Salami Sandwich

Quote  |  Reply

First off, this is in no way healthy but I would like a calorie count if possible.

I would guess this sandwich contains:

8 inch sub roll

8 oz salami (thick, thick sandwich)

2 slices provolone cheese

tomatoes, lettuce

oil and vinegar

I plugged these ingredients into the recipe analyzer and it gave me a number of 1500 calories... it seemed a little high so I want outside opinions. I was guessing more around 1000 calories.

omg that sounds sooooo gooooood...  my mouth is watering so bad right now...

sorry i can't help with the calorie count!

oh boy, it was. haha

but now that I think about it 8 oz seems like a lot of meat... I tend to overestimate portions.

Using your ingredients, I plugged them into the recipe analyzer and got about 950 for everything except the bread.  A white 8" sandwich roll from Togo's is 360, so 1310.  I don't think you're too far off in your original estimate.

Try entering each individual ingredient into your food log, and then look at the total.  I wouldn't be surprised if it hits 1500.  (That would be my entire calorie budget for the day!)

I am drooling just thinking about your sandwich. 8 oz does seem like a lot of meat so maybe you are overestimating. Was it at a restaurant? Generally restaurants weight what they put on a sandwich and you might be able to ask. I have gotten in the habit of memorizing all of the restaurant calorie counts so even if I am at mom and pop type restaurant I can usually compare it to a chain. Even if it does come to 1500 calories, I hope you enjoyed it and you can always think about how to handle the situation the next time (maybe enjoy 1/2 and take the rest home, or use mostly turkey breast with a couple slices of salami, smaller bun, etc.)?

All of the ingredients are on CC to find the calorie counts. Why do people always make posts asking other people to log the calories for them? I'm not trying to be rude, I'm just surprised by the number of threads like this.

I agree with you!!  It seems lazy to me.  I won't waste my time plugging in food for someone that has the exact same tools as I have.  Yeesh!

If you read my post carefully you will see that I clearly stated I plugged in the ingredients and tried to discover for myself. The number that came out was quite high so I thought maybe I did something wrong. If these posts bother you... ignore them. Problem solved.

yea that's easily 1500 calories at least. The meat is about 900 calories, an 8 inch sub will be at least 400 calories, and finally the cheese will probably add 200 calories at least. Total of appox ~ 1500 calories. There's a supermarket prevalent in upstate NY that sells subs and has nutritional facts for everything they sell. That's what I used to estimate. Just either go to the Sub Shop link or better estimate, individually added the items (salami, cheese, bread, etc). Here you go:
