The "in our 50s group" ****GROUP OPEN****

Quote  |  Reply

Anybody out there in their 50s??
We seem to have a little harder time dropping our weight. Slower metabolism and less active I think. I'm looking for the 50s group to lose and share with. I KNOW you're out there!

Happy 2009! We can make this the best year yet!

Hi Change. I'm here! Guess the two of us will just have to have a little chat. I just got back from the grocery store (all healthy stuff, I'm happy to report.)  The funny thing is that the place was PACKED, the cashiers grousing at how busy it has been all day. It's almost like that panic that comes before a snow storm. But since the temp is 52, I doubt that we'll get any snow!!!  Wink

Snow sounds so nice right now!  We've got rain, rain, rain and more rain in the forecast and it's raining right now.   I think there's a trend here!

Have you tried any new healthy foods lately?  My only adventure has been to give capers a try (in a restaurant dish).  I'm not even sure they're "healthy" per se, but they can't be too bad.  I liked them, by the way!

We had homemade Taco's for supper tonight probably not the healthiest food but it was fast and we didn't have any lunch.

I am going to go thru my cook books and see if I can find any new dishes to try that are healthy.

My goal for this month is 6 pounds but if I loose any of it I will be happy.  Weigh ins are on Saturdays this month and wouldn't you know it I am going to be out of town next Saturday so I can't weigh in until I get back on Tuesday.

My brother sent me this link. I thought it was more than appropriate for our thread! If you need a good laugh, it's well worth your time to click on it! Laughing

Oops. Sorry the link didn't work. I'll try again. Hopefully this time's the charm.

Wheeeeee!  LOL!  That is hilarious - and yes, we're right there in the middle of that scene now!

Was that Munsey on the motorized shopping cart???? ... and Change hanging on the back??  ;)   Those girls really get around!

Oh that was really just too funny....killing myself laughing.  That's one for JC

Anyone else ever tried pita pockets for mini-pizzas? I had one for lunch this afternoon - just used the pita as the crust, piled on veggies and low fat mozzarella and heated it for about 15 minutes at 350 until it was heated through and the cheese melted. Delicious! As sooooo far fewer calories than regular pizza. Don't know why I never did this before.

I have used flat bread but not a pita pocket.  I must check out the difference in calories etc. It would make for a fast lunch.

I love pita bread but haven't tried them in mini-pizza mode.  It sounds like a great idea!  Last time I bought some mini-pockets.  They're about 3 or 4 inches in diameter.  I got to enjoy a couple of them before DS (teenage son) polished them off.  LOL - I better eat faster next time!

Gee ever since we closed our little group no one is ever around any more.  Where is everyone?

Hi Everyone,

Life has been crazy busy -- and still is - just thought I'd pop in and say "hi".

I will try to do a catch up soon.

take care all

Cool

Maybe we could all quote Dee!  It pretty well sums up where I'm at right now...

Our summer yard projects are still not completed.  I'm trying to finish up in between rainy spells, which are very frequent this time of year.

And now the Christmas season is upon us!  What's everyone doing to avoid the typical 10 pounds that get added on this time of year?  I didn't do well over Thanksgiving, so I'm renewing my efforts at being more mindful of eating, but especially making plans so that I get regular exercise.

Happy December to everyone!

Oh good Lord....is it really December? My fat buts been outta site for how long???? I think my last post was in September. Life has been speeding by, with some pretty big speed bumps along the way. I'm stuck around 170. Still got these 10-12 ugly pounds hangin on. I don't know if i'll be able to log before the new year. I'll get on board for sure then...promise. Hope all are well!

Yep, Dee, you pretty much summed it up!

*****jcr waves at munsey and biker, too*****

Glad we could meet up here... I'm limping along with the rest of you all. Here's to a good December for us all. I'll check in later, hopefully sooner rather than later!

Wow - nice to hear from you Muns! Missed you!

***waving to jcr, dee and muns all at the same time***

So, if we're all so busy running around here and there, keeping families together, walking a million miles at the mall while shopping, WHY aren't we losing weight with all this activity?   I'm sure I'm more active now than I was 10 years ago...  it kind of points to eating too much!  Uh-oh!

We have been busy getting ready for the Christmas season and family.  And we added a new member to the family...........a VFR650......you gals that ride motorcycles probably know what it is.  We pick it up in April 2009 hubby says it is his retirement present.  Now is he going to retire????

Just think we have five months to get some more weight off before the motorcycle season starts again (at least here in Ontario) then I call it ride to eat because that is what it seems always happens when we get together in a group.

Hope all are well.

Hi All

I'm down a couple of more -- pant pant pant -- no - im not exercising - i'm running around like a chicken with my head cut off -- lol.

Why do we create all this stress for ourselves???Yell

I hereby declare - a day to slow down !! Cool

take care,

Dee

Fatty Mcpatty here!!! Merry Christmas to all and to all a good fight! On the fat that is. This little piggy has been eating like a BIG piggy and has 15 pounds to lose for it. Oh well. I'm looking forward to getting back in the saddle. Can't happen soon enough. Pants are tight. Hope all are great! Opened up the thread for some new blood!

Hey, All - Nice to see this thread operational again. I'm looking forward to a good year. Some changes need to happen, that's for sure, but I'm starting to feel the motivation again. And I agree with Dee, it's time to slow down, take a deep breath, and think about what's important. Health is priceless, and we are all capable of doing a lot to make it better. Anyone want to join me on this journey - again?

Anyone new happen to check out this thread? Please feel very welcome to join us!
