Is salmon bad for you if you have high cholesterol?

Eating oily fish, like salmon, can actually lower blood cholesterol levels. The American Heart Association recommends eating fish at least twice a week to prevent heart disease. Studies show that eating salmon boosts HDL, the “good” cholesterol, and salmon provides B-vitamins that protect the heart in other ways. Salmon, like all "animal" foods, contains cholesterol, but it has less cholesterol than poultry and beef, and it is very low in saturated fat, the nutrient that has the most direct adverse affect on blood cholesterol levels.  Salmon is healthiest when it’s broiled, baked, grilled, or poached, but not fried. Wild salmon and farm-raised salmon have a similar nutrient content.
