150's newbie looking for buddies
Hi...
I'm a newbie, just one week. You know...new year, gotta get motivated. I've done it all weight watchers, south beach...etc.
I see the doctor every December and we have the conversation about losing a few. Happy to say, he is always dieting too. So, this year, he said, it's all about math...less calories in than going out. So far, it's working. I have days I go up a bit, but I know that's normal.
My goals this week are
1. stay on it
2. if i bite it, i need to write it
3. water
4. more protein, less processed
Looking for some buddies out there, that are in a similiar situation.
I am 5'6", 158 lbs. looking to see 135-140 by summer....

Win with the stickers. Most of those people that stick to this sight lose weight. Welcome to cc. Your goals sound very reasonable. Have a great day

I'm shooting for 135 by summer too--right now I am at 150.8, and I have been back on the wagon for a full week now. My goals this week
1. No beer--makes me bloated
2. more yoga--it makes me feel good!
3. More green tea
4. get to bed earlier--well rested equals greater will power during the day
We can do this!

Thanks...trying to take it a day at a time and a lb at a time.
Also, forgot to say how great this doctor is....He made me "accountable to him" and scheduled a follow up appointment for 2 months where he wants me to be down 6-8 lbs. I think it makes a difference in how I am motivated. I really want to go back there and have lost it.

Hi Poo?! great idea
Id like to join this buddy group, also started seriously counting this week. To many years - too many diets.
I read the threads about undereating and that then a couple of biscuits amounts to a binge for a body in starvation mode, so Im trying to keep to 1200-1400 approx. daily and see what happens. Its more than I usually eat, but more 'real' food, trying for as many A's as possible, and weighing everything. Eating more often but smaller amounts throughout the day to stop the hungry grab for something.
It is taking me a long time to find the calorie count for everything, does anyone know how to change to grams from metric in the food counter place? I have tagged this site.
Start weight 156lb aim for 127 by latest September, but summer would be nice.

PS no exercise on your excellent aims for this week list.... I think that is probably the most important one to try and increase?
Hi Pooh,
I'm 5'4", at 156 and in my first week (scale shows I've lost 2 lbs since last Wednesday). My goal is to be at 135 by July. I'm getting married on 07/07/07, and not only want to be at 135, but a FIT 135.
I lost 25 lbs two years ago on the South Beach diet. But after being on this site, I realize that SB is the wrong way to do it. A fad diet that doesn't help you KEEP the pounds off. This is as much about the lifestyle change as the diet part of it. I'm trying to stay away from the "junk" and eat healthy. Hard part for me is I don't like a lot of veggies, but I try to keep my serving up of the ones I do like.
I bought the book "Buff Brides" but it can be a great guide for anyone who is wanting to shape up. It has easy, do-at-home exercises, that only take about 30-40 minutes every other day. In addition to that I'm trying to do cardio at least 30 minutes a day and stretching before and after each workout.
Good luck. This is the best support group I've found yet, and it's nice to have others to help us stay motivated.

Thanks all...we'll keep this up and try to motivate eachother...
I actually didn't put any exercise goals for this week because I take it for granted...I do jazzercise for an hour class four to five days a week and then 20 minutes on the elliptical at home each day after class and on Saturdays i run 2 miles and take Sunday off...
Unfortunately activity isn't my problem...it's my bad food choices...
I was proud of myself at dinner tonight...I made some homemade soup and didn't take seconds...just ate the crusts of my 5 yr old's sourdough bread and wanted to eat the 1/2 piece of bread my 10 year old left on the table...but told him to throw it away...
Actually ate a meal without having to leave the table completely full. Usually I eat till I can't eat anymore...that is what I totally need to change.

hi guys--
also at 155 and 5'6" and want to be in 130 range by may for my wedding...and for my health and sanity
my challenge is that i'm a manager of a pizza restuarant and bar...mmm, nothing like beer and the constant tempation of pizza to wreck a diet
i do love to cook fresh at home, but with a 60-70 hour work week that includes many late nights, it is so hard to find the time and energy
i have a gym membership that i now refer to as my monthly "fat tax"...my goal is to use it 3-4 times a week. i know i'll see an increase in energy. its just the intial getting out of bed or off the couch or barstool...21 days to create a habit, right??
would love to help motivate and need all the help i can get...a now too tight wedding dress should help right :)
thank guys!

calories are under 1500, which is good, i guess because i burned about 600 today....again my problem...not the smartest food choices..
I'll try to post a 150's tomorrow...
Think positive thoughts...I'm going to bed so I don't eat anymore...
sleep must burn some calories...huh?

I am new too, just joined yesterday :)
I feel like i may have found a spot that fits me on here :) I am 5'6" and i am 159 :( .....i just started this website about 2 weeks ago and i am down from 163. I know that is a good start, but I will feel more accomplished when i hit the 155 mark and probably every five from that point (where do we come up with these magic numbers??). I started by changing my diet by eating breakfast EVERYday (which i rarely did before) and snacking in at 9am and at 2:30pm and eating heathy lunches everday. Next stop dinner which proves to be a bit harder. I have been married for a year and a half now, and my husband is a meat and potatos kind of guys...doesn't like fish, chicken...if it ain't red he dosen't like it! Grrrr. But I'm trying if he dosen't start to budge a little i will leave him behind and let him see all the weight i lose:)...then maybe he will cooperate. My goal weight....well i have two magic numbers (??) 136 or 127...again i don't know where or why we come up with em...but we do :) Wish you all luck! I will keep in touch. hopefully we can all help eachother!
