Popcorn!  It is only 30ish calories a cup!

The current issue of Women's Health recommends olives for salt cravings (90 calories for 10).

according to my doctor I'm supposed to be eating MORE salt, as I have low blood pressure

kinda a blessing hey? since everyone is all "oh no too much salt" "that has too much sodium" "i'm gonna have a heart attack" or "im gonna retain so much water if i eat salt"

I really don't eat much salty foods though besides soy sauce (my weakness is sweet foods not salty), so I'd like a few idea on how to get more salt into my diet without just "putting salt on everything" cause I don't much care for salty foods

Eat something salty but low calorie, like pickles.  Be sure to log it carefully and watch your sodium level.  If you are healthy with no high blood pressure, the reccomended amount is about 2500 mgs.  You could probably go higher if it's just for a day.  You may retain some water, but should keep in mind that it will go as quick as it came, and it's not real weight gain.

With any luck the craving will pass.

*Laughs* Eat canned... anything! My gosh, they put so much salt in EVERYTHING!! Even canned vegetables!

I love chips and used to eat them all the time.  Now I crave them all the time lol, but I've been trying to find healthier substitutes.  The other day I had 1/4 cup of salted peanuts (170 calories) instead of chips and that got me some protein as well, although it was a small serving size.  Sometimes I will have a bowl of cheerios with some lowfat milk (~130 calories) instead of chips.  When I start craving chips, I try to distract myself by doing something else instead.  Usually I can just forget about them.

Also, I have seen "baked" options of chips/cheetos, but I have yet to try them.  Some people at work had them and the individual serving sized bag was a decent quantity for about 130 - 160 calories.

Sometimes raw bell peppers (green, red, or yellow) will take care of a salty craving for me.  No idea how that works, but sometimes it does.

Other times, I just end up with a 100 calorie pack of wheat thins, or I'll go ahead and have a small serving of regular chips or crisps--usually you can eat a dozen or so for about 150 calories or less.  I budget my calories to leave room for a couple of snacks every day so that I feel less deprived.

well if your craving salt, then eat salt!

i LOVE salt, and sometimes i'll just binge on some SEA salt, with practically anything. health wise, its probably not that good, and it also increases water weight with water retention, but if your ok with that (as i am) then its fine. personally, i love pretzel sticks (esp the honey-wheat type) and they have a good amount of salt and sweetness.

if your craving salt, have a moderate amount and see where that takes you!

if you don't have high blood pressure, or heart problems then I don't see why you can't eat some salty foods regularly... especially if you don't overdo the salt in all of your foods

believe it or not, you DO need some salt... it keeps the fluid balances in your body regular. Too much may give a tempory water "weight gain" or bloaty-ness but that's about it. Just drink more water to flush it out.

if you don't have health issues related to a high salt intake, then go ahead and have some salt. Just eat healthy salty foods (like cucumbers with salt, salted popcorn, or soy sauce on foods) and use sea salt rather then table salt, it's better for you

Thanks everyone for all the ideas and understanding
