 1600 the next day. it's actually really fascinating and i've heard the theory before, so i definitely recommend checking that out. a zig-zag diet and plenty of cardio and weight training is probably all you need to get out of there.

for exercise, i do a lot of running/walking which has REALLY toned me up. i also have an exercise ball to do sit ups and other exercises but i rarely do that because it's so hard. haha. belly dancing and NIA is another great work out, and a fun one too! (NIA is basically just moving around to music and opening your body to your emotions and allowing yourself to freely move. i highly recommend it. it totally makes you feel like a goddess. and if you have any qualms about dancing in front of people, a month or two of NIA will get you over that). i also do weight training, mostly because i like how it feels. something i've really been trying to do especially now that the weather is good (i live in new york) is get out, walk, shoot some hoops, move a soccer ball around, just stuff that's fun and involves the outdoors. you're getting exercise without having to push yourself, which is really liberating.

i think the attitude to have, especially when you're not losing weight, is to focus on the fact that even if you're not losing anything, you're living a much more healthy life. smaller portion sizes, better food choices, and physical activity is never a bad thing. if you're losing weight on the way, it just makes it that much better! either way, you're training yourself to live a healthier life and inspiring others to do the same, which is really awesome. so keep going, guys! i know we can do it!

AFter Tuesday, I'm now in the 170's club.  I went for my annual physical and was shocked to see the scale say 184.   I started walking after that and checking my weight, eating better.  After gaining 2 more pounds then losing 5 (net loss 3 pounds) I was happy but wanted more.  Then I found this site last week.

I weighed this Tues and was 178!

I have been overweight since I got married but 184 was a peak for me.  A couple of years ago, I went back to work and lost almost 30 pounds and was 150 without even trying!  But after depression and being a SAHM, I just wasn't doing enough.

I just started Learn to Run and am doing Billy Blanks dvds.  I'm thinking about weight lifting but it will take a while to get there.

Maremilk - you have a lot of information!  The thing is, I eat until I'm full.  And then I stop.  And that causes me to not eat enough.  Ooo NY... may I ask what part? I grew up in Syracuse, my grandparents on my father's side live up in the St. Lawrence area, and I also lived near Albany.  So I know upstae pretty well.

Mrsdagle - Welcome into the 170's club.  Much as we enjoy your company, I hope you won't be here for too much longer. :-)

And what I said to Mrsdagle applies to everyone.  Even though you're all invited to stay even when you reach beneath 170, I hope you don't stay between 170 and 180 forever.

i live near the PA border, about four hours away from NYC and two from Syracuse. and then i have family all over the state so i travel all over.

yeah i have that problem too. it's really hard, isn't it? you train yourself to not eat a lot and then it turns out that you're eating less than you're supposed to. i guess the way to do it is eat a piece of cake once in a while instead of a carrot. or eat a lot of dark chocolate. healthy, but still fattening.

anyway, i'm down to 170.0 officially but i'm probably going to stick around this forum.

I keep a stash of nuts around and yesterday I needed them to boost my calorie/protein intake.  I had overdone it terribly with salt early in the day and so I resorted to 2 servings of unsalted pistachios at 178 calories a serving.  I keep nuts in the car for my workouts too, so I can sate my hunger immediately afterwards.

Maremilk - Binghamton?  I have extended family there.  And for me, I have trained myself to eat healthily... not necessarily a lot... I just fill up and I stop, and I end up with only a 300 - 500 calorie meal that keeps me full for six hours.  And congrats on hitting 170.

Mrsdagle - it's a good idea with nuts.  I, on the other hand, only eat nuts on my salad (sunflower seeds usually).  I wish I could afford to regularly buy nuts.

176.8 today.  Sad number, really.  I wish it could go down and STAY down.

God I wish nuts could fill me up. I love them! But they don't and I end up snacking on them until I've probably consumed 300 calories worth. Usually when I'm starving, I really need some sort of carb/protein combo. Dairy products and a slice of bread with a thin layer of peanut butter really helps.

I live in Elmira. It's about 45 minutes away from Binghamton, although I'll be moving there next year. So I have started the zig-zag diet and yesterday I had to eat 1399 calories and I actually found it hard to do! I had to eat a banana just before bed in order to get up to that number. So I'm on day 3 of the experimental zig zag (and today I have to eat 2099, so I had a piece of toast/peanut butter along with my usual cheerios for breakfast, hoping to up the number). I just want to see if it works or what it does. I'd be really excited if it really does work at avoiding plateaus. That would be great!

Anybody have any good motivation for exercise? I'm just getting over a cold and I have absolutely NO desire to get back on that treadmill...

Also, leopardraye, I don't think that's a sad number! You went down, didn't you?

uggggh i've hit another plateau! i'm fluctuating between 170 and 171 without going down. sooooo frustrating!

Hello. I'm 5'4" and weigh 176.2. I'm 41 years old and the scale has been brutal the last 2 1/2 months. I started at 180.2. I'm must have a thing for the .2 part. Let's hopefully be the 160's group soon.
I'm still at 175 ish, my low was 174.8 this week, but my lowest has been 174.2, which I'm hoping to see tomorrow.

Is there even a 160's group, Deamarie?

Maremilk - I'm sorry about your plateau.  I, on the other hand, am losing about 1 pound a week, and it's a lot slower than what I'm used to.
I'm sure there is a 106's group. I haven't been looking though. I've been stuck here.  :(

leopardrayne - 1 lb a week. I would be pumped if I could lose 1 lb a week. Great job!!!! I've been at this since 2/5 and have only lost 4 lbs. Not really very motivating.
Dea - Aww I hope things start moving in the right direction!

How have you changed your lifestyle?
You bet I have. I am now working out on a treadmill. I faithly log my calories. I eat about 1400-1500 on days I work out and 1200 on days I don't. That's the frustrating part is I've been so good and nothing is happening. I'm healthy, no thyroid problems so I have no idea what my bodies issue is.
I'm guessing you don't eat enough.  I don't eat any differently on active v. sedentary days, at 1300 - 1500, but I have 1 - 2 1800 Calorie days to stir up my metabolism.

That's what I've done actually to shift my metabolism.

I eat breakfast (almost) everyday, and I eat probably 4 meals a day.  Or 3 and a hefty snack.  Keeps my metabolism moving.
