maybe i am eating too little. i eat 1400-1500 cals. daily. or i need more cardio. i dont get it. this better be muscles!!!! i am so freaking out. i feel so fat. i feel i am doing something wrong. it could be from year of eating only 1000-1200 then bumping up to 1400-1500 and addingmore protein and i have been building good hard muscle and tone. i am just so scared weight just going to keep coming on!!! has this happened to anyone else?
could u just be bloated?
no, this is in my legs and thighs. not my belly. they still fit same there. it is my legs(ham/quads/butt)
Hmm, well, it could be muscle. You could be reshaping your body. The thighs, hams, quads, butt... are all the biggest muscles in the body.
Take the jeans off and give yourself an honest appraisal in the mirror. Are your thighs and butt jiggly... or strong with tons of definition? If it's the later, then I'd just go shopping for new jeans to play up your new assets.
I know that once I reach my goal, there will be a handful of pants I used to wear at that weight, that won't fit. That's because this time I've been walking and running so I have more muscle in my legs and butt. I consider it a good thing. I want to be thin, but not thin with a nonexistent butt. Before I gained this weight, I hadn't been exercising and to be honest my butt had slid down way too low... and practically disappeared!!! I'm happy enough wearing a 2 instead of a 0, if it means I'll have a pert butt. :-)

i did the appraisal in the mirror too. it seems that in my ham/quad it is true muscle and to of glutes but my problem areas have been outer thighs and very bottom of butt. i seem to be working this out but building muscle underneath the leftover fatty deposits so i think the thighs are still same but b/c the muscle is bigger underneath, it is seems to be making the fatty area poke our more?? does that make sense. i can tell in hammies and quads it is definitely muscle. i dont get it. i eat so healthy and work out soo good and i swear ti just seemed to happen over the weekend. i feel i am doing everything wrong????
Yes, that makes perfect sense, and you are not doing anything wrong. In fact, you're doing everything right!!
The body doesn't lose fat and gain muscle in any linear, logical way. I think we tend to gain muscle first, then that muscle boosts the metabolism just enough that the fat comes off next. So just keep plugging along.... the excess fat will shed soon and you will be very happy because it will reveal all the great muscle you've created!!! And hang on to those jeans, they may yet fit you right again!
I'm only doing cardio (running and walking) and I have to say I'm very pleased with the effects... it's particularly awesome to have that definition in the hamstrings, know what I mean??? It's not like people are ever waxing rhapsodic about having hamstring muscle... (we all want carved thighs instead)... but I think it's pretty kewl. :-)

i hope so. i am so scared of gaining weight back as i lost 50lbs also. i was way to skinny from only eating 1000cals or so then bumped up and i think my body still getting used to it. but i will keep doing what i am doing and hopefully i will stay this weight but shed the fat on thighs! i feel better.
I know this is an old thread, but actually water weight does show on legs/thighs. At least it is so with me. After a day or two of eating way too much, my pants get tight. In another two days of eating normal or slightly less than usual, they fit again.
Water can accumulate in the tissues of any part of your body, not only the abdomen!

i think i hold water weight in legs too and it shows. i am the same if ate a lot of salt pants tight but once washo out of system it pant back to normal
I have always been told muscle takes up less space then fat. It also takes a long time to build muscle. So the scale says the same but your jeans fit different. hmmmmmmmm. No clue here. Maybe you lost some muscle. Good Luck
Seriously, why fret over temporary, momentary changes? Your constitution was made to last ca. 70+ years, if you have a healthy lifestyle and you are healthy, there is no point in freaking out every time you notice a tiny change in the way your jeans fit... although it will definitely keep you entertained for those 70+ years.
Hey daisyg, Im in your boat as well. I used to just powerwalk for an hour a day but I switched to running (training for a half marathon) to give myself a goal. Low and behold I tried on a pair of jeans today that have been loose forever and they were actually almost tight. I am so upset right now because I have been eating the same as before and also burning more calories. I just always build up my legs when i run- no matter how slow i go. I am going into the police academy soon and they have you running stairs etc....My thighs are going to be bigger that my head soon lol. I guess all you can do is take a deep breath and try to remember its muscle (even though I would prefer thinness over muscle unfortunately myself)
i am starting to get used to it! i would rather have muscles then it be fat and too thin.
