generally speaking, is there a salad dressing that you are almost always safe with? such as an italian dressing, or vinagrette? sometimes theres low-fat/fat-free, but ive heard those can be loaded with calories. i never know which to order at non-chain restaraunts. wondering if anyone had tips. THANKS!

Vinaigrette tends to be lower than creamy dressings. You can also ask for dressing on the side, and at some restaurants, you can ask for oil and vinegar and mix your own.
I always just get Oil/Vinegar ON THE SIDE... That way I don't have to use all the Oil because most of the time it's got 50,000 calories per tsp... Even if they are healthy fats, I don't need 50 bagillion of them...
I REALLY like vinegar on my salads... no oil... nothing. I think it is almost better than a full fat creamy dressing.
I like the new salad spritzers...wishbone makes them not a lot of calories can't remember the number of anything right now because I keep my bottle at work..They have Itailian and vinegerette...If I know I am going to a resturant I carry it in my purse..lol
I love my Raspberry vinagrette spray from wishbone. 10 sprays are 10 calories. I usually only need 4 sprays.
haha thanks for all of your responses, but i am looking for something that would typically be found on a menu and does not require you to BRING it to the restaraunt. hahahaha, thanks to all of you!!
Like I said... Ask for Oil/Vinegar on the side... They usually have that everywhere
Most places do have oil and vinegar as hybrids said. Or you can ask for a couple wedges of lemon or lime to squeeze over. Add a little salt and pepper and you're all set.
