I am having an 80s party with my entire class next month and i am trying to figure out the playlist for the music that i will be playing for the party, and i am kind of fresh out of ideas as far as it goes music wise, any suggestions??
Also, if you have any ideas for things to do at the party (i.e. games, different foods) or decor ideas that would also be most appreciated
anyone??
Games like board games? Balderbash came out in the 80s as did Aggravation.

Weather Girls (It's Raining Men)
The "do they know it's Christmas" song
you could probably get away with some MC Hammer.
I would go with some NWA, Ice T and Public Enemy as well, but if it is a class thing it probably isn't appropriate. :)
Twister pretty much goes without saying too. Have Molly Ringwald movies playing somewhere. If you can get hold of old arcade games that would work. Pac-man and Frogger!
That's the best I can do right now!
Men at Work - Down Under
Duran Duran - Hungry Like the Wolf
Culture Club - Karma Chameleon and Do You Really Want to Hurt Me
Wham! - Wake Me Up Before You Go Go
The Proclaimers - I Would Walk 500 Miles
From the Breakfast Club Soundtrack - Don't You (Forget About Me) this song is a MUST for an 80s party
The Buggles - Video Killed the Radio Star
Guns 'n' Roses - Sweet Child O'Mine
U2 - Sunday Bloody Sunday
Van Halen - Hot for Teacher
Michael Jackson - Thriller
XTC - Making Plans for Nigel
ACDC - You Shook Me All Night Long
Queen - Another One Bites the Dust
Aerosmith - Jaine's Got a Gun (kind of a bummer for a party but a huge song in the 80s)
The B-52s - Love Shack (or Rock Lobster as it's one of my favs)
Depeche Mode - People are People
Ghostbusters theme song
Okay that's all for right now. I hope I helped a little. You probably already have all these songs but each of them are the eptiome of 80s music.
- Take On Me
- The Look of Love,
- Dancing With Myself
- Don't You (Forget About Me)
- Karma Chameleon
- Video Killed the Radio Star
- Should I Stay or Should I Go
- Girls Just Want to Have Fun

- We Got the Beat
- Miami Vice Theme
- Our House

You could also come up with plenty of 80s trivia questions. With music, you could ask what song is this line from or what singer (preferrably not around anymore) sang that song. With film or TV shows, you can ask who played certain characters, from what does a certain line or catchphase come from, what was the name of a sequel, etc. IMDB.com would be helpful. You could put questions and answers on paper and have people the questions to be asked.
I hope youre planning to wear your hair scrunchies, leg warmers and cut up sweatshirt. :P

As well, for the party, don't forget "Aqua Net" hairspray to get the FULL "mall hair" look...LOL. Granny boots (short), long white blouses with hip belts. Huge earrings. When everyone arrives, pass them a coat hanger....aka the tool needed to pulllllll up the zipper on those tight jeans that were ESSENTIAL in the 80's! (I still shudder when I look at hangers. LOL!)
Go to 7-Eleven and buy a bunch of "Big Gulp" cups for the party. Buy those single earrings from the dollar store that are studs with a chain and a clip to your upper ear for everyone. LOL! OMG, I almost forgot about those!
And I could go on for days. LOL. Can you TELL I was a teenager in the 80's??!!
Just DON'T FORGET THE SONG "HEY MICKEY" BY TONI BASIL!!!!!
ET stuff, Garbage Pale kids, legwarmers, sporty headbands, lots of pastels (yuk, never did like how pastels looked on me), lots of rings, make sure you put a birthmark on your face somewhere (see Madonna's early pictures), lots of black rubber bracelets....
Also...Erasure, DePeche Mode, Orchestral Manuevers in the Dark (aka: OMD).
You can try watching Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink, Some Kind of Wonderful, St. Elmo's Fire....to get some more ideas.
in the party favors i am getting all of the girls jelly bracelets and scrunchies and the guys will get either thos ray-ban sunglasse (i think that'sa what they're called-they're the kind that look like almost a headband) or the kind of sunglasses that they have on miami vice and everyone's getting like candy that was popular during that time
we're thinking about showing Ferris bhulers's day off--idk because that's one of the few totally appropriate movies (my mom's really stricht with what other kids can watch when they come into our house) --------Any other ideas??
Toto - Africa
Flock of seagulls
hall & oates - Bitch girl
Just a few...
