Anybody out there in their 50s??
We seem to have a little harder time dropping our weight. Slower metabolism and less active I think. I'm looking for the 50s group to lose and share with. I KNOW you're out there!

Happy 2009! We can make this the best year yet!

Just so "the old lady" doesn't think she killed the thread... I'll add something.  (Happy Birthday, JCR!!)

Now that the school year is beginning and all the busyness the gets added to the schedule, it's taking more work to keep eating well, and it's especially hard to get regular exercise.  I easily slip into couch potato mode so when I get busy, exercise is the first thing to go out of my schedule.

And that probably starts a downward spiral; first, less exercise day after day means lost muscle.  The metabolism slows down, and eventually you go from losing or maintaining to gaining.  And it ain't pretty!!  So the challenge for me is to figure out how to keep exercise high in my priority list, even if it means something else doesn't get done.

Hey Everybody, Sounds like we are all on the same wave of thinking let's lose it once and for all.  We did it once we can do it again.

I've been walking 4 days a week I rest on Sunday.  Walked 4 miles yesterday.  Taking care of my granddaughter today and she doesn't like walking.  I have my plans on a bike.  I have seen many lady's riding around here.  Maybe I'll check some out next weekend.  Something to write on my Christmas list.  I'm glad we are all doing this again let's get ready for the holidays and then for summer again.

I have to be honest I'm still having trouble with drinking my water as of today zero water.... As soon as I finish here I'll have some.  The is metabolism is so slow I lost 2lbs this week setting my goal for 2 more for next week but I find it even two pounds to be a job.

Girls lets do thisYell darn I hate it that my metabolism is so slow but I am maintaining and depending on what I eat I will gain.

Loven- I bought a new bike at the end of last summer.  I love it!  Right now is a great time to buy one if you can since most places are closing out their 2008 models.  (Just like cars...)  Hope you find something that you like.

bikerchick, thank you for this information.  I will go out this weekend and check them out.  I hope I do find something I like and doesn't make my butt to soar I will need a wide seat and soft too.  Hey, I did lose 2lbs I am working on my next two for this week.  Lil constipated...I know drink that darn water.  Water, Water, water why can't I do this

OMG I missed JCR"s Birthday!!! I hope it was the very BEST yet. HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY GIRL FRIEND!!! And don't you DARE go anywhere.
Today was a pretty somber day given the date. I really find it hard to believe it's been 7 years since that horrible day. It is still so fresh in my mind. On a lighter note....no not my weight. I got a new test date of 9-25, so please pray that it doesn't rain. I ride to work everyday that rain isn't in the forcast. Rain hurts. Yea I'm bad, I ride with capris and a t-shirt when it's warm. I'm gonna be a "BIKER CHICK" for halloween. Too much fun. The race was great fun, but lots of munching. Then it was Heather's Birthday. We went to Miyako's, a japanese steakhouse. It was a lot of fun and the food was terrific. I was bad. Clay turns 50 on the 16th. So I go out again. To Olive Garden. TROUBLE with a capital T. If I loose anything in September it will be a miracle. And I guess I have to look for a younger man. Mine is gettin up there.
Dang Loven, you gettin a bike too? That's great! I did a lot of research on-line before I got mine. Used small bikes are hard to find around here. Can't wait to hear what you find. Sit on a Suzuki Boulevard. They are soo comfortable. Perfect balance, and a low center of gravity. Plus I like the "sportster" look. When I'm ready for a bigger bike it will be a Boulevard for sure. Coffee's ready, gotta go>
I love you guys!

LOL - I guess we're going to have to be more specific!  Loven is looking for a bicycle type bike, at least I think???   (Maybe I assumed wrong!)

Hey Loven - are you looking for a bicycle or a motorcycle??
OOOPS I  guess I just ASSUMED!
Either way.....GOOD for you Loven!

Ok New PICS ARE UP! Check out my bike! And some from summer vacation, we kinda look asian with the squinting and all.

