Hi!! SAHM here as well! I have quite a bit more than 30lbs to lose, but I motivation is something I also need a lot of! I tend to get overwhelmed, mess up once & give up entirely. I am working hard to break that pattern. So far so good since I started on Tuesday! Best of luck to you! ![]()
what is SAHM?
It means stay at home mom loves. I am one too. I also live in jeans and T-shirts. I don't want to spend the money for something that hopefully will be too big. Too bad I didn't know I would be this big for so long. I gained weight after my first child 10 years ago. I finally got my s@*$ together and started working out at the Y 5 years ago. I didn't have the food stuff together though so I lost a bit at first and then stayed the same. Finally this year I got it. I have lost about 20 pounds with more to go. My first mini goal is to get below 200.
WOOHOO....IM a SAHM too! YAY. Right now I am 5'9 220 with a goal of 180, maybe 170. Im large framed.
I too wont buy clothes. My hubby sometimes gets upset because I complain that I have nothing to wear. He wants me to just go buy clothes. Anyway.
I too am following the New rules for women book. Me and hubby bought a complete home gym for the both of us to get into shape. I started lifting 2 weeks ago, I do it 5 days a week alternating between upper and lower body. Its pretty intense, but I love the feeling. When I am done my A$$ hits the floor!! LOL.
Hi. This is my first time posting. I'm also a SAHM with 4 kids, ranging in age from 2 to 8 yrs old. Constantly running around and looking after 4 kids, you'd think I'd be skinny. Well I'm not. I've been working out since last Jan and watching what I eat. I initially lost about 10 lbs but have been stuck at 155 since last May. I work out 5-6 days/week doing step level 3, power yoga, and advanced body sculpting classes. I work out so hard and watch what I eat and I still can't lose so I'm going to try the "eat more to lose more" approach that everyone is talking about. I'm 5' tall and am also 33. My goal is to get down to 150 by my bday(4/27). Good luck with everything!
Stay At Home Mom
I am also a SAHM of 4 kids ages 3-10. I am 5' 6 and have been 160 lbs since my fourth child was born. I have lost 10 lbs since the beginning of this year. What motivates me is simply wanting to do something for myself. As a SAHM it seems I spend all my time catering to everyone else's needs so I decided it was time to do something for myself. I was 140 before I started having kids and that is where I want to be. I take an hour a day to get on the elliptical and do some light weights. I tell my 3 and 5 year old to go play. I deserve the time to help myself and so do you!! Good luck.
rock on, SAHM's! i have noticed it is easy to get sucked into college drama, so it's nice to hear from people like us! i've got about 45 pounds to lose, last kid is 18 months old and it is time! i actually got certified as a trainer during that pregnancy to help stay fit, but principles into practice is another story! i workout HARD 3-5 days a week and i'm just starting to realize i don't get enough calories to lose (concept against my grain!). my doctor also just informed me my thyroid function was low and put me on meds, but i don't feel anything "kicking in" yet. i don't want to use that as a crutch and i don't eat JUNK by any stretch, but i do like a good plate of nachos and a cold beer every now and then!
i don't know how the "groups" or "friends" thing works, this is the first bunch of post that seem relatable, but i'd love to be in on whatever the in thing to do is!(not sure that makes sense, but the boys are wrestling under my feet!)
You should use your pedometer steps as an unlogged buffer, and use your 2 mile walks as logged activity. This will give you a 10,000 step buffer each day, but remember to eat enough calories or your body will hang on to calories you do eat in the form of fat.
WOW! Thank you for the responses. It is so inspiring to see that other people can and do relate to what I am going through. I took special notice of that SAHM who says she finally needed to do something for herself. That is where I am. I need to do this for ME! Thank you!!!!
Is jump roping as good an exercise as running?
In terms of calorie burning, moderate jumping is about equal to running a 10-minute mile, although calorie burning is always a function of time... Read more
