I am having the same problem at the gym, what do you guys think?

It might be a stupid and silly issue that I have posted about before but I am quite embarrassed to see the same people around me at the gym because I have gained  a lot of weight ( 27-30). also, that makes me feel down.

two approaches..

1- just ignore everyone and try to focus on my workout.  

2- try to change the time and go in a different time.( it bothers me that I don't feel free like before when I could go whenever I want).

your 2 cents??

Just ignore everyone! Seriously. Don't be embarassed, at least you are trying to lose the weight and get healthy, and people should support you for that!

Congratulations on starting a workout plan!

I think just about everyone has this issue when they get back to the gym after a long lull. In my experience, after even just one week of a consistent program, you’ll feel like you “belong” there. Your body will feel better, your mood will elevate, and you’ll start to go to the gym for YOU and no one else.

You are on the right path and you should be proud of yourself! AND, if it’s really bothering you, there is always the option of working out at home with a DVD (Slim in 6 is great) or walking everyday for a while. You’ll shape up in no time, and then you’ll be excited to show off your body at the gym. Good luck!

I would go with number 1 - but if ignoring everyone doesn't work and hinders your workout, I would try number 2.

When I go to the gym, I don't go to spy on everyone and see who has gained/lost weight. I go for ME and focused on ME. I'm sure everyone else there is the same, relax. :)

muttlover. you are right but not if there is someone you are really interested in and you feel embarrassed to show him that you are heavier than before. he is very fit and it drives me crazy that i have gained weight.

 get a mp3 player/ipod blast music and go into your own little world. the gym should be about your time and you deserve to be there just as much as any one else does. I find that its a good "me" time where I can focus on myself. My advice would be blast your favorite music, music that makes you really happy, and just zone out and focus on your workout and no one else.

 I used to have this problem at the gym until I thought about how little time I spent looking around at other people, and realized that other people probably aren't spending their time looking at me either.

u should be proud because they are pplz like me that do not like going to the gym at alll. i wish i would wake up everyday and go exercise my fat offf... gud luck u are an inspiration