Munsey, You go You look great on that bike.  Yeah, for me right now its just a bicycle.  I would love to ride in the wind someday.  Now I see you I believe I have a new goal.  Have fun all

Great pics, muns! You look so good on your bike. Looks like you have quite the summer. Good for you! (Heather's BF is so cute. They're serious?)
They are serious for now anyway. He's a gem. She couldn't find a guy who would treat her better. That may be his downfall. He's too accomodating, so not a challenge, if you know what I mean. And she has a wondering eye. However, she's not in a job now where there are temptations. They are both Correctional Officers in different facilities. Thanks for the compliments on the bike. It's a cutie, alright.
Simply gorgeous bike, Muns!!   You look great on it, too.  I'm glad you're enjoying it so much.  They really are a blast, huh??!
Too much fun!!! I really hate to see the season end. I don't want to put it away. We're still bonding. I have to take it in for it's first check-up on Wednesday. I take it in that night, and pick it up Thursday. It's got over 650 miles on it. I hate to give it up, even for a day. I know that sounds nuts. I looked at the odometer tonight when I got home from the gym. 666 Nice huh? I'll be very careful in the morning.
Muns -I hope your "baby" had a good checkup!
Drat and double drat, my yard projects still aren't done, so the bikes have sat pretty much all summer. I miss my babies!   On the good side, at least I'm getting lots of muscles from the yard work.  Gotta' look at the bright side, I guess.
Hi girls, it's old Auntie Bub dropping in every other month. What a summer! Zack had baseball literally every day and most weekends were spent out of town at tournaments. Then August hit and we were off to baseball camps to get colleges to look at him. I think I could write a book on what to do and not to do when trying to get your kid to play baseball in college.

Things are tapering down now except now we have college admission forms to deal with. I'm sure I'll miss all this activity next year when Zack's gone - at least that's what I keep telling myself.

On a positive note, I am down 7 pounds from when I started this site over a year ago and I haven't gained for a while but I am stuck. My friend and I are walking again and my daughter has moved back from NYC and she's all about wellness. We've instituted a family challenge that entails both punishment and reward. We eliminate one food each week. First week was bread and second was potatoes. I slipped and ate potato leek soup at a place that mostly has stroms so I thought I was being good and forgot I had sworn off potatoes for the week! So my punishment is no tv for a week which is really a good thing since I'll have more time to catch up here. Glad to see everyone hanging in here.

Hey Auntie Bub!  Long time no C!  It sounds like you've been living in a whirlwind of activity this summer.  You've done well to lose 7 pounds and keep it off :)  I had to laugh at no TV for a week... reminds me of dealing with naughty kiddo's!  And it should leave you lots of extra time for walking ;)  Be sure to stop in again soon and give us a progress report!

I'm still working hard to get the yard projects done; I had set aside today to work out there and it's rained alllll day.  I may have to go hop on the treadmill just to get some exercise, but I'm still in total denial that summer is coming to an end :-O

Good Morning! Wow, great day for a long walk not to hot yet and not to cold this morning.  I had a wonderful weekend my daughter and kids arrived with a surprise visit from Hollister. We had a great time.  I kept everyone eating lot of vegetables and fruits.  One day of taco's (home made) No, I didn't go eat any I had chicken and veg.

Well down 2 more lbs I am on a roll.  This week I need to visit the gym for some weight lifts.  Mum's you do look beautiful.

Loven- sounds like you're doing great!  How many times do you make it to the gym in a week?   Congrats on the 2 down :)

I take my long walks more than I visit the Gym.  My plan is visit the gym twice a week for a lil change.

Today no walking have a lil spasam on my back I am in some pain right now doing some streaching and heat.

I'm feeling kinda lost. I know there are only 7 days left on the old CC site so I'm trying this new one and I'm sooooo confused! Hopefully I'll figure it out cause I don't want to lose track of you guys. It just seems so much harder than the old site.

Glad the some of us who have been MIA are back. Hi, Bub! Great to "see" you again. Hope you're feeling better, Loven. Back pain can be so nasty!

Guess I'd best figure out how to use the tools here, too. Problem is, I don't have the time/inclination/energy to spend a lot of time learning a bunch of new stuff. Why couldn't they just have kept the old CC?  (whine, whine....)

OH HAPPY DAY!!!! I DID IT! I DID IT! I DID IT! I'M LEGAL AS OF TODAY!

Sorry I've been sooo preoccupied with this test thing. I was watching the weather all week, and just knew I'd get rained out again. But prayers were answered! The sun shown this morning, and despite the cold and the wind, I got to test. I felt really ready and was very comfortable on MY motorcycle. I'm proud to say I aced it, with no points for mistakes. I wish I could say I've done as well with my weight. NOT SO! Maybe now I can focus on that. I've got to lose about 12 pounds for sure.

JCR, I hear your pain! I was dumped over here too. I'm lost also, but have no choice I guess. Today I'm feeling a little like "wonder woman" so I'll take it on I guess.

Loven, I hear you too! I've spent a little time with the chiropractor this month!!!

Hey Bub! How ya doin girlfriend!

Guess I'll go look around this place, and check out the diggs.Laughing
