Having a sad day

Quote  |  Reply

I just need somewhere to vent,

I have been counting calories for about 2 weeks now, I am starting to see a little results although I dont own a scale and have no real idea what my current weight is. I am feeling like this is going to be such a long road and Im so hoping that I can make it through this time. Im so tired of looking like this, feeling like this, being insecure. I know that it cant all come off at once, but sometimes I really wish that I could just go to sleep for a couple of months and wake up thinner.

hey there.. just wanted to say 'hang in there'... just bear in mind that you are trying to change the way you live your life not just temporary fix/diet.. so this is going to take some time but it's all worth it! It's taken me 6 weeks to lose 7 pounds but trust me, they are never coming back!

Your child will take cue from you and the way you are now eating which I am sure is super healthy! this knowledge will stay with her for the rest of her life, ensuring she is healthy always! Don't be so hard on yourself.. from reading your post, I am positive you are doing the best and are offering your little girl super healty options...

Cheer up.. tomorrow WILL be a better day..

I know how you feel!  I've got a 6 year old son that is tall and thin like his dad and two daughters who take after me.  Not so tall and not so thin.

But what I've finally figured out is as long as they know that I'm doing my best to be healthy they will too.  However, they also pick up on my negative self image and I don't want them to follow in my footsteps with that!

So I've completely banished my negative self talk and it's working wonders.  Not just for them, but for me too.  I'm not as hard on myself as I used to be.

Also, you may want to invest in a scale. I got a digital one for about $20 at a discount store (Ocean State Job Lot).  It really helps to see the numbers go down, even if it's only a .2 pounds...at least it's in the right direction!

Good luck and hang in there.  We all have fat days, but the trick is to have more "healthy" days!

You have come to the right place!  Yes, we understand!  We have each had that kind of a day...many of them.

1: I am sure the weight is coming off.  If you can afford to, buy a scale!  I did some research on here and I bought a "Tanita" digital because that is what everyone suggested.  It is accurate and reliable - my old scale ("Taylor") was not.  I bought the Tanita at Bed Bath & Beyond.  They send out coupons regularly and then I went in to the store and bought the cheapest one.  Great investment for not a lot of money.  If you cannot afford a scale right now, buy a measuring tape from the fabric/sewing store and take your measurements!  Measure whatever area/s you like and then check again in a month...or a couple of weeks if you cannot wait.  If you are logging your calories, keeping a calorie deficit, moving a little, and being honest with yourself, you are going to see progress!!!

2: Your daughter is a precious gift from God (which you already know of course!) and she has a wonderful, loving Mommy!  Look at what you are doing for her!  Look at how you are raising her!  Look at your tender heart and your concern!  You are making great choices for her.  If the doctor says she is healthy, just remind yourself of that!!!  Lots of babies are chunky and we should allow them to be chunky!  A chunky baby does not equal an obese adult!  My hubby was a chubby chubby chubby baby and he is tall and lean now - he can eat what he wants without exercising and keep the weight off!  Weight during the early years is not a predictor of the future.  And who cares what judgmental self-righteous people think about your precious daughter and her beautiful Mama!!!!

You are doing great.  Keep it up.  If you ever need to chat or vent, we are always here.

Hugs to you!!!

The first thing you need to do is buy a scale. Then take it day by day. It will take awhile but once you start it isnt as long as you think. It will always take longer to stay the way you are then fix it right.

Thank you so much for all of your replies, I have had a much better couple of days since I posted this. I think we all just feel down some days! I appreciate your comments and I definately think I am going to go out and buy a scale this week. I just HATE the thought of having to get on it, ugh! One day, maybe the scale wont have to be so dreaded though!

Thanks again!

I am a student midwife and doula to many woman and babies! I have seen the "fatter" babies belonging to the thin women who breastfeed mostly! It is not YOU! Some babies are chunky! The more she grows and her activity increases you will see her thin out and appear leaner. She is only 18 months old!

Your feeding her really well!
