The "in our 50s group" ****GROUP OPEN****
Anybody out there in their 50s??
We seem to have a little harder time dropping our weight. Slower metabolism and less active I think. I'm looking for the 50s group to lose and share with. I KNOW you're out there!
Happy 2009! We can make this the best year yet!
Sure does make me a cheep date doesn't it. Now all I have to do is plan a nice lunch and still stay on track. I actually do feel a lot better but did wake up with a bit of a headache again. Hopefully this and all the trips to the bathroom all night will go away soon. I told hubby if I get 10 pounds off he has to take me to Dairy Queen for a small chocolate dipped soft ice cream, I know it is food but that is going to be my treat. He of coarse just rolled his eyes because I have been trying so hard for the past two years and nothing is happening so he figures he is off the hook for the ice cream. Don't get me wrong he is supportive but skeptical.
Just weighed myself and I am jumping up and down with the biggest grin on my face you have ever seen. Linda I could kiss you. I am down three that is 3, 3 pounds. And this is not hard at all. I wish I had done this sooner it would have taken all the heart ache away. Now bring on next week. Roar!!!!
I really do feel great.
Wheeee...great job Sandra! You did allll the work sweetie, I just torqued your plan a little. :) Gosh I am so proud of you!
JCR where are you? How have you been doing?
Hi.. this is a 50's newcomer who wants to take it off.. walkiing in cyberspace and in real life to move that metabolism... yes, it is MUCH harder to lose ANYTHING at this age than it was in my forties or thirties (and it was HARD then).... i HAVE LET IT GET OUT OF HAND, AND NEED SUPPORT... THE METABLOIC PIECE IS A REALLY DIFFICULT ONE FOR ME... But since Mar 19, when I joined, I have been walking EVERyday FOR AN HOUR... AT LEAST... LET ME KNOW IF ANYONE IS OUT THERE WHO IS 50;S MENOPAUSAL, AND READY TO MOVE IT OFF!!!!!![]()

Hi, I read your post and really identified with your life, your work this week, and wanted to congratulate you on your loss! I am totally committed to taking off this weight, and it is SOOOdifficult at this age... 50;s... I am menopausal, and I have a teen son at home.. graduating in June.. I just don't want to look like a tank in those pix, and I don't want to HURT in my joints anymore.... I am at 205 now and all of a sudden got a period ... and when that happens my entire BODY goes into overwhelming pain, and I gain OVERNIGHT 4-8 pounds... and it is REALLY REALLY hard to stay positive after this stuff going on in my life for over 40 years... it is exhausting! HOWEVER... I am writing this, and after I do, I will get up out of bed, and put on my shoes and WALK.. and I know I might hurt, but I will FEEL BETTer... BECAUSE i won't be resorting to comforting myself through the pain by eating my way through it.... my goodness, thanks for listening... Bonnie/dramaqun

Welcome aboard Dramaqun! :) We're all in the same boat..in our 50s and trying to lose weight but it's a very hard journey! Hey, at least we keep trying! Good luck on your journey and congrats on all your walking!
Thanks serenitygirl.. thank so much for listening and responding....the trickiest thing for me here is that I am getting a ton of replies in my mail...and am having trouble accessing them...(and obviously am having trouble posting as well)... what do I click on when the info for reply comes up...the person's name? when I do that it comes up at the top of a group, and that is not usually timely... I mean, it comes up at the first post, I guess... so, when I press the last number... like here I clicked "94" is that what I am always supposed to do to see a reply in a forum? OR ANY OTHER ACTUAL INFO regarding actually posting and responding to posts... I would appreciate it.. like when I finish this I will press post reply and it comes up edit... I keep trying different things to get out of that... then the posts end up all in a row.. I am sounding like a mental case here... I think I need to find somebody on this end to help me... maybe my son...
At any rate... walked twice yesterday (even with a flow)... for a total of about an hour 45 ... picked up a pedometer... and that is extremely good..
MOtivating to get up and get out... today I am totally downed by pain.. so I am going to take it easy tonight... thanks again for the warm welcome...
I am here to help motivate anyone who needs it... best

That's great you haven't gained back any of your weight..that in itself is a success sometimes! I agree with you..I don't really care for the W.W. forums much.
