140s want to be 130s discussion/support group *ALWAYS OPEN*

Quote  |  Reply

taking a page from restless_girl's book, because i don't understand why groups have to be exclusive.

me, i've been kicking around in the 140s (both extremes and everywhere in between) for over a year now, and trying to get down to 135.  at my highest i was 167-ish; that was long ago.  but it seems that every time i knock at the door of 139, i get complacent and backslide (beer & chicken wings anyone?).

weigh-in if you want, or just commisserate and support.  i'll pop in periodically ;)

forever ~ Hope you are having a great time at Disney! I bet Florida is nice and warm. Enjoy your freedom from food and just enjoy it! I think we all need that at times, to stop worrying about every single thing we put in our mouths. Can't wait to hear about your trip!

oddfunk ~ Yay for the 140's! Keep up the good work!

pg ~ Wow sounds like you've got a lot going for you! That's awesome. Hope the telephone interview goes well!

Doing well here, lots of working out with my trainer, who is leaving the gym probably within a week. Booo! But I figure I've got to grow up and learn to motivate and push myself at some point, rather than relying on him for that. So trying to fit in as many training sessions as possible until he leaves and then I switch to a new trainer until my sessions run out. Eating well too, lots of chicken and fish and all that jazz. I am flying up to my parents house this weekend to see family so that'll be a fun weekend of trying to to overindulge too much!

Hope everyone has a nice rest of the week!

Still fluctuating in the 148-149 range.

I'm the same way.  I just go back and forth between these two weights.  I can't get below 148.

Just discovered tonight that Thai food is not that bad in calories.  At least, not the recipes I found online.  Hopefully, they're somewhat close to the calories in the restaurant versions.

Original Post by pgeorgian:

susie, my bike is in the shed, and the door to the shed is blocked by 3-4 feet of snow.  i think it's going to be more than a month before i can dig it out ;)

i have to say, though, that when i made friends with mud, i became a much happier person.

I don't mind mud so much in the evenings/weekend when I can wear my grungy clothes.  But I can't show up to work covered in mud on a teaching day - well, not without getting funny looks from the students!  Smile  (The showers are on the opposite end of campus, so showering after I get here isn't really an option.)  I don't envy you your snow, though.  Ours all cleared out this weekend - only for it to start snowing again this morning!

Okay I'm back.  As far as the weight goes.... drum roll please......148.8!  I gained 8 pounds in 8 days!  Talk about not holding back.  I was so full when I was down there.  I had all kinds of burgers, fries, cheesecakes, steaks, etc.   Yumm Yumm.  What a great vacation!  Now I'm back and it's time to get to work.  On the plus side it seems as though I've brought back some decent weather with me, I get to run outside with the dog today... woo hoo.  She'll be so happy.  On the down side I have to admit I am a little upset to have gained so much, but I knew it would happen and it wont stick.  Laughing

forever ~ Welcome back! How was the trip? Sounds like you had a good time! I wouldn't worry too much about the weight, I'd bet a lot of it is water/sodium from all the foods you aren't used to eating. Give it a week or two and you'll be back to fighting weight.

I'm doing well. I didn't work out at all this weekend but tried to watch what I ate. I was so sore after last week of all the working out I did with my trainer and was just ready for a break. It was nice! I'll be back at it this week though (of course!).

How is everyone else? Hope you all had a good weekend!

Hi everyone.  It's good to see that everyone is still doing well.  Forever, I'm sure it is water and will be gone in no time.  I gained almot 5 lbs in a week of not eating THAT bad....it freaked me out a little but when I weighed again a week after that, 3.8 lbs of it was gone.  So, only about a 1 lb gain, easily doable.  I am working on it now....trying to dip into the 120's, we'll see if that happens.  PG - how'd the telephone interview go?  Karen - how is it going with the new trainer?

Yay! Glad to see this thread was brought back up.

Okie ~ Good luck with the 120's! Heck, making it into the 130's is celebration enough!

Me ~ New trainer is ok. Trying to get used to him and how he works. It's a crazy back-and-forth between new trainer and old trainer on their respective beliefs on working out and I have no idea who to believe. I still talk to old trainer and will be working out with him as well. Should be interesting!

How is everyone else doing?

Oh yeah, I agree...making it to the 130's was a HUGE celebration!  I amazed myself for sure.

Things are going well.  The local greenhouse had fresh cherry tomatoes this weekend so I am a very happy camper.  Smile  I pulled my bike out of the shed too and went for a short ride on Saturday.  Then it snowed again, but it seems to be melting pretty fast.

146.5 this morning (a new low).  Nearly at the halfway mark (145).

