salmon, tilapia, chilean seabass...
Okay so I am going to a seafood restaurant tonight. The counts for fish are so confusing. I am trying to be really strict today and I don't want to blow it tonight. There are the options of salmon, tilapia, chilean sea bass that can be grilled, blackened, broiled. What do you guys think is the best option? I would think grilled dry* and maybe tilapia?
They are served with herb roasted red bliss potatoes and grilled veggies. I am thinking about asking for all veggies...
There is also another menu option of grilled portobella mushrooms topped with jumbo lump crab meat over sauteed broccoli rabe. Sounds pretty good but not sure what the cals would be like..
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks so much!

This! It sounds delicious, that or grilled salmon with some lemon juice. Mmm salmon.

Nutrionally, go for the salmon. Grilled or broiled would be good. Tilapia is low cal but has virtually none of the omega -3 fatty acids that the deep coldwater fish have.
That portabello and crab thing sounds delish!
MMMM go for the Chilean Sea Bass but make sure they grill it with olive oil, not butter and ask for all veggies (steamed or sauteed with olive oil as well)... You can get salmon and the other white fish all the time, but Chilean Sea Bass is relatively hard to find and did I mention it's EXTREMELY delicious!! You will have a mouth-gasum for sure!

Yeah because it is being fished to extinction....

What about just picking the option that appeals the most and then enjoying a smaller portion of it?
I always get salmon out cause I love it and don't make it as well at home for some reason. My mom likes all the fish mentioned and gets the sea bass sometimes. Next time when I am with her I am going to take a taste to see. I hate ordering a fancier dinner to not like it. That happened with a full lobster. I love the tails but a full one grosses be out. I think for nice meals like this one should enjoy and worry less about calories. One meal is not going to send you into a huge weight gain. These are the simple pleasures.
Thanks everyone! I was deciding between the salmon and the portobella dish. I decided on the portobella because I wanted some crab plus someone else was getting the salmon so I could taste! Thanks for all your responses.
Meryl- That is a very good idea. The next time I really want something at a restaurant that isn't the best I think I will try that. But I would probably have to pack up the rest right away so I don't eat it all!!
UD- The meal was delicious!! I love mushrooms and crab, so perfect!
Yeah the Chilean seabass...I wasn't sure about it and I was reading all this stuff about it being endangered, so I passed. Thanks again!

I've got it on good authority from a leading population ecologist that eating Chilean Sea Bass = going to hell.
Yeah I was going to mention it, but figured chances are pretty small that it came from there. Not applicable to OP, but if someone does order it and wants to be environmentally friendly ask to see the certificate. The restaurant must be able to show it if they claim fish they sell is certified.

Yep - unless the CSB was caught in the South Georgian fishery, it is not sustainable. Plus, last I heard, there were some serious questions about the methodology MSC uses to certify a fishery, and until more established seafood groups (including Monterey Bay Aquarium, Blue Ocean Institute, and Environmental Defense, all of which still list CSB on their AVOID list) give their blessing, I'm going to agree with Sully's population ecologist, as well as the fisheries biologists that I had the pleasure of studying under.
