Sashimi - high in calories... but still good for you - right?

Quote  |  Reply

I have a huuuuge craving for sushi for lunch.

I have no problem eating sashimi (infact its my preferred dish) - but when I log the raw tuna/salmon the calories seem to build up.  Its pretty clean good for you stuff right?

It's a great food...  Tuna and salmon are blessed with a rich natural oil content, loads of essential minerals and vitamins.... nothing destroyed by cooking. There's a reason why the Japanese live such a long time!
I agree, it is a great choice!  Nuts and avocados have high calorie content too but are excellent sources of protein and healthy fats.  As long as it fits in your daily calorie allotment there is absolutely no reason to not have it.  Just keep in mind that tuna can be high in mercury so eating it twice a week should suffice =)

I'm sure that you could get the same calories in a triple whopper, but what would you want to?

Indulge, they are totally healthy calories. =) No guilt there.

Sashimi is GREAT for you.  Eat it without feeling guilty at ALL.  There's so much good stuff in it, and it's extremely tasty.  =)  In fact, now I'm craving it... I think I'm going to try and convince my boyfriend to go out for sushi for dinner tonight.  =D

I love sashimi! Eeee. Now you have me craving it, you devil. >>; We have smoked salmon, though... that might come close enough for now. But go for it! Those calories would be due to healthy fats and little else. So enjoy, enjoy! (Lucky bugger. xD)