Hi All- hoping I can join your group. Last week I recorded a weight of 143- so I am getting close! My goal is 135 to allow for fluctuation so I don't go over 140. I have traditionally been pretty comfy in the low 140s but never before an exerciser or healthy eater (When I startred doing those two things I was closer to 160). So I know what you are saying about feeling complacent and I don't want that to happen even though my clothes are fitting so much better already!

I love this site and have learned so much and have found it very motivating since I joined in January. Looking for an active group of like minded people-my other group is a little flat right now. I love animals and exercise too, but pgeorgians exchange with the MG is what really convinced me to post a request to join!Cool

Thanks and be well.

susie ~ Yay for the low weight! You are so close to that half way point, keep up the good work! Isn't it so nice to be able to get outside now? It's a gorgeous day today here in LA, almost 80 degrees!

future ~ Of course you are welcome to join! We try to keep this group going although we all tend to get busy and forget to post for a bit. But when it pops back up on the first page, I think we all jump back in so keep in posting! That is so great about your weight loss, no easy task we all know! Yay for you and keep up the good work! Definitely easy to get complacent, healthy eating and exercising are something we always have to be aware of but it gives us such great results. I am sure PG will pop in here soon, she's always got great tales of her adventurous runs and hikes with her pup.

Hey girls!!  Sorry it's been so long.  I've been consumed with starting my new program.  We are doing P90X.  I'm so excited about it.  I just finished my first week, it was intense!!  It's me and my boyfriend, my friend and her husband.  We all meet at my house at 5:30am, have coffee, start our workout at 6am and when were finished we have breakfast.  It's been awesome, we all have been so sore all week.  It's great to have a group of people because we keep each other motivated.

Forever ~ Sounds fun! I've heard that program is really intense but gets results. Keep up the good work and let us know how your progress goes!

Hey there! Wondering if I can join your group.

I used to weigh around 132, but I gained 10 pounds (142), and then another 8 (150). I've recently lost 7 pounds, bringing me down to 143. I just want to get out of the 140's and back into the 130's, which I haven't seen in over a year.

Hey teal! Of course you can join us. We are always welcome to new people who are on the same course as the rest of us. Good job on the 7lb loss! You are very close to the 130's..that's excellent! Keep up the good work and feel free to post anytime you want. We're always around to answer questions or just listen. Hope you had a great weekend!

Hello people!

This is my situation exactly... my weight seems to fluctuate between 145 and 160.  Right now I am in the high 140's but seem to have the discipline and willpower to really drop some excess pounds.  What worries me is that in high school, when I was really active (soccer five days a week) and not overeating, the lightest I got down to was 136.  I am not very tall, 5' 5" (according to caloriecount's "wrist test," I have a medium frame), and I don't know if that means that 136 is my personal ideal weight.  We're not all destined to be slim, and I don't know if I'll ever see the 120's again, but I'd be happy to be in the mid-130's.

Nice to meet some folks in the same boat, I wish you all well!

136 or so is probably just right for you. I have never been lower than 135 healthfully and I feel pretty spunky in the low 140's which is where I am at now-so 135 is gonna be grrrrrrrrrrrreat!

I'm 5'6 and will never be a stick-don't have the frame for it.

I do remember passing 100 lbs though-I think I was ten-and I remember writing in my journal that I had to get back under 100.....sick, huh? Thankfully I never developed any serious eating disorder.

At almost 40-135 will be sweet!

Hi Ladies....just checking in to see how everyone is doing.  Things with me are about the same.  I am continuing in the low 130's, which is good.  I haven't been logging the last couple of weeks and am still managing to maintain.  We'll see how it goes.

i've loved reading this thread... glad to see i'm not the only one out there...

i've been on and off this site for about a year.  when i met my husband i was 120... not exactly a healthy weight for a 5'8" lady... but i enjoyed being slim.  in the 4 years we've been together, i've slowly slipped up to 140.  i've never really felt fat, but would love to get back to a slimmer me... my goal is 130.

i've also picked up bob greene's best life diet, and i have to say i'm loving it.  a set # of absolute no's and then some negotiables depending on activity level.  i'm working on getting my workouts up to 5 days a week... currently run 3-5 miles a couple times a week.  the hardest thing seems to be motivation... does anyone have any advice to a non morning person on getting up for that pilates class or making myself go do weights ?

Hi there-for those of you who are still losing and not looking to maintain (I am so jealous)-a new thread was started in the Group Want to lose 6-10lbs called

RALLY UP! Break into the 130s by Summer-Ride with me!

Not sure why that came out so big but I guess it gets the point across-anyway I am trying to get these last 7 lbs off and this thread seems to have a lot of maintainers-which makes sense since it was started a while ago-so for anyone who is struggling to break into the 130s efore this summer-check it out-

we need all the help we can get!
