I love salads!! unfortunately, I cannot find a good low cal salad dressing!!
The lowest cal I found was 50 cals for 2 tsp.
I love putting a bunch of dressing on my salads, so I basically been staying away from salads all together, because I know I will eat too many calories with the dressing.
Does anyone know any good low calorie dressing? Im not a ranch person I used to love oil and vinegar, but Im shocked at how many calories are in that!

Wow, better than you're not a creamy dressing person. Unfortunately I am. But, keep in mind a couple of things. If you use let's say mostly balsamic vinegar & only a little bit of olive oil, that cuts it down a lot. Also, olive oil is VERY good for you. Granted, I'm biased because I'm Italian :) but really, it is.
Kraft light italian dressing.....i believe it is only 5 or 10 calories for a whole tablespoon
light ranch dressing.....35 calories for 1 tablespoon

There's one I've seen in the store. In the refrigerated section, which is where I prefer to buy my dressing anyway. Often in the produce department somewhere. I think it's called Walden Farms? But it says calorie free, sugar free... something to that effect. You might want to look into it, but I also have to point out as usual that I abhor diet products, I wouldn't go near that dressing, personally & I think a lot more people should too. That being said, if you're dead set on the diet ones... see if you can find it.
You can wean yourself down until you use next to none. That's what I did. I don't worry about how fattening the dressing is because I use such a TINY amount now. You get used to it and it does taste good.
P.S. Yeah, that Balsamic Vinigrette is REALLY GOOD -- light or regular and not a ton of cals. I use Thousand Island myself. I eat a salad every day. Yum!

Oh yeah I forgot. What I do is shake the hell out of the salad with the dressing in it in a container with a lid. that way the dressing goes way further.
i dont understand? are diet products bad for you?
Wishbone has those spray salad dressings that are only 1 calorie a spray and I love them! I recommend the balsamic, ginger sesame, and rasberry!
Walden farms dressings are great, particularly the balsamic vinegrette (the honey dijon is terrible though). However, they have way too much sodium for me, and I try to stay away from artificial sweetners. I'd be willing to deal with a few extra calories if I could find a relatively low-cal dressing with lower salt and some manner of taste.
Kazrinya, In my opinion the diet dressings usually just taste awful.
I second the Wishbone salad spritzers. I have only tried the italian flavor but it has a really tangy sweet flavor.
I also LOVE Ken's Steak House Lite Caesar dressing. It is 70 cals per serving, so maybe more than you would like. But it's really spiced up so you don't need a lot.

I also love the wishbone sprays...add some fresh ground pepper and you're on.
I believe they are bad, yes. Many people do. I'm not so much for the they'll kill you right away thing though. I'm not that much of an alarmist. But I do think they are at the same time less tasty, less satisfying AND a lot of people believe the extra things in them can make you more inclined to eat more. I also do think over time they can do damage. I think they may also be responsible after years of why some people have more trouble losing weight, etc. I really detest the idea of children & adolescents consuming them! I think you're always better sticking to the least ingredients possible, also. Generally the more easily pronouncable, the better. These products always add things. Odd things. It's pretty logical to me that products made to supposedly taste like the regular variety, that don't have the fat & calories (and often nutrients), they're going to have extra added unnatural creepy things. Like if it isn't butter, but it tastes like butter.... run. If it's too good to be true... it probably is. If it's just a matter of being baked instead of fried... then that's different. A healthier option is always great rather than a potentially harmful replacement. A lot of people also get lower fat/lower calorie things and end up eating twice as much if not more. Sometimes it's not their fault. The real deals tend to be more satisfying. Since the boom of diet products the epidemic of obesity has gone way down right? Heh, try way the hell up. No thanks!
If you live in a town that has the Kroger chain, they have some low calorie Kroger brands are 20-35 calories per tablespoon. I read the ingredients and didn't see anything harmful in them. They are a life saver for me because I like a lot of dressing and the high calorie ones are too costly caloriewise for me.
The Wishbone sprays are awesome and there are 6, totally different flavors. I think my favorite is the Caesar. All of the flavors are pretty different and so it is hard to get bored of them. When I do want something creamier, I do get the Kraft Free Creamy Caesar. It is 50 cal for 2 tbls but that is a LOT of dressing! Good luck. Hope you find one/some that you like!
Kraft free italian 15 cal for 2 tbls. I'm not a big diet product fan, but this ones actually pretty good. It's just spicy enough to add flavor.
BTW, the catalina free is terrible. Don't try this one.

I used to avoid salad for the same reasons...love the dressing. I love Kraft Light Zesty Italian. It's 25cals for 2tbsp and I eat alot of dressing so I usually end up with about 100 calories. That's usually pretty easy to work into a lunch or dinner plan for me. There's also Fat Free Zesty Italian with only 15cal per 2tbsp. I've never tried it myself but I've heard it tastes exactly the same as the light version.
Would you try to make your own?
I usually do this - olive oil mixed with one type of vinegar (balsamic, red wine, white wine, rice, tarragon are all tasty vinegars for dressing), add some fresh chopped herbs (parsley, dill, cilantro, mint, marjoram are some good examples) and some pepper - red or black if you like, and fresh lime or lemon juice.
Mix all this stuff up together, then dress your salad. There are many variations so you don't get bored. You can also use dried herbs, or mrs dash or anything like that really.

i love olive oil and red wine vinegar! it's the oil that makes it so calorie-tastic. After a while I cut out the oil all together and just put vinegar on my salads (or sandwhiches) sometimes i add pepper and a little lemon juice for my taste buds' sake :) I dont miss the oil at all anymore
also, the wishbone spritzers are my second love in life. haha. i use the balsamic a lot. Usually when I make caprese sandwhiches on baguettes. :) delishious!
