I have been taking turkey sandwiches for lunch for a while now and I am SICK of them! Does anyone have any low calorie sandwich ideas?

Grilled cheese. :D
I have been rolling up in a slice of turkey, a bit of avocado, that no calorie balsamic vinegar spray, and alfalfa sprouts, it is so good.  Not sure of the calories, but I'm sure not too much.
add bacon or turkey pepperoni to you turkey sandwich.

Ham, cheese, pickles

veggie wrap

I keep these ingredients around and switch up the combos everytime I make a sandwich...different every time!

Avacados or Spicy Guacamole

Hummus

Sprouts

Lettuce (Romaine or something else leafy, not just iceburg)

Tomatoes

Cucumbers

Turkey

Low Fat Ham (honey Cured is best)

Soy CHeese and Low Fat Mozz

Whatever random leftovers or things that look good in the store...Experiment!

I've been making some yummy sandwiches lately:

roast pork, roasted capsicum (if you do them yourself they're healthier and it's really easy - cut them in half remove the seeds spray them with a bit of olive oil and put them in the oven for 20minutes. Peel of the skin when they're done), basil pesto and lettuce (mixed leaf).

tinned salmon, avocado (about 40g) , onion and lettuce (mixed leaf)

ham, mustard, tomato and lettuce (mixed leaf).

basil pesto, tuna, tomato and lettuce (mixed leaf).

smoked salmon, light cream cheese, capers, cucumber, snow pea sprouts, red onion

Tomato, Honey roasted deli turkey breast thinly slices and 1tbsp whipped cream cheese (35 calories)
Have you tried pita pockets yet?  I cook up a chicken filet (140 cal) then tore it up stuffed in the pocket (which 80 cal) then topped it off with some spicy salsa (10 cal).  It's amazingly good and certainly different than the usual sandwich

In the pre-packaged deli section of the grocery store, buy the shaved ham, roast beef, bologna... The ham and Roast beef  has like 60 to 80 calories for 6 or so slices.... thats next to nothing.

marmite and lettuce

tuna salad

tuna and cucumber

ham (thin slices) and tomato

Tuna and Sweetcorn

Cheese salad

Do you have the Buffalo seasoned chicken breast meat in your deli? Boars' Head brand, Sara Lee, and Honeysucke (I think) make it...it's SOOOOOOOO good!  It's very low cal, tastes great with tomato, lettuce on wheat or multi-grain and you could sprinkle just a little blue cheese crumbles and lite italian dressing, or go Buffalo-style and mix a mayo of your choice with the blue cheese and put a little layer on the bread.

I'm from Buffalo, and it's the closest thing to a chicken wing I can have these days. The spicey but very tasty heat on the chicken makes is taste rich, not light. And I do the reduced cal Hellman's (Best Foods') with just a teaspoon of blue cheese crumbles (the sell reduced fat ones here now.) Sometimes I'll opt for even a little more heat and put on the Frank's Red Hot Buffalo Sauce...it's a staple here like milk, butter, eggs...:D

Try that out! I swear, you won't be disappointed. You can save a lot of calories, too, by using the Pepperidge Farms lightstyle Oatmeal bread...very tasty, not at all like air or cardboard like some others. Just portion controlled yummy.

Let me know what you think!

Goodnight everyone!

:)

How about a wrap? Something different but really good, cottage cheese, alfalfa sprouts and sun dried tomatoes. Very filling!

This isnt really a sandwich but my mom eats this really weird thing, they are tortias and she cuts them in half and takes salade and lunch meat, with some graided chesse and puts it in half the toria and eats it. she gets different kinds of tortias like herbs and garlic, to a lightly buttered one.

Tried a new grilled cheese yesterday, my healthy version:

2 Pieces of wheat bread - 35 cal a piece

2 pieces of Fat Free cheddar - 30 cal a piece

Chipotle Hummus - about 35 cal

Onion Slice

2 Thin slices of Tomato

Basil Leaves

Black ground pepper

Didn't use butter for spread, I used pam with vegetable oil in it, cooked with a low heat. Tasted fantastic.

My latest craze is portobella mushroom and pepper panini's. Take multigrain or whole wheat bread, one slice of a white cheese (provolone is my fave) and add grilled portobella and sweet bell peppers. I use my Forman grill since I don't have a panini maker, but it is SO good. You can add your favorite spices to give it more flavor. It is very filling too!

If you are careful about your bread selection, there are barely any calories. Use low-fat cheese to make it even healthier.

tuna and lettuce on whole wheat bread is my favorite

I have two different sandwhiches that I love!!! Both using 35 Calorie slices of bread.

#1-- Small can of white chicken breast (in water, chunked) with a slice of cheese! Yum, yum. I heat the chicken and cheese up in the microwave and have a delicious meal. The entire meal is only 255 ( can of chicken 125, cheese 60, 2 pc of bread 70)

#2-- Any meat you want (chicken, turkey, roastbeef) with light 35 cal bread...and cheese, but make it like a grilled cheese!! Yum yum..I sprinkle a little garlic salt on my bread too!

egg salad, chicken salad, turkey club made with lite mayo and turkey bacon, tuna salad, and roast beef.

Make them on all kinds of bread for variety. I have used whole wheat hot dog buns and made me a mini sub. Rye bread ,pita bread, flat bread, multigrain, mini bagels, (if you buy your bagels at a bakery they will slice them for you) really any kind of bread that isn't white.

Add a garnish like a pickle, olive, or hot pepper.

I also like different kinds of mustard, hummus, dill relish, and salsa.

have you ever had a muffuletta? they have them everywhere in new orleans and they're SO GOOD.  i just put olive salad and mozarella on toasted italian flavored bread, but traditionally they also have salami and ham. not very low-cal i don't think but super tasty.

There are lots of good things to make sandwiches out other than the turkey. My favorite low fat, low calorie is Boars Head Black Forrest Ham. It is super lean, and really great tasting. I put in on rye bread with some spicy mustard, add on some tomato and onion, and now and then a slice of low fat swiss cheese.
